inspiring work right there.. Scalectric was never for kids, I remember my dads track as a kid, built to run inside the model train track, I was only allowed into the attic if he was there to supervise me
hey im getting a scalextric track for my layout this weekend but is the controllers that come with them good or should i upgrade them as money isnt an issue
i'm planning on making some micro scalextric vw campervan's to sell on ebay. they'll be on ebay by january2010 and i'd love feedback to know basically if anyone would buy them.
send me your thoughts on the idea and more importantly if you would buy one.
@nickbloy micro's cheaper :) and doesnt take as much space :P besides the "Micro" was the original scalextric. They just made bigger ones, then changed the older one to "micro" old school ftw.
@JBofBrisbane I had the small version years ago as a kid 0,o only ever noticed the larger ones afterwards :o I know again theyre making them and calling it micro... but. meh
@mikeyb2k9 - are you sure you're not talking about Aurora Thunderjet or AFX? That's the same size as Micro Scalextric. Okay, I never heard of 1:64 Scalextric before, but I only saw the 1:32 version until AFX, and then Tyco, started being advertised here in the early seventies - when I was a kid.
Anyone else hear of Scalextric cars smaller than 1:32 scale way back when?
I dug out my old scalextric the other day, because my 3 year old cousin had just got his "my first scalextric" set - and i'm having great fun just setting up layouts and stuff!
Lovely.. That looks like an amazingly built circuit.
Its 1 of those things. When you are a child and you are expected to play with slot cars, you aren't old enough to do anything interesting then when you are at an age where you can buy it and create layouts like that, people say your too old to be doing it.
All I know is, im 21 and i'd love to have a slot car circuit like yours, or a big train set haha :).
Hey. What is the real difference between Standard and Digital. Because I want to get some for Christmas, and I'm Wondering to get Standard or Digital, Bearing in mind i don't have much money.
Sweet Lord!!! this set is beautiful!!! I had a small set as a kid and loved it until it was completely weared out, but I wonder why that car doesn't get out of the track on those tight curves?, because with the one I had you had to take them really slow or the car would roll out of the track, which was really cool! I want one again really bad!!!
A couple of the cars have extra strong magnets which pretty much 'glue' them to the track whatever the speed. Essential for my Grandson at the moment otherwise he would be felling lots of trees!
I have no real idea. It was a long term project. Don't really want to work it out as I may upset myself. Whoever gets the house will get the scalextric! It's not really practical to dismantle it.
That is so cool. Have a Revel Lotus Cortina and Scalextric Escort RS1600 sitting on my PC desk, neither have run on trackj though as I just don't have the time to pull it all out the cupboard. Quite tempted to dig it all out now but the wife will go loopy
No table - it's on the attic floor, with track set into those green fibre boards that you use under laminate flooring. Just laid the track, marked the outline on the board, took the track up and cut the shape out of the boards and relaid the track. What kind of track? Just standard scalextric
Cool!
