i used a recipe from an indian woman. i got $2 hair henna from an indian store. a large lemon. squeezed the large lemon juice in, added 2 tablespoons of honey. added herbal indian tea ($3), and added creamy non protein conditioner until creamy. put on line a relaxer using the shingling method, and i am very happy. it did cover my gray with highlights and i like the brownish red tint. it is also VERY VERY SOFT
this was great video. does this henna cover gray hair well ? Can i purchase on line ? natural and gray in texas. conditioners and jazzing is too much work. HELP !!!
@blackchery1014... I love the henna on my gray and get great compliments. If you have dark hair from experience it only gives a reddish cast, if you have gray it gives it a copper red color. After a few washes the red starts to tone down. I like to add organic root stimulator conditioner to my mix along with making an herbal tea. Henna seems to dry my hair out so the conditioner helps
I have a few indian friends and I asked them about about it as well as the lady from the indian store were I bought my henna and everything the girl did in the videos sounds legit. The only thing she didn't do was ad the the lemon juice or orange juice to ehance color. But then again thats what she used the tea for. She wasnt going for bold high lights just something that was noticeable in well lit areas. Henna can be used in many ways I use it as a deep conditioner
I like your technique and I spoke with the lady that does my eyebrows and she did say you should use the henna that doesn't have color added because its not pure henna. She also said you need apple cider vinegar an a egg to activate the color in your hair the is oil added because or hair tighter that others.
OK I made my mom to do this! She was mad because she just wanted me to wack all her hair off, she was tired of dealing with it, but it was damaged so we did this. After words her hair was VERY red. We were surprised to say the least, and mom got even madder, but she's been a redhead for about 30 years now it's just lately she was doing a light blonde (not bleach, just light). After a few days her hair was really think, bouncy and she doesn't want to cut it off, she even likes the red now :)
@abselby haha henna does make hair a lil redder, i want to try this ive heard it makes a great treatment for hair aswell, if you dont want any color change there is a special product made from henna that wont change you natural hair color but it will still nourish it :]
@NiniRamenNoodle Oooo doo tell! DjamilaMakeupLover was asking about Amla power, is that it? I have been looking all over to replace it to use on my hair... I like red but I have a bunch of hair pieces that match my natural hair. :o)
Not everyone has a radiator love. So instead of a plastic bowl I used a stainless steel mixing bowl and placed the product in a warm oven. NOT HOT. I achieved the same results.
Ive just followed your instruction and bought pure henna in Indian store. I mixed with egg and avocado oil, adding some yogurt as well. I left it over a night and washed up next morning. I was amazed by the result, my hair was not only shine but had such beautiful rich brown color. I bought it for $ 2.99. I will NEVER use chemical on my hair again!!!!!!!!!!. I would encourage everyone to use henna . Thanks.
wow..there are 101 ways to mix of henna...I've been using it on and off for about 24 years (since I was in high school)....yours appear heavy in protein (yogart and egg) thats good if your hair needs extra protien.....henna adds strength and shine without it as well......You can also achieve a good result by just soaking the henna in a cheap conditioner for 24 hours....its acidic enough to release the dye if you want the color....your hair looks good though! :)
um...not to be rude or anything. But for people who want to color their hair all that stuff is not legitmate.....henna will usually give black hair a redish brown color when just adding henna and olive oil together.......and leaving it in for about 2 hours will definately give you the color you desire.....
Nice hair..you can get henna from the muslims or indians we use it all the time on our hands, feet, and hair, I use red henna on my hair and it leaves my hair thick and full and a tint of red because I have dark brown hair. Your hair will grow so fast. I try to use henna once a month or every two months....
Your hair came out beautifully but I'm a bit of a punk with any chemical. My sis or my stylist usually does my relaxers. I bet my stylist would laugh at me if I asked her to do a henna color on my hair and I don't even know where to get the stuff.
I heard that Henna can be drying because it's a protein treatment? Did you have this experience? I know it's known for it's conditioning properties, but if you already have dry hair that is (ie:breaking due to dryness) how would this benefit the hair?
i have pretty dry hair so the night before i coat my hair with shea butter treatment that i made myself and wrap my hair in seran wrap over night u dont have to rinse it out just apply the henna and it will deep condition with out drying out ur hair
Can I use henna in my hair once a month? Or is that too often? I want to use it as a deep conditioner. And what can I use to keep it from staining my face instead of Vaseline? Thanks!
Did you find the henna to be drying any? Well, i guess with the things you added that it may not have been. When i started using henna, i followed the directions and didn't add anything extra. What does the tea do for it? I have always wondered, how do people achieve all these other colors from using henna? Isn't it suppose to be a plant that would mean that it would naturally change your color, but that everyone's results should be the same shade? Just curious! Great vid and music.

I am growing out my color treated hair to my natural hair color (I am African American and I wear my hair in it's natural state) and the difference is annoying (the dye is a medium brown color). Do you think the henna will stain the dyed hair to a dark brown or would a black work?
Nice Video. If I were to do this, I wouldn't use egg, yogurt, saran wrap or radiator. Instead, I would put ingredients in a clear glass bowl. Combine with fatty coconut oil and lemon instead. Cover with clear glass plate and set out in the sun for a day.

If your hair color is naturally dark, henna will not color it! You'll be able to see highlights in the sun, but it won't be noticeable otherwise...sorry. I use it mainly as a deep conditioner because my hair always feels so soft and looks shiny after a henna treatment. I use henna as a deep conditioner every 3-4 months and it has changed the color of my hair slightly, but that's because I've been using henna for a couple of years now.
I used 2 packs of body art Henna (dark brown) and only mixed it with lemon juice. I covered the bowl and left it in the kitchen for 12 hours. Next day I applied it on my hair and also on a few stranded hair from my comb as a 'test' to see what it would look like. I'm leaving the henna in my hair for 8 hrs but I washed out the henna on the stranded hair to see the results and there was no change. I have dark brown (looks black) African hair.
Hi I know you made this a while back , but I am curious as to why you used so many different ingredients in the henna? My sister and I just started to use the henna, and I only used orange juice or lemon juice. From the research I've done, it is said not to add too many ingredients as it will cause the henna to not take as well. But I can understand that everyone has their own way to mix it and what works best for their hair.....
if your hair is blonde, it will enhance it, make it a richer color. My roots are black, but the last 2 inches of my hair is a previous auburn color I used (like ammonia peroxide) a long while ago, as it is growing out. The henna made it a richer reddish color. If you want your hair black you have to go over it with indigo which is a second step after the henna. You can dye over lighter colors.
@StopDomViolence she was probably using it for the deep conditioning benefits rather than the colour. when mixing it with the orange/lemon juice, it is perfect for colouring the hair but mixing it with other things, they want it just for the benefits
Dude you are ignorant if you think henna does not work on African American hair. It sure does. My hair is insanely red.

I use henna as a deep conditioner every 3-4 months and it has changed the color of my hair slightly, but that's because I've been using henna for a couple of years now.

Part 1:
I used 2 packs of body art Henna (dark brown) and only mixed it with lemon juice. I covered the bowl and left it in the kitchen for 12 hours. Next day I applied it on my hair and also on a few stranded hair from my comb as a 'test' to see what it would look like. I'm leaving the henna in my hair for 8 hrs but I washed out the henna on the stranded hair to see the results and there was no change. I have dark brown (looks black) African hair.

I'm impressed. Great work. Amazing to see how much we can do with natural products. We just got to be creative with it!

Hi I know you made this a while back , but I am curious as to why you used so many different ingredients in the henna? My sister and I just started to use the henna, and I only used orange juice or lemon juice. From the research I've done, it is said not to add too many ingredients as it will cause the henna to not take as well. But I can understand that everyone has their own way to mix it and what works best for their hair.....

wait im a blonde, will this die my hair??

if your hair is blonde, it will enhance it, make it a richer color.
