What year will the final episode will begin? I'm getting sick of the new young and the resless Avery want's to re-connect with her sister Phyllis only a little bit she is still heartbroken.
This is very insteresting I watch the young and the resless everyday at 4:30 watching Avery Bailey Clark she got a new boyfriend she is in Genral City.
ive heard casey reed returns. last year snapper from the 70's. can't they bring back Brad elliot or someone from the foster or brooks clan. they are loveley
My prediction is Y&R will end it's run on CBS on their 40th anniversary (2013). I also believe they will bring back those families (Brooks, Fosters, Prientess) or past characters from the show for the final episode. I think they will pay homege to this very first opening scene of Y&R and a big tribute to the late Bill Bell on the final episode, just my thoughts.
@MrJuly1990ish CBS would be stupid to let Y&R go. Y&R is not like other soap operas. They've been the #1 soap opera for quite some time, so unless the creators want to end their own show, I don't think Y&R will ever go. I hope not.
I'm sorry, but Y&R is not the same anymore, and that's it, it has become like "other soaps" now, if not worst! I'm like WTF are these writers doing to this once great show? I enjoyed the Y&R of yesteryears. It was better written, character development, acted, great storytelling and plot driven. This Y&R today (other fans express as well), is not the show it use to be. When the great Bill Bell passed away, sad to say Y&R died as well and that's just my personal opinion.
They should have kept Genoa City SMALL, should have kept a good portion of the ORIGINAL music cues (even if updated a little), should have kept more of a focus on families rather than aloof individuals, should go back to moodier lighting, should go back to better storytelling with better climaxes, and for goodness sake, start casting some BETTER CHARACTERS rather than dull ones!!!
I love all of the early background music from the '70s on this show, and wish they would release it all to the public. The old LP just doesn't give you much.
I missed the disappearance of the Brooks & Foster family storylines in early '80's, when they started to bring in "new core" families i.e the Abbotts, Newmans. The Chancellors emerged in G.C. IN late '73 Which helped bring in Victor Newman. The Brooks/Foster family, while still interesting, just ran its course. They had to bring in new families who had Money & power & which make for better storylines. The Rapid aging is used too Much i.e Adam for instance was born in 1995 & now he's in his 30's.
I always felt that, the writers could have keep the history of the Brooks and the Foster family on the show with the younger generation. I mean Snapper and Chris Forster did have a daughter, also Lucus and Lesliey did have a son. I personally feel the Abbotts and the Newmans have "ran their course" I mean, if you think about it, they (Abbotts & Newmans) surpass the Brooks & the Fosters combined of being the longest two families dominating the show for the past 20 years!
@MrJuly1990ish I was really young when the show revolved around the Brooks/Fosters, however, I do remembers the storylines during that time. The roles of Leslie, Chris, Snapper, Greg, and Peggy had already been recast at least once and many of the actors who played these roles had decided not to renew their contracts. Then to top it off, Jamie Lyn Bauer decided to leave the show. So, Bill Bell decided to take the show in a different direction, rather than re-casting the core families.
I agree, but I always felt the character Peggy Brooks could have been recast. Peggy was already involved with Paul Williams older brother Steve (I thought they had good chemistry), when they started to shape the Williams family. To me, the writers didn't give those characters (Steve & Peggy) a chance to connect with the viewers. I mean, before we knew it, both characters were drop from the show and the focus was on Jack and Patty, which I thought didn't have any chemistry at all.
The Chancellors emerged in November 1973. Garfield Dandridge Chancellor was Phillip (Kay's ex) great great great grandfather-a Civil War hero who inspired the creation of Genoa City.
yes she is on at the end of this one. May be in another clip though. She's trying to track down MIA fiancee Brad Elliott. This role was a far cry from Marlena Evans or Jesse Witherspoon.
How it all began with a truck. Funny how this Daytime Drama set the standard back then. Most of the popular shows were still using the Organ but that changed very quick. Search For Tomorrow would still hang on to it until the next year.
Actually it was the Williams and Abbotts families that phased out the Fosters and the Brooks in 1982. Victor and Nikki were on the show but not married. The Newmans weren't considered a core family until they aged Victoria and Nicolas in the 90's.
The pious Williams debuted in early 79(maybe late 78) Nikki Reed was still on there(first by Erica Hope, then by Melody Thomas) but she was not known as Victor's wealthy wife, she was a girl who narrowly escaped being raped by her father, by killing him in self defense, then was tortured into doing porn and prostituition. She also got gonorrhea from Paul. Her and Vic met when she stripped in 81 I believe. Jack Abbott arrived in 80, closely followed by father John. Victor and Julia in early 80.
It is also one of the few shows, where they phased out the core families for new ones, and the show STILL remained successful. However, only two original characters still remain, even today, that is JIll Foster Abbott and Katherine Chancellor. So, that means there is that connection to the past.
Looking back, It would have been difficult to have the Brooks and Fosters only on the show because if romantically paired, then incest would be the case all around the show(which seems to be the case for soaps) there had to be a balance of family and romance for the times.
I wasn't born until 1982. i feel the same way, i loved to see how Y&R began, look where it is now...and even what it was like 10-15 yrs after this scene aired!
Yeah but the revenge garbage does get a little bit old. He and the Abbotts really need to stop this petty vendetta that is now killing people. Their not getting any older and they've wasted so much of their lives just on "besting" each other. The best course of revenge is to stay away from each other. Their only letting each other win with these petty skirmishes. Y@R has gotten lame as it's more about business politics, yet you never see anyone doing any actual work.
@imachildofthe80s8089 But the feud between the Newmans and the Abbotts is what drives this show. At the core of everything going on in Genoa City, you can always depend on that one thing.
Wow, this is amazing to see. I wasn't even born yet when this aired, so to actually see how my favorite soap started is great. Thanks for uploading this!
