  • Yuan sahib, thnk u 4 vital details of 2 Indian movie play back singers; Talat ji and Lattaji.I have not seen movie Parchhain of 1952,at the time i was 11 yrs.old, but later on,I used to listen this classical sweet song on Radio Ceylon.Velvety voice of Talatji N Lattaj are enchanting one.Every singer is the best, when he is exposed to high class lyrical words n melodious music. All male n female singers of Indian movies have sung unique songs,it is difficult 4us,to judge, who is the best.(16.5.11)

  • @rafisolanki - You are absolutely, correct my dear friend and I too totally agree with what you just said. "........Every singer is the best, when he is exposed to high class lyrical words n melodious music. All male n female singers of Indian movies have sung unique songs,it is difficult 4us,to judge........"!!!

  • Dear Yuan, your quite welcome. This Lata/Talat duet is different than all others. Whenever I play it, I keep playing it again and again. Have been doing so since 1979 when I first heard it. And btw, I've never been to India either. Lol.

  • @RealMusicKing - Thank you my friend for the comment.

It is remarkable to note that you have never been to India but have the knowledge of all those rare details you have provided earlier!

    Unbelievable!

    Thanks and take care.

  • V. Shantram brought two figures with him from "Prabhat Movietone" productions. One was Music Director Vasent Desai and other was poet Pt. Bharat Vyas. But here in Parchhain, he introduced a poet that became a household name. That was none other than Noor Lucknowi. Noor also wrote songs in V. Shantram's "Subah Ka Tara" in which actor Pradeep Kumar was cast for the first time opposite V.S. first wife, Jayashree.

  • @RealMusicKing - Thank you my dear friend for the valuable information about the lyricist and I have just added the name, Noor Lucknowi as the lyricist in the description section.

    Thanks again and take care.

  • Undoubtedly all our legends.Lata Aasha and not to forget Gita Dutt and Mohd Rafi,Mukesh.Hemantda and the living legend Manna de are gems.I am now reading autobiography of Mannada(Marathi translation)which is again taking me back to the golden era,the same way songs posted by you have. Thanks again.

  • @SATKUL - Thank you my dear friend for your very nice comment and also for the kind words.

Now that you have mentioned the biographies, one of the best ways is to refer "Wikipedia". Just type the word and you should get the home page.

Actually, this is the best way to find out about almost anything under the sun!

    Take care.

  • @yuanyuanyuanyin - I forgot. Under the sun and also BEYOND the sun too!!!

  • you seem to be an ardent fan of Talat .thanks for posting such beautiful songs.

  • @SATKUL - You are most welcome, my friend.

Actually, I am an ardent fan of all the legends!

    Take care.

  • Hi Yuanyuanyuanyin, Just a small correction, this film is Parchhain, one of the very favourite films of mine, great songs

  • Thank you Vineesh.

Actually, I get all these names of films [words] from IMDb, since I do not know Hindi language. It says Parchhaiyan and even the Wikipedia says the same.

However, I will change the name as YOU suggest, my dear friend Vineesh.

    Thank you.

  • Not your fault, yuan. It is the mistake of the person who put the information on imdb. I wonder how many indians know about these songs and the movies.

  • Actually, must thank to You Tube, many Indians

and sub continent people are NOW aware of these old songs and movies!

If not for those copyright issues, there could have been many more of such movies/songs, I believe!

  • Impact of this song is larger than life. Life is worth living only account of these songs. Great

  • Wow V Shantaram himself...what a treat !

Somehow, I am reminded of Girish Karnad when I look at him...there is a great deal of resemblance between the two. The song is a delight to listen to, thanks Yuanyin.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • A rare duet. You can notice the 'extra' sweetness in Lata's voice in the music direction of Chitalkar Ramachandra. I feel she was in love with CR but as he was a married man it could reach its logical end !

  • I know!

  • Such a soothing voice of Talat-Lata and music of CR that it takes you to another world. Heard this beauty afer ages & seen on video for the first time. A thousand thanks.

  • You are most welcome.

  • This song takes me back to a rainy Saturday morning in July 1993 when as a 13 yr old boy , I listened to this song play on the radio and was immediately captivated by its melody. Its amazing that I was never heard this song again until NOW. This has to be one of the more under-appreciated Bollywood oldies. Thanks for sharing this rare gem with the rest of us.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • phenomenal song ! So utterly melodious. Thrilled to the core hearing sich songs

  • This honeyed Lata-Talat duet and Katate Hain Dukh Mein Yeh Dil by Lataji from Parchhain are two classic songs. Glad to see this sublime love poem on your site too, Yuan. Sandhya was a very talented classical dancer, but here her moves look somewhat amateurish,school-girlish even , perhaps because the dance form shown is neither here nor there and doesn't call upon the artistic skill that she was known for. Great clip otherwise. Thank you.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • Even now this song makes me go mad....my eyes moisten...

    A beautiful beautiful song...thanks

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • Wondefully fresh even to this day! VS had such a fabulous contribution to the movie industry in India. Thanks both for the upload as we as for the info about these artists.
