Aurally, I'd have to say that your slowed down G# just doesn't sound right to me, definitely sounds draggy & slow. I just think he was tuned differently at the two sessions. Down a half step the first time & in 'A' pos (key of G#) & for Bb to be the right key (on 2nd recording) all he would have to do is capo the first fret or be tuned up a half step & 'A' position is then Bb, right? He was playing with the key for vocal reasons? The landmark in this tune is the 'A' position, go from there.
Fine detective work - G# sounds better than the Bb version -
I think you are right since Lemon played out of A position; first he recorded it tuned down, thus G#; I can't imagine him playing it months later copoed up to Bb...

The Beatles recorded this song and were big fans of his.

Anyway, Matchbox obviously was NOT a Carl Perkins song... its origin is definitely before the thirties...

Hey Akira
What program are you using to slow down the tracks?

Hi poolshark798
I use the pitch control of the CD player.
I hear it with my ear.
It is mathematics afterward.
There may be good software...i don't know it. thank you Aki.

I thank for your comment of the musician.
There is the truth that only a musician understands.
However, many people can understand it by the explanation of the musician. Thanks Akira.

Great video, and again it shows that Blind lemon Jefferson voice was not so high like the recordings!
I wonder if Blind Willie McTell Statesboro blues has the same kind of recording mistake, is like here McTell voice is a little high. But I dont know!

Hi blueskyearth
I am agreeable in your thought.
And I think that, in fact, Matchbox may be G.
