you have done your homework and have combinded the best traits of many great golfers and have made them your own ! Or else you have the best Natural swing I have ever witnessed and I have studied them ALL
@bunkerputt - as I start the down swing I focus on a strong weight shift to the left and try to feel a pulling action with my left side and shoulder. Cheers.
No kidding, that is my favorite club. Actually, I have two Nike SQ Sumo 5000, 9.5 and 8.5 with the exactly stock shaft Diamana S-65. Man, I love the Sumo 5000, however, I will try it with a Harrison Saga S-60 Stiff soon. Thanks for the quick reply. Hit them long!
the practice swing & the actuall hit isn't the same...you dont drag your right foot as far foward on the actuall hit like you do in your practice swing..is there a reason for that?
@THABHARP - it's nothing more than I exaggerate the practice swing to illustrate what's actually happening during the swing. The real swing occurs so quickly that it's difficult to watch what's happening, even in slo-mo.
My favorite part of your swing is your right foot drag. Awesome. It's like Gary Player's step out into the golf course after impact, or Greg Norman's right foot slide, and even Ben Hogan's. I say if you have a great putting and short game, you have a chance of being not only becoming a great long driver, but taking it on the PGA Tour.
@alansmithdc - I agree, alan. I didn't say "down on," I said "down through" the ball. The iron strikes the ball first, then the ground. That's down. No other way to do it. Even Austin hit the ground with his irons. But like Moe Norman did, you take "bacon strips" and not "pork chops" out of the ground with the iron strike. Nonetheless, it's still a descending strike.

That looked like it went a long way. What do you feel in your arms as you start the downswing? Do you feel like you are pulling them down some?

You and Bowden have matched the Mike Austin move to a tee. How does it hold up with irons?
golfprogress 1 year ago
@golfprogress - it's the same move with the irons, except you're hitting down through the ball instead of a level strike with the driver.
theoryguy 1 year ago
This bit of info comes from Chuck, mentored by the legend.com He said Mike Austin "Never" advocated hitting down on the ball and taking a divot.
