put a kubota diesel generator motor and get a cluch for it and run a long chain. u get so much torque that it isnt even funny! i have a Yard machine that i put one on. its heavy but makes it threw everything and the motors last forever without problem. other than that Briggs are much bettr than tec.

nope i seen more tecumseh throw more rods than i seen briggs, tecumseh engines don't like the heat season, meaning the hot days, i mowed my yard with a tecumseh mower, and it seized up 2 times on me, and the 3rd time, it threw a rod thru the block, and found out the mechanical oil pump have failed on me, briggs dont have oil pump, they have splashers, and i depend on briggs than i can depend on tecumsehs, so briggs all the way

let it cool down completely, then with the spark plug wire off the spark plug, if the mower is equipt with a engine stop lever, tie it with a rag or a clamp to hold down, then turn the blade untill the engine can turn freely, check and add oil if needed and put the plug wire back on and start the engine
