I watched the movie last night, and I would say that it was a good film, and it made me more interested in Joy division's music, it made me really HATE Ian Curtis! If the portrayal was really accurate, then Curtis was a self-absorbed, self-obsessed, self-pitying, sniveling little cunt, and a shit father. I felt sorry for his wife and child and not a bit for him.
se volete sapere tutto su Unknown Pleasures è stato pubblicato da No reply il bel libro di Chris Ott, costa solo 12 euro e vi spiega riga per riga cosa c'è in quell'album è pubblicato da NoReply
jean genie the sad story debbie curtis corbijn black and white sam riley all joy division songs sex pistiols john cooper clarke manchester salford then atmosphere.. best film for ages...so well cut..it had everything R I P Ian Curtis
True, but if you've lived in the UK for almost 30 years and have spoken English on a daily basis for so long, I guess it's easy to mess up a few words when you do speak in your first language again. Some people might even develop a slight English accent.
Anton Corbijn is cool and did a brilliant job in directing Control and the video of Atmosphere, always liked Joy Division and grew up on it, but like them even more now.
does anybody know when it will be released in US? I am pretty sure they said 10 october. I live in NY so I think there is a theater that i can see it in, does anybody know how i find out which theater will show it?
Just saw the movie Control at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday morning at 9. I was glad to see that the theatre was full and was enjoyed by many.
Just saw the film last night at the Brisbane International Film Festival(in Australia). It's is excellent! Samantha Morton and Sam Riley are the movie, so good. Now I have to wait for the DVD......
"Joy Division Central reports that the film will be released in the UK on the 5th October according to Q magazine. The IMDb states that the film will also be released in France on the 26th September 2007 and in the Netherlands on the 4th October 2007."
From Wiki... but joydivDOTorg says the UK release is September. Not sure who to trust here.
Yeah I don't really like the word "pop" either, especially when people use it to describe a rock 'n roll group. But Dutch media regularly does that. I guess they're just trying to differentiate between "modern" and "classical" music, I dunno. Oh well, who cares - this film will rock!
Its funny you should say that becuase the guy who plays Ian Curtis in Control was also in 24hr Party People. I forgot which character he played though!

How come "his english is a bit better than his dutch"? I mean he`s dutch, for Christ` s sake. How can he forget his own language.

Does anyone know the title of the music that plays from 4:37?
blooddude 3 years ago
Ok I found it on my David Bowie album Low :-)
I don't know why, but I thought it was a Depeche Mode B-Side...
blooddude 3 years ago
It is called "Warszawa", that track inspired Ian to name his band "Warsaw".

Sam Riley played Mark E. Smith in 24-Hour Party People.

He really pulls off the Ian Curtis facial expressions well, but his voice is a wee bit off.
Still, I am so excited - Hopefully this comes to the USA
