  • How sad that Mia Farrow cut her throat in DEATH ON THE NILE...

  • Serge is sexy and masculine also pure talant!!!

  • wow she's still beautiful at her age :O

  • Comment removed

  • she says: "life was happy life was GAY" :)

I know what she meant it.. but it sounds funny :)

  • So sad that they broke up!

They should have made a great clip at Costa Rica!

The sexy ginsterbush and Brigitte, Jane and Catherine

    making hula hula around! Beautiful!

Is he Dead? And Catherine Mom? Unbelievable!

  • @zlatanja666 ROFLMAO

  • They were a lovely, sexy couple.

Jane is the better of the two -- and, I do find Serge extremely sexy. Jane is the stronger and the kindest.

  • well, he has got the genius which made her shine...artistically there no doubt who is the best and on what would one judge an artist? On how kind and strong they are? What the point?

  • aw... serge gainsbourg is so sweet. papa deux :D

  • I did not know she was English..!! She is still very beautiful..

  • Shes part brittish part french

  • She's fully English. Born to English parents in London, 1946.

  • @AbeNW11 oooooh! she is famous because of a french man! without him, nothing would have happened to her. Bu I do respect her. By the way, she does not live in England for a very long time. What do you think that means?

  • @KK062 Ask Jane what that means. Still doesn't take away the fact that she is English. She was a famous model before she met Serge and she was an actress. She wouldn't be known as a singer without Serge tho. But still famous. She went to live in France when she married Serge and built up the life she has now.

  • @KK062 that serge didnt want to move to London?

  • @KK062 La Xenophobe!

  • @Sagodocka She is British but lives in France for most of her adult life. That kind of mak her part French.

  • What a beautiful, graceful, gentle, kind and intelligent lady Jane is. A brilliant cultural ambassador.

  • She has aged so beautifuly. It gives me optimisim knowing that if we try, we don't have to turn ugly when we get old. She has that spirit in her , always did, and the body will follow the spirit no matter what.

  • @ekstrajohn yeah she also succeeded to never put on weight, which helps to appear younger

  • Serge was a very smart man and one of the best French artist ever. But sometimes also a pain in a butt.

  • the last few comments are stupid....this woman is beautiful, generous and has class....she is intelligent, generous, open-minded and not trapped in a celebrity box like most others...

  • Jane is still beautiful.

  • Gainsbourg was a great talent but the way he did this woman, a rare beauty, must not be overlooked. He should have treasured her, after all as much as i enjoy his music, i have everything on Phillips, ect, he was not a looker to say the least.

  • yoko ono a genious???? bah

  • i find you both are somehow right. i mean: he was great, insolent and in the last years too much full of himself. but jane still brights of a reflected light and singing is not really her stuff...but when she doesn't sing, then i like her!

  • At one time, she was an incredible beauty in the world.

How could such a beauty turn into this ordinary-looking woman next door all of a sudden?

  • Well, this is what she looks like with glasses, without makeup and her hair in a mess. And it wasn't all of a sudden, it took forty years!

  • It's called middle-age.

  • blanket92001, she's still beautiful, too bad u can only appreciate girls, not women

  • serge had charm

  • She is much better without the ghastly Gainsbourg

  • Serge Gainsbourg was a genious..You must cross your heart when you speak of him. I am sure that Jane Birkin would say the same thing. She would not "BE" without having met him.

  • Dear Canadien, Gainsbourg was not a genius (note correct spelling). He was a great songwriter but also a drunken insolent lout. The best thing that Jane ever did was to leave him. Now she IS and I admire her for that.

  • Sorry to disagree with you but Serge Gainsbourg was a genius ( You and your correctness..!? ) Like most genious he was deranged. Look at Salvatore Dali, Picasso, Einstein for that matter. Jane never really left him..We never leave people like Serge Gainsbourg even dead he is still with us. Cross your heart when you speak of him. Amen. By The way I am an Australian now but that's beside the point.

  • No, he was not deranged. He was consumed with self loathing because of his evident ugliness. He bedded some of the leading beauties of the time (Bardot et al) but could still not find peace. His behaviout towards women was not funny and it was not clever.

It is not my habit to cross my heart and I am not about to break it for that sad dead degenerate.

Congratulations on your colony hopping - where next?

  • Oh you are a hard women ! I am not going to convince you so we must agree to disagree. If you have the oportunity to listen to his song and his writing without prejudices you may discover that indeed he was disturbed by his own perceived ugliness but Jane Birkin, Brigitte Brdot and Catherine Deneuve could see the inhirent beauty that lay in all of us. Women are often treated the way they desrves to be treated but that's another story !

  • I rather liked Gainsbourg's songs, it was just that I found him offensive. A bit like the odious John Lennon. I am not a women nor even a woman; what gender are you?

  • What gender am I ? Sometimes I wonder ? Ha ha ! ha ! But really with a name like 'Le" Canadiererrant what else can I be but a MAN. But of course I embrace "Feminism". I am glad you like Gainsbourd's songs afterall. There is hope for you ..Hi Hi Hi I understand you can find Gainsbourg and Lennon offensive. You need to be offensive to brake down barrière and status quo. By the way I always prefered Yoko Ono to John Lennon, she's a genious too.

  • in my opinion he is very beautiful - he is very attractive! He has charisma and the thing, other men have not. I like it, if people don´t look like an ideal. And when i watch his videos, i see the light in his face! He is not ugly! And if he has think so - then it´s sad, because he should have not.

  • Complete agreement. There's just something about him I find very attractive.

  • Quelqu'un a la suite ?

  • I love Jane Birkin !!!!!

  • Fuck she speak so speed , i don't understand anything!

    In french please !

  • She said that when she left gainsbourg he was the first surprised, but when she said she was pregnant with her second girl, he wanted to be the godfather and took care of her by writing more songs for her. She idn't mention WHY she left him if that's what you'd like to know.

  • @againstauthoritys yeah, how funny is that eh? A woman that speaks so slowly in French gets all fast in her mothertongue...

  • She made her film debut as one of the "birds" who invade David Hemmings' studio in Antonioni's "Blow Up" and was a face and form for the 60's.

  • she still sings nowadays

she s a great actress too (a must see : "Je t'aime moi non plus" (1976), first serge gainsbourg film with her, & Gerard Depardieu also - which brought scandals)

she s the mother of Charlotte Gainsbourg, & her 2d daughter is Lou Doillon, actress (his father is a well known french movie maker - his movie subjects always involve children and teenagers)

  • Jane Birkin is english but lives in France since the sixties whn she met her husband Serge gainsboourg. They sang the lovely love song "Je t'aime... moi non plus"

  • I want to know more information about Jane Birkin.
