  • Has this engine been good to you? How much can it tow? What's the MPG around town if you granny it?

  • Why is it you can hear the turbo spoolin so well?? I have a 6.5 with straight pipes and i ca'n't hear the turbo..

  • @DODGERAM1999 is it turbo'd?...

  • what's with all the smoke haters,jealous or what?/fuck ECO,goin green=GAY

  • i bet you love driving by prius's in this

  • Also tip on stack cutting! Measure measure measure measure measure lol N then when you get to cutting the actual hole in the bed just use like a decent steel 3/4" or 1" hole saw on the line or close to the line you have already drawn on bed floor from measurements and then from that hole you can fit in either a sawzall and work gently.... Or spend the money n get a cut off wheel and it takes about 30 seconds to cut and alot more time makin sure you measure!!! lol N do it right the first time!

  • SMOKE=BROKE. Learn how diesel engines work. Smoke is UNUSED fuel You shouldn't get ANY smoke from a diesel if working,

You are correct except for the fact that just because they do smoke doesnt mean anythings broken... You can have the most effiecient burn possible and still smoke. Even the banks trucks smoke a little bit and their the cleanest anyone has ever gotten a diesel to run! Also the smoke isnt going to ruin the ozone, N0x is what hurts the ozone not unburned diesel get the facts :)

  • SMOKE=BROKE. Learn how diesel engines work. Smoke is UNUSED fuel that is burning off in the manifold, turbo, EGR and CAT and blocking them with soot. The engine is SLOWER, less efficient and uses more diesel than it you repaired it and sorted out the fuelling problem. You shouldn't get ANY smoke from a diesel if working,

  • @urbex2007 Do you seriously go to every fucking diesel video just to post that shit??? Seriously go find a more useful thing with your time fucking cunt

  • Good to see a (American) diesel that doesn't smoke when it shouldn't!

    Nice sound.

  • Man oh man. the 6.5 i drive at work, you don't need to use the turn signals, cuz it smokes so f-ing bad, you can kill 100 penguins with one pedal-to-the-medal run to 60! :)

  • The smokes a crowd pleaser, keeps the kids happy =P

  • not if they work for the EPA or Pollution Control!

  • But people in Alaska will thank you for destroying the ozone layer and the Ice in Alaska will melt and they can finally grow their own oranges =)

  • I believe they are a little more happy knowing someone knows what they want to happen to the world lol

  • is urs tuned up really good

or just miled to death LOL

  • no, it's just a piece of shit that smokes like hell because it has like 200,000 miles on it. and the tranny is shot so its pretty much like a variable transmission, no gears just revving!

  • haha thats funny

but atleast they last (most of them)

  • what exacttly did you use like the name of everything

  • Just go on Ebay and look for the seller "The Chrome Room"

I used a 3"-4" reducer and basically it was just a matter of measuring and cutting and the kit I bought on ebay bolted on the 3-4 inch reducer. Its about 7 hours of work if you do it on your own and your a noob. Its a lot of measuring and hold saws are expensive so I just used one made for wood. I busted 3 5 inch hole saw wheels but it got the job done.

  • i saw you roll thru the red. not a complete stop. im callin the cops!! aha just fuckin with ya i do it all the time, but only when there isnt those red light cameras :(

  • This video is computer animated =P

  • have u noticed that engines seem faster at night?

maybe because air is colder and more dense or maybe there is more oxygen as less cars r around polluting?

  • supercharged and turbo motors are definatly peppier in colder weather. 60 degrees seems like the sweet spot

  • It's too bad these are limited to 17 psi boost due to high compression. I wonder how a holset hx35/40 would work on these with lower compression where u could actually run more then 17 psi boost.

  • Really cool, it sounds like a gas turbine engine at first! Well done, great vid. +++++

  • I just put a 5 inch straight pipe on my truck and it sounds really good

  • Is your turbo stock?

  • 100% stock

The only thing done to this truck in this video is K&N filter, swiss cheesed airbox, high flow cat and stack

  • i love the turbo whistle! How did u get it to sound like that? I've never heard a 6.5 have that loud of a whistle.

  • The only thing done to this truck in this video is K&N filter, swiss cheesed airbox, high flow cat and stack.

When I viewed this video after making it I was like holy crap that sounds like a baby semi!

Im guessing the stack amplifies the whistle?

  • Why don't you remove the cat? It will make a little difference.

  • do you have the muffler and cat?

  • No muffler, highflow cat

  • cool vid man.

    that truck sounds real nice.

    5*

  • Thanks sir

  • Cool I was gunna put an 80hp chip in mine and straight pipe it

  • Go to heathdieselDOTcom they make better chips then SSdieselsupply.

Both are great companys though and I try to get parts from both vendors since they support our truck.

  • hey john I was just wondering, why do you say heath makes better chips than SSdieselsupply?

  • Heath programs their own, SSDiesel's is just a relabeled Wester's tune. Many people prefer Heath Diesel because they have the best costumer service.

  • Personally I dont own either so I dont want to look like a poser.

But for what its worth heath has the fastest 6.5 around and they seem to know their stuff more then SS. 80 Horsepower is a bit to optimistic for a chip especially on a old school diesel.

That being said I try to support both companies since the 6.5 market is small.

  • what do you have done to the truck besides the stack because I'm wondering what I should do to mine

  • K&N Filter,High Flow Catalytic Converter and a Universal single stack kit.

Thats all it takes to get it to sound like that =)

  • lol i almost thought ur camera was gonna fall of the truck

  • I didnt realize it fell until I got home.

I tied the tripod down to the bed ancors and when I got home the tripod was upside down hanging out of the truck!

No wonder people were looking at me like I was an idiot =P

  • When you rev it up it sounds like my 383 stroker.

  • Dude your truck sounds awesome, I'm actually thinking about swapping a 3.9L Cummins into my Chevy if I can. Of course it'll have 6" stacks!

  • Thanks for the compliment, The 5.9 is a great engine. If you have the means go for it!

Single 6 inch or dual 6's? I personally think 6 inches is too big, I've seen some trucks with dual 7's and it looks even more unproportional.

I was going to go with dual 4's but decided on the single 5.

Of course this is all preference.

  • My co-worker is some old guy and he thinks 5 is too big and said I should of just got a 3 inch stack =P. Then again he thinks stacks are stupid then I tell him what do you know? Your old, and he says thats true =P

  • I thought about getting a 3.9L installed, which is small in power but fuel efficient, but now I'm lookin' for a Chevy with the 6.5, it's just easier. I like dual stacks and I will probably leave the 6 inchers to the bigger trucks and get 5" dual stacks. Where'd you get your kit or did you fab it from a couple of kits? Is your truck a 1500 or 2500?

  • Oh ok, I thought you meant 5.9 and just miss typed it. I didnt even know there was a 3.9 cummins.

My truck is a 2500 and I got my kit off ebay for $300 and $110 for the stack. The seller is the chrome room and they sell universal kits. It took me about 10 hours to install from start to finish.

  • What do you have on that thing as far as exhaust goes, besides the stack? Is it straight pipe?

  • I used a 4 to 3 inch reducer, The S-Pipe is 4 to 5 inches then the stack is 5 inches.

Of course I used various clamps, saddle clamp and L-Bracket.

  • No muffler then, I take it?

  • Nope no muffler.

  • Well damn, your truck is a lot more sedate with straight pipe than the 7.3 IDI is. Tried mine with straight pipe and it was loud as hell and all raspy sounding.

  • Thankfully my truck isnt raspy but the camera doesnt do justice how loud it is. You cant have a conversation with another passenger with the windows rolled down.

Above 60 on the freeway with the windows rolled up its hard to have a conversation. So I usually just set my truck at around 59 mph and save fuel so I can still have a conversation =P

Im thinking of getting a internal muffler for the stack but I love how loud it is when you step on it.

  • I just noticed that only the 2 left cab lights dimmed on startup. haha thats odd.

  • The cablights are wired through those "Add a circuit" kits.

I used 3 of them if you watch carefully when I start it up the middle light comes on first followed by the others.

  • ah i see, so you added those yourself?

  • Yeah cab lights were added.

Then I got addicted to the "add a fuse" kits because I can never seem to find the power drop down harnesses in any of my cars.

I may be playing it too safe but I used 3 add a fuse kits to power the cab lights but also used them to share power with my back up cam.

So far so good and no blown fuses. They probably dont sap much power. My running lights are in the mail and I'll splice into the turn signals for those so they will blink when I use my turn signals.

  • I respect guys that can go out and put them holes right in the roof, and do an excellent job. Sweet. You have a back-up cam??? very cool. Do let me know when you get the lights, sounds like they're pretty cool. My brother just got a roof mount LED beacon (amber) with 25 flash patterns, it's blindingly bright...impossible to miss when he's plowin the snow!

  • Awesome sound! I like the video angle too, and nighttime is even better.

    I also use signals :P I can't stand when people don't signal...

-Sucks the cam fell over but it got most of it!! I gotta get a new vid of mine soon...

  • I just wanted to capture that video game perspective angle, hearing the whistle this much was a bonus =)

  • Sounds awesome, but you got to find a better way to mount that camera. Nonetheless awesome video.

  • nice sound great!

hehe too much for the camera stand.
