What fantastic harmonies! The purity is just so painfully real. I have been listening to these guys for 40 odd years and it never feels dated at all. Just purity without re verbs and echo's or the dreaded melodyne software rubbish. Long live real vocals.
I am a 36 year old heavy metal rock and roll, devil rock artist. But I love the Mills Brothers. When I was studying jazz I got into these guys, and that was in the early 90's. It just goes to show... real ... quality music is timeless. And real musicians no matter what style they pursue will know quality when they hear it.
I had the 1st song "Music Meastro, Please" on a Jazz Compilation CD a while back (but I don't know if I still got the album or not, but this was definitely my favourite track on the album.
Each time I hear the song, I can't resist singing bass and each time I do, it feels like I'm standing on stage in a brand new tux and singing with the MIlls Bros, to a packed dance floor of couples, gracefuly slow dancing as the orchestra is working it's wonderous musical magic.
When I was a young girl my father loved singing along and listening to the Mills Brothers..now I am old and listening makes me feel young again. beautiful sounds of great harmony......love it It's timeless music at its best.
