Sony doesn't allow any good shoot'em ups on their console because those games aren't "HD" or "next-gen" enough. Incidentally, it is the same reason why Microsoft won't allow them on XBLA.

(Yes, they will rather publish a bad game with ugly high-resolution graphics than a great game with great low res graphics. Beats me why.)

@foxxthefox Could be because Microsoft wants the exclusivity or nothing, could be because CAVE doesn't like the PS3, could be because they signed a contract with Microsoft for x-number of games. Our best bet for PS3 at the moment would be Rockin' Android. What he said below doesn't really make sense as far as reasons go and isn't true anyway (Megaman 9 anyone? 8-bits, 4:3 format and 2ch stereo only?).

Not sure if you've played it, while it isn't the same as these, I really enjoyed Soldner-X.

Cave announced iFeb 15th it is region free as long as you get the standard edition the limited editing still has region coding.
