  • The first #1 for Tanya Tucker on the Country & Western charts. It was the 261st #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian C&W charts.

  • i love this song , it pretty well tells the story of my life. wish i could see my now 21 year old daughter.

  • I'll bet Goldie was waiting for him with her rolling pin. Ouch ouch.

  • This song is so sad.

  • @littlelady60 not kittlelady60

  • @kittlelady60 I didn't take our child from her mother, SHE took our child from me. Now that my child & I have reuninted we have a GREAT relationship. A law has been passed that NO parent can keep a child from either parent w/o a court order, unfortunately this happened long ago when there was no such law, and mothers could take children from fathers w/o recourse. Please read & understand comments before making a reply to them.

  • @ImCopperBear I agree 110% with what you are saying. I have 2 sons one grown and another 10 years old. Unfortanetley she has passed but what had happened to me was similar. The first 2 years that my youngest son was in this world I did not not see him until I come with some type of moneys. Now I have soul custody of him and we get along great. I just wish they could make the law more equal for everyone !!!

  • Did Carl have his very own show or was this on whatever TV show?

  • love this song

  • i used to listen to all of the country classics but lost in touch with the music... now i'm getting back in touch with it. it's a WONDERFULL song. i love it.

  • great song i love her singing

  • Twenty one years ago my ex took our daughter and disappeared. 15 years and many thousands of dollars later, I located her on her 17th birthday. We have a strong relationship and I was able to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day. I can't listen to this song without tears for the time we missed and thoughts of other fathers going through the same thing.

  • @ImCopperBear I feel for you! I can only WISH my son's father felt as strongly toward any ONE of his 7 children as you feel about your daughter! I TRIED with all my might to keep a relationship open for my son with his father, BUT the ONLY thing his father wanted to do with my son was USE him for his ill gotten gain, then desert him when the use wore off! My son almost lost his life to one of his father's exploits, and was then deserted while laying in a coma! GOD BLESS you & your daughter!

  • @jjenner1951 I feel for you my ex has about 5 other kids or even more than the 3 we had The day I left he really did not ever look back for 17 years I have raised my kids with no help at all from him He was always running from the law or with differnt women Our kids never even crossed his mind He wants to be around them now in there lives my son wants him my daughter dont she has her dad that raised them This song is great makes me cry

  • @69tamtamtam I bet you a million dollars his kids crossed his mind.

  • @ImCopperBear theres no man that should take any kid from thier motyher we need to make a law to STOP IT

  • She seems so mature for her 15 years at the time.

  • One take Tanya --because she records everything in one take

  • If this isnt Country Music, then I guess I dont know what Country Music is!

  • Her earlier stuff was far superior to the processed crap she did in her later years--and it was quite sophistocated for her young age at the time.

  • @Lisbet3

I agree totally...after around 78 or 79 she seemed to start sliding. Not that I dislike her later music its just I feel the early music was better.

  • OK Carl; CREEPY, GUY. Me thinks the horses aren't the only thing old Carl wants to ride. What an Asshole!!!1

  • @jonny1yz

Disgusting comment that has no place here.

  • Classic Tanya Tucker I Love this song My Grandma had this album!!

  • 1 of my favorite songs

  • could anyone tell me if there's either a southern or northern city which is comparible to New orleans?

I'd llove to write a updated versio of this song

  • @ :13 he brings up his horses. He crosses his arms because this is a body language move where he tries to hide the fact that his intention is to get her to his ranch to have sex with her. It was much more acceptable then to mess with the young'ns.

  • @MissTeenPregnancy that is disgusting and only someone with a sick mind would that.

  • @mikehlebik I agree

  • be careful,he is inviting you on a date

  • @justplainhicks People were not sick and twisted back then.

  • very meanigful song i think tanya sings it very well.sometimes i half to remind myself just how young she is.brings a tear to my eyes ,so meaningful deep lyrics. one of my favorites.

  • For any character problems later in life, Tanya was and is a truly talented singer. Carl Smith was, in my opinion, victimized by the "political" influence in the music business. He was a great honky-tonk singer. I saw him perform several times in his early years and he routinely captivated the audience.

  • ugly...............................ugly

  • @pekoe ignorant....................ignorant

  • She sure has talent!

  • I looked for this song for year for my mother and finally found it making it a birthday gift for her. She said it was one of her best gifts ever. I love this song and the memories of listening to it with my mother.

  • I was 13 when this song came out. It made her my new hero. I still listen to her music.

  • i loved this singer in the 70s...and in 80s she sings a song called "should i do it" i was really loved to hear her singing......and allmost today i love to hear her in the carstereo

  • Oh my, I love this song. I love the real country songs...

  • She looks so much like her youngest daughter Layla, in this video. Wow! What an amazing "BIG" voice coming from, what was back then, just a little girl. She was amazing back then and is even more so now. Love you, TT,

  • Klasse Stimme und Frau!!!!

  • @MultiAlfred123456 genau, aber um die zeit war sie noch nur maedel mit 15 gewesen

  • This is my favorite Tanya Tucker song. My mama used to play this album on our big console stereo as she cleaned the house when I was a youngin back in the early 70's. Thanks for posting and bringing back such great memories.

  • @dupont94 My Mom did too!!! such wonderful memories.....

my daughter came over yesterday.... I was doing the SAME thing.... playing Johnny Cash, Lorretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and Tanya Tucker..... and cleaning away... I miss my mom.....

  • she is always was and will be my secret crush i love all her songs

  • My God in Heaven, what a voice!!

  • arl Smith was flat out flirting with her lmao

  • cant believe how young tanya tucker is on that clip from 1973

  • I'd like to write a northern counterpart to this song..... what would be the northern cities to Mephis& New Orleans? Or the south eastern answers to those cities?

  • Aawwww, Good ol' Tanya. Wasn't much older than her when she hit it big! Yep, had a huge crush! The girl can surely sing!

  • i was a kid when tanya tucker did this on the grand ole opry back in 1973 wow awesome

  • Can any one think of the names of northern cities which would fit in this song?

  • Perverted old man.

  • @plcj80 You do realize she's his daughter

  • @plcj80 whoops sorry, you were talking about the host werent you, sorry about that.

  • My cousin Dallas Frazier wrote this song..Dallas was and still is the greatest song writer if all time...

  • @dannys2222 Ur a disgusting homo pig get a life!

  • then can ya come to my house and ride my horse to'

  • Don't care WTF anybody says; she has a voice that NOONE can compare to!! But to each their own.....

  • My dad had this original album, used to listen to it over n over, had to get Tanya's greatist hits CD to hear it again, takes me back. Tanya's true country.

  • One hell of a song .

  • WOW !!!! That'a all.....WOW !!!!

  • I True legend of country music

  • what a beautiful voice I admire this gal so much a kind compliment from one lady to another :)

  • fell in love with tanya tucker tammy wynette and george jones to and from texas cuz thats all gramma would play favorite song of her is n mans land

  • What made Tanya Tucker stand out from the crowd are her unique husky voice & sunny, fun-loving disposition.....sadly, we don't see them much on current country artists.

  • Hello, little girl. You sure are cute. You look older than 14. Come out to my ranch and you can ride my horse. I keep the milk and cookies in the upstairs bedroom. Don't worry about the cameras and recording eequipment. I only use that stuff to make "special" movies.

  • @FatherTimeST1300 You are a creeper.

  • @anchovysardine

I was being sarcastic, like Carl Smith. Dummy.

  • @FatherTimeST1300 haha thats how I thought too ....

  • Tanya Tucker is MY favorite country female singer! I like her funloving personality and distinctive singing voice! Female country singers could take a few notes from this beautiful ICON!!!!

  • Savage Voice

  • This is sad. But I love it.

  • The way Carl is looking at her is a little creepy.

  • @PamK36 was thinking the same thing...something brewing on the horse riding invite lol !

  • @PamK36 Most of the men back then looked at her like that!! My Uncle would howl like a coyote when he would see her. I saw her in concert twice and she held every man's eyes the entire show!

  • @cherrygirl67 When she was 13 or 14?? She still looks like a kid here.

  • AWESOME!

  • This old classic Tanya Tucker song revealed the very unique vocals from

this little dynomite of a girl! Her gifted

vocals has made her a legend, made

her mark upon country music that paved the way for many other female country artist to follow !!

  • You're right, and Tanya Tucker doesn't always get the credit she deserves for that either because of the negative publicity she received in the early 80's when she was involved with Glen Campbell.

  • @landrykkb

Glen Campbell abused the hell out of her. He's a real piece of shit.

  • @FatherTimeST1300 I definitely don't make excuses for Glen Campbell or his abusive relationship with Tanya Tucker, but both were on the coke.

  • What a classic Tanya Tucker song!

  • This one was the time Connie Smith & Johnny Russell hosted the show.

  • This clip was shown twice on Country Standard Time. Once when Ed Bruce hosted Country Standard Time for the second time and I think without the interview and then the second time with Connie Smith and the late Johnny Russell with the Carl Smith Interview.

  • Yep, she took us by storm.

  • Wonderful song in my favorite.*****

I feels Tanya is one of pure Country famale singer. Thank you for nice posting.

  • @CptSato I agree 100 percent. I wished she would have kept her twang. Pretty good stuff for a teenage girl!!

  • @Duke4Reuti kept her twang?
