  • These tuts are very high level. Thanks!

  • Yo dude..what course is this.....loving the feedback man......experienced myself but you know what.....always good to improve and learn.......like to do this course methinks..:-)

  • @Wolfie99 Thanks! This is the Deep & Soulful Pro Producer course in Logic. If you want to find out more, the link to the course is in the description above.

    Nice one.

  • you are really good at that!! Is it difficult to make a song like this?? keep up the good work!

  • at what db should my mixdown end upp being? i have heard that it should be at -6db but that makes my tracks volume end upp very low even after mastering, what is the right volume in the mixdown if you want the track as loud as possible?

  • Dont like this mixdown.. Sounds really weird

  • great panning

  • are you danny lambo ?

  • Nice track, Love the groove!

  • vengence or loopmasters.. a complete void! way to many people have them.. try finding one that isnt well known ;-)

  • Don't get me wrong, it is a great track. But doesn't Nick remove WAY to many lows? He removed frequencies on certain instruments which almost always require some lows. Can you please explain me why this is good for the tracks energy? Other than that, great example of how to analyse a mix.

  • @dsmaster92 You really want to be cutting as many low frequencies out as possible as it is an area of the mix that quickly becomes 'muddy'. In general it is the kick and bass that provides much of a track's punch and energy... too many low frequencies competing with them will prevent them from cutting through the mix properly.

  • @pointblankonline Yeah I know this, but isn't he cutting

    a little too dramatically?

  • @dsmaster92 I agree with this somewhat. I've found that cutting to much effects the sound too much. I don't run a school or anything, but I've found that if you cut right before the point of sound destruction, then shelf the rest makes it all sit in better. More like piecing together a puzzle. For example, on a mid range synth you may cut at 100Hz to keep the sound character, then low self the rest and reduce around 3 to 6dB at 250Hz, that way you don't ruin character, but reduce the mud.

  • @OfficialWillEP Yeah, this is the best way to do it indeed. But back in the days I used to remove way too many lows, always resulting in very sharp sounding tracks, almost hurting the ears. And since that day I'm very careful with removing too many low frequencies. I always use the multimeter in logic and the analyser in the Channel EQ to check the lows of all the instruments. And if certain frequencies collide, I solve that with good panning, and wide mixing.

  • GIVE US THE FULL TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK! NOW!

  • That nice )) but You say nothing about your equipment ) sound card, monitors ...

  • The sidechain reverb on the clap is hot. How did you do that? Much respect for you man.

  • that's a really weird mix that track's got

  • This track is called "Home" by Nik Frattaroli and it's available on iTunes and other online stores! :)

    Nice video PB!

  • Is there a possibility to get that track?

    I love the sound!

  • Nice track!

  • if u want the snare to make more of a statement try putting bitcrusher on it: set it to have no artifact sounds and turn up the drive setting...

  • Good track.. I would add that it needs something... something like a secondary melody or such. to really bring out the keys part. good luck

    Peace

  • amazing quality heard when the P.B.O. guy tweaked it, will obviously like to know stuff to do and always keep in mind to produce great sounding tracks. and of course nice piece of music, loved it.

  • awsome track

  • I think it would sound better if you reduced the low frequencies on the snare to make sit on the kick

  • Nice stuff frattaroli

  • i have a bass-heavy system and i can't hear too much bass for having a booming kick

  • AEEEEY DIS SHIT IZ FUCKIN HOT MATE!!!!.... CHECK ME OUT I MAKE BEATS AND SHOOT VIDEOS...HOLLA BACK

  • @0Daeman Hi, we are not actually sure if Nik released this tune. The best way to find out would be to contact him through his myspace

  • Its a really nice track, well produced but you were right about the kick and the bass, the second bassline you used sounded much better and didnt clash as much, did you change the sound or did you bump it up an octave, the reason i ask is because this is a problem i am having with one of my tracks at the moment, no matter what i do the kick and the bass are clashing, also what kick sample is that, sounds a bit like a 909 but doesnt sound quite so harsh

  • still can't stop listening to this. reminds me of new york for some reason lol... and it doubt it's because of the nyc compression.

  • @l3monsqu3zza That's great to hear, anything that reminds of of New York has to be a winner.

    Cheers

    PB

  • Feeling the tune!

  • can you tell me how can i get nice deep house samples?

thx :D i use Fruity loops but your track is very nice i like it ;)

  • @tarik3488 I would suggest doing some research into sample packs. Check out some production forums and magazines and see if there is a pack that suits your needs. Otherwise have a go a sampling some sounds yourself, chopping them out of your favourite house tracks.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    PB

  • @tarik3488 Try vengeance essentials if you haven't already

  • @IEatHarlots yeah mate but vengeance got different packs like club sounds, or electro house vol1 or vol.2 :D

  • @tarik3488 I think they have one for minimal and tech house too, but I'm not 100% sure... But you can use the samples in any of those for any genre. I use the house samples from dubstep for example

  • Hey Mr.Pointblank! I was pleased by the songs that your students have produced! would you be kind enough to watch my latest upload and give me a quick review!? Thanks! have an awesometacular day!

  • LOGIC and snAPPLE got this feed sewed up. No demonstration for Cubase or Sonar? Matter of fact Blackwax do you use those applications too?

  • Can anyone instruct me on how to make the deep stab sound used in this song? I see that it is the ES2 and know the auto-filter is involved, but if someone can help me with the settings or the original patch used, that would be really helpful! I've been trying to get that sound for a while but I think I'm just not approaching it correctly.

  • roll of the bottom end of that snare!!!

  • Hello mate!, I really Dig this Track!, Where can I purchase it or download it?. Logic Rulez!

  • very nice project bravo :)

  • Mega! i'm considering joining the course

  • Good work on the track. The class looks great, I wish I had some extra money. Question: What is on or how are you guys using the NYC Bus?

  • Thanks for that positive feedback -

We cover NYC bus compression in the Deep/Soulful course and also the Mixing Dance Music course. You can find full course details through the link in the info section (top right).

  • Any plans about a Cubase course like this? It would be great also for PC users... I think a lite (and cheaper) version of this course, made of tutorial videos like this (maybe explaining more in depth the mixing techniques), could be a good starting point for producers using different platforms and it would be very appreciated too. There's no Windows support for these Logic versions, and this prevents a lot of people from joining the course... (me included). Anyway, great stuff!!!

  • @lukeysBB

We do online cubase courses too. Have a look at the course brochure on our website and you'll find them.

It goes into more depth on topics like mixing and uses this same unique system of feedback where you get weekly personalised video analysing your projects from a pro producer.

  • @pointblankonline Yeah, but since I make electronic music, I'd like something like Mixing Dance Music, a more focused 4 weeks course... no plans for that?

  • Unfortunately at the moment there are no immediate plans for a Mixing Dance Music Course in Cubase however if we see sufficient demand it is certainly something we will consider.

Thanks for the feedback. We keep a note of comments such as these to inform future course development.

  • @LukeysBB PC users get more than mac users anyway

  • @LukeysBB Hi mate, if you go to the pointblank online Cubase forum they are looking for people interested in a cubase version of this course. ........FYI i am not affiliated with them i would be keen to do such a course myself...cheers

  • the drop is illlllll

    good job

  • Where can we download this track? Or isn´t it released?

  • Nick is definately releasing his music now. We are not sure whether this track is out or not though. The best way to find out would be to contact him through his myspace.

  • my goodness. Awesome awesome sound coming out there mate! If i had the money I would have done that surely!!

Wish you did courses in FL Studio.....

    nice video cheers

  • great stuff by both teacher and student.

  • Thats a tune id pay good money for!! Lot better than most stuff out there! I want a copy for my car

  • I'm from Chicago, Birthplace of house. Man this track is very nice. Lemme get a 320 of this and I'll get it in the mix and get ya name out. We producers gotta help each other out. Good job mate!!!

  • really smoth!! i would change the sample of the snare; the vibe of the track somehow could use more a clap sample. anyway great job. looks like the lecture and the lecturer are really good.

  • Nice track but is logic 8 or 9?

Thank you and the course is about logic 9 or 8?

  • The course is compatible with both . Tutors are able to open and provide feedback with both Logic 8 and 9 files.

The interface is virtually the same on both versions of Logic.

  • Nice track, so but this logic is 9? or 8?

And the course is on logic 9?

    THANK YOU:)))

  • hey man, great tutorials but i am wondering how would you transfer logic files? is it even possible?

  • You can bounce Logic files down to several different file formats including .wav .aiff and .mp3

Is that what you meant by the question?

  • Just picked up logic 9 too

  • Just picked up logic 9. Trying to expand from my mpc hardware world. May have to look into this course.

  • nice. more dribbling with the hats. real nice.

  • Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the vid.

  • can you guys help me out on something ?

i just need help on 1 thing, thats all

    please and thank you :)

  • Wicked!!

  • I'm a Logic Studio user also. Music sounds really nice.
