  • Deaf ppl can feel the sound on the floor and all around them its a feeling like as if it where vibrating

  • 6:12 You can clearly see it's Vanessa Atler.

  • How is Dana on time with her floor music if she is deaf?

  • This is so nerve racking!

  • :27 the guy with the large glasses and mustache looks like a child rapist

  • poor Dana

  • Damn!

  • um ok folks let think about this.... she has a sign language coach to let her know when they say her name. We have already seen this coach a few times. And second deaf athletes are given other options for cues as far as music and sound goes. A deaf swimmer in the olympics was given a strobe light that would go off when the buzzer for the other swimmers went off. I'm sure it would be something close to that.

  • okay i have a question, how can the deaf girl hear her floor music?

  • @93Kristennn or when they say her name 00:46???

  • @justemoikmie this wasn't thought through properly haha

  • Comment removed

  • @93Kristennn She doesn't. What she probably does is memorize and stick closely to the timing of the choreography, and hope that it goes with the music.

  • this movie makes me want to eat a burger and go to practice.

  • wow. dayna fell on kind of a simple move on the vault. Don't elite gymnasts have to do harder stuff?

  • more missing scenes :( Why didn't you upload the whole movie?

  • When that Dayna girl (How ever you spell it) fell on her back and started crying, it made me crying.. i feel so bad for her.

  • The girl who plays Diana, Aimee Walker, is actually deaf and blind in one eye. And she's on the gymnastics team at UCLA. She's also married. I think she's amazing, even if she didn't have the deafness and blindness. Her floor routine was OUTSTANDING.

  • it would actually work to the deaf girl's advantage to be deaf, because sounds would not distract her.

  • @bbhouk1 But learning everything would be extremely difficult. You can't hear what your coach is telling you. Also, the girl who plays Diana is deaf and blind in one eye, which screws up your depth perception. You have no idea how hard it is to jump around with no depth perception.

  • @missAlessa2009

Actually I do have an idea. I have multiple physical problems and am a gymnast.

  • @bbhouk1 Then why would you say it would be to her advantage? Sure, it would be nice not to hear the crowd, but learning everything would be about ten times as hard.

  • @bbhouk1 And what gymnast doesn't have multiple physical problems? Can you hear your floor music? Do you have depth perception and panoramic vision?

Even by petty gymnastics standards, your statement is just too ridiculous for words.

  • @happyjellyfish

    oh deal with it.

and i had multiple physical problems BEFORE I was a gymnast

  • Yes! The audio is back!

  • I like how Dana's mother is supportive even when her landing on vault is so bad. All she says is "Aww, c'mon Dana!" instead of being a b*tch to her like the coach is.

  • Omg. She keeps falling. My heart is beating SO fast. OMG!!!

  • Shit, if a man kissed me even on the cheeks in front of my husband he would kill me.. and the man lol

  • the pain killers were throwing her off balance

  • OMG, when the girl went on the beam the second time, I couldn't look.

    && I loove Dana <3

  • i wish i knew wut the coach was saying 2 her after she got off the beam!

  • poorgirl that dang beam routine

  • screw copyright this is insane

  • fuck copyright fuck!

  • screw youtube

  • i agree now i know hw the deaf girl feels :p

  • @bunnyuky thats rude

  • oh no......yes very annoying......thank you for the upload as well...this happens sometimes.....

  • I looked it up; unlike the kid who played Katie, the girl who played the deaf gymnast is actually deaf and blind in one eye *and* was an elite level gymnast. They said that they chose music with simple beats for her and told her when to start. I'm guessing that she did it mostly by counting to keep on the beat.

  • you need to repost this part.

  • lolz, i so smelled that kiss coming 5 parts ago. I was hoping for an affair, but I doubt they'll go that far. who knows though.

  • what if you put subtitles so we can know what is going on?

  • f*** WMG i want the sound!!!

  • this is soo anoying that you cant hear the music

but anyway i was wondering how does the deaf girl hear her music and the right timing?

  • She can feel the music, and she could also be timing it in her head.

  • @EzzThompo i wondered that earlier in the movie once i learned she was deaf. im guessing she just has the routine down pat in her muscle memory

  • i swear somebody needs to make a different site just like youtube that doesnt do all this blocking shit

  • Damn it I would've liked to watch this one with sound like what good is that? Stupid youtube

  • God damnit, i kinda would have liked

to hear this along with seeing it lol.

    fuckin youtube

  • aww it sucks that they have disabled the sound just because of some dumb audio track in the movie :( i was really getting into this movie!

  • At least the part they muted was easy to follow. The audio wasn't required to know what happened, this section is very visual

    =]

  • I meant, Vanessa was Courtney's stunt double, sorry.

  • because i don't have the film anymore

  • why don't you just reload part seven in two parts so the sound is not cut off for the entire clip?

  • I know Vanessa Atler was Courtney Peldon who plays Katie's stunt double but I find it funny how Katie's beam routine is similar to the one Vanessa Atler's uses in real life competitions.

  • i was just thinking that!

  • they copyrighted the song at the beginning and they only check the first 30 seconds teh song was at the end of the 6th part but at the beginning of the 7th so i guess we are sol fucking youtube

  • This is bullshit... Whoever it was at Youtube headquarters that did this ought ot be taken out and shot... Dumbass...

  • Well.. at least we are getting it from the deaf girls perspective. Not said with sarcasm.. just a thought.

  • :D Yes, but she gets sign language.

  • ARG this is sooo stupit!! I want to have the sound, and cannot find any other online clip of this part grrr!

  • I KNOW!!!!!!

  • i love how her mom says shes fine like twice after it happened and u can tell by her face shes knows her daughter isnt fine gosh

  • grrrr how stupid they won't let you hear the video, that is so lame.

  • I wish they would just remove the section with the song, not the whole videos worth. :(

  • i know, it's so frustrating. :(

  • Grrrr.... this is the second time today that YouTube has ruined a video for me!

  • sadly, this is the only part 7 of this movies we have to watch, and its mute

  • Fuck youtube

  • i want SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's too bad.. stupid WMG. My videos got sound taken off, too.

  • Why on earth is the competition done in spotlights? No serious gymnastics competition is done like that-you're not even allowed to use flash while taking photos...

  • Think about it from a video point of view. Flashing lights are more interesting than none.

  • affair alert

  • aw dang it was just getting good

  • yeez, why is it mute? Stupid youtube! Very anoying!

  • i agree! motherfucker! this is the best part of the movie!

  • arghh! why only on some parts?

  • this is really fustrating!!!! y is youtube muting random videos

  • what was the first vault she fell on? a handspring or a yamashita?

  • How does youtube find these videos to mute?

    Does someone tip them off?

  • would someone like to point out to the makers of this movie that flash photography isn't allowed in gymnastics?

  • youtube strikes again

  • poor dana

  • her coach is gonna kill her cuz she fell off da beam

  • stupid copyright nonsense.

  • thanks..!! for desactivate the music ;(

  • how does diana dance on her routine music...

    she can't hear it...^^;

  • she probaly times it

  • deaf/hard of hearing people hear/feel the vibrations and count. Im deaf in one ear and slightly hard of hearing in the other ear, but i heavily rely on the beats and rhythmn of the music when I perform (Im a dancer)

  • My complete admiration and respect to you... I´m a dancer as well.

  • me too especially when I dance. I can only rely on beat vibrations and count.

  • there are special arrangements for death/hard of hearing gymnasts. they have a light and a count down on a board... they know when to start, and then they just know exactly what rythm to have in their routine. which is why i was really pissed off to see rosa galieva leave the arena in tears in the AA in 1996, because she couldn't hear the music over the cheering crowd. she was a professional, she shouldn't have needed the music.

  • dammit!!

  • now we know how Diana feels

  • lmao!

  • ahah thats what i was thinking

  • ugh i want to hear the sound! What is her coach saying when she falls??

  • I have this movie memorized....which part?

  • nevermind my friend told me, thanks though!

  • aaaaaaaaa makes me so mad

  • What a crock of shit!

  • Oh for fuck's sake ... the sooner WMG and Youtube have sex and make up the better.

  • There is no audio as the video contains an audio track that has not been authorised by WMG. The audio has been disabled.

  • I hope you all can read lips because this video has no sound!

  • Wow Thanks youtube.

  • poor katie at the invintational

  • How can the deaf girl hear her music? O.o...just curious.

  • She can feel the vibrations from the beats and rhythms. :)

  • how can dana fll on a handspring

  • God that coach is a dick!!

  • its liek the easiest vault in the world. are these girls sposed to be goin to olympics?? i know its a movie, but come on

  • i know...that move isn't even worth anything. its like the basic move that kindergartners do

  • I'm so glad the little death girl made the team!

  • death?

  • Somebody else called her death instead of deaf. I was just following up.

  • Oh, I must have missed that. XD

  • Can the coach get any more abusive? He's never supportive!!

  • she's not an elite gymnast, but this movie gives the right insight of how hard elite gymnasts have to work to get that far. I was an elite gymnast for a couple of years. But I had an accident on the bars :-S and broke my back.

  • you BROKE your BACK??? O_O that's horrible!!!! how long ago was that?

  • It's been a while. about 12 years ago. I'm 26 years old now. I had to lay on my back for 2 months. And then 6 month of fysio. I'm alright now.

  • Glad to hear you're ok now :o) Take care! :o)

  • fuck danas mom

  • I don't think anyone really wants to.

Another example of a parent trying to live through their child. So sad.

  • owie

  • okay I seriously want to punch Dana's mother!

  • In the stomach, please lol

  • In this movie it looks like the dad took the place of how the mom would usually act these type of movies. >>

  • exactly and in the beginning he was the one pushing for her to go to this coach and the mom was a bit resistant, how roles have switched.. interesting.

  • i feel like the movie title trapped me. it should have been called "gymnastics girl." i was hoping for a really juicy story...but nothings happening!

  • I think the name "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes" is really expressive 'cos these girls are shown to the whole world as the well-built, muscular and beautiful elite gymnasts. Yet, only a few people know how much struggle and pain they go through to be that way.

  • Watch "The Perfect Body." It's basically the same story only with more realism. It's on youtube.

  • thanks. i've seen it. it's certainly better than this one. btw, sandra, i still think the title has very little to do with the content of this film. that would have been a better title for a movie on pageant girls. i understand what they were trying to say, but the only thing about this movie that's interesting *is* the title. :P

  • for a 14 year old girl: that bar routine was pretty basic. She'd get nothing for that at the olympics

  • it not the death girl. is deaf

  • tatulover2120 I think you mean the "deaf" girl not death girl. She isn't a grim reaper...LOL!

    ;-)

  • Dana landed on her back, with an already injury, it was irritated by it.

Diana counts is how she did the routine. The girl who protrayed her is/was a gymnast in real life that trained with the girl that did Katie's stunts.

  • Why am I still watching this??

  • how can diana hear the music for the floor??

  • she doesn't, she just memorizes the choreography

  • I would like Diana's father to be with her mother, I don't like the father. The coach is really tough but he is not mean at all.

  • what is the name of first song?

  • The music is from Bizet's Carmen.

  • she landed on her butt, why would she be paralyzed from that?

  • She already had something going on with her back.

  • diana is soo nice and pretty

  • i luv how they r supposed to be elite and r doing the vaults 7 year olds do haha... but the pain part of this movie is real..my friend gets shots in her back because of her pain and her mom still makes her do gym=(

  • Actually in the practice in part 6 they were doing yurchenkos (albeit only 1 twist). Find me a 7 year old that can do a yurchenko.....

  • ha srry i didnt mean the yurchenkos i ment the front handspring

  • LOL yeah well. Often Elite gymnasts will utilize more easy skills in order to to connect skills...or simply for fluff in a routine :)

  • OOH LOL you mean the front handsprings in the vaults...oh on that part I think she was Actually trying to do another vault but strained her back. AND one does that simple vault often to warm up even as an Elite.

  • are they honestly seven years old.

  • yep my cousin was seven wen she was level six, and they do front handsprings on the vault

  • I always assumed that she was going for a front handspring front or something and freaked out and stopped in the middle because of the pain. I've done that before and it sucks because not only are you in pain but your score ends up being really low due to missed element

  • pretty rubbish arent they

  • lol Vanessa's same beam routine choreography too lol.

  • adn why is it like pitch black in that gym!?!

  • i hate how she only has 2 tumbling passes in her routine. and they make it seem like only one person goes at once cause like everyone is watching just her.

  • wow that somewhere over the rainbow is really making me, it comes in at the wrong times lol

  • pobre diana es increible q le pasara eso wueno aunque en el mundo d la gimnasia todo puede pasar

  • HAve there been any really good deaf gymnasts? That woudl be really neat :)

  • A gymnast from the 80s named Marie Rothliesberger who is the older sister of John Rothliesberger who competeted in 3 olympics 92 96 and 2000

  • i love that version of "somewhere over the rainbow" but it was so inapporpriate in this scene.

  • Im an elite gymnast and this is no where near how "mean" the sport is!!!

  • I'm feeling your pain. I'm trying for elite. I just qualified to the US Challenge

  • Wow nice job. What gym to do you train at?

  • the beam routine she did is like exactly what vanessa atler did. its definately her!

  • Actually she is not really good.. look at her floor exercise it is all show but nothing serious difficultt

  • If i tried to do half of what they do on the mats, id break my neck lol
