  • This was the first song to be sent across the Atlantic from the composer in New York to a publishing house in London the year was 1928....by the way thamks for sharing your recordings.

  • I always thought that was 'Shepherd of the Hills'the previous year?.

  • The information I quoted came from an advert promoting the song by Lawrence Wright Music Co in the 1928 December issue of Rhythm magazine...."This is the first time in history a song has ever been sent across the wide Atlantic By Photo-Radio, and in such record time!" Perhaps then as now advertisers make all kinds of claims that are not always accurate, so maybe you are right.

If you are interested I can you a link to the magazine.

    Kind regards

    Keith

  • I "LOL" everytime i listen to this when i see twiddlybobbys mention of Mr Oliphant Chuckerbutty!I wonder if he had a wife called Betty?

  • This is superb in every single aspect!!! Brilliant band, orchestration, vocals, acoustics, I even love the classy purple label. Thank you VERY much!

  • Lovely laminated surface on Regal, Hal Swain's recordings where amongst the finest on this label. The organist on this recording is Oliphant Chuckerbutty, a name I don't think I could ever forget!

  • Brilliant. I did not know any of this - until now. That organ had often made me question the recording data. Thanks!

  • I have just found that an "esty" organ was fitted in the refurbished Cafe Royal that re opened 3rd Feb 1928.Hals was the resident band from Feb 1928-June 1929.

  • Another 1988 purchase. I must agree with everything you say!

  • ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!The reverb being in the cafe(?),the fantastic rich band, the organ and the fact it is a regal all add up to an A+ RECORD!!!!A first hearing of this great tune also."just LOVELY"!
