As a KU fan, this is still painful to watch. Even though we lost to northern iowa, we still won the big 12 tourney and we also earned our 2000th victory that year. So we still added some trophies to our trophy case.. and Kansas is in the elite 8 this year (as of this comment posted) and we will get farther. KSU and MU have yet to get a national champion title in men's basketball. so they can shut the f*ck up.
I want to see some 2011 NCAA tournament highlights from Northern Iowa oh thats right they couldn't even make it out the MVC. Thats the difference between a great program and one that got lucky one night.

Funny how everyone forgets the fact that that 3-pointer Farokhmanesh took was probably the DUMBEST thing he could have done in that situation. If he had missed, he would in all probability now be considered the dumbest player in tournament history, because Kansas would have rebounded down by 1, and if you look at the clock, it would have been under 35 seconds so they would have gotten last shot. Southern Illinois in 2007 was the best MVC in many decades and Kansas defeated them in the sweet 16. We don't have any real history and probably never will, but at least our fan base isn't extremely arrogant like yours.

Hahaha mizzou and ksu fans can't talk at all.. Yes this N. Iowa was a HUGE upset.. but VCU had been beating everyone in that tournament. They beat Georgetown, Destroyed purdue and beat a Florida st team that just beat Notre Dame. VCU is a very good team and they were hot at the right time and got some huge wins. Elite 8 is not a dissapointing season and you kno KU always rebuilds as you've seen from lst year losing 3 NBA players and still winning the conference and finishing 35-3

As a KU fan, this is still painful to watch. Even though we lost to northern iowa, we still won the big 12 tourney and we also earned our 2000th victory that year. So we still added some trophies to our trophy case.. and Kansas is in the elite 8 this year (as of this comment posted) and we will get farther. KSU and MU have yet to get a national champion title in men's basketball. so they can shut the f*ck up.

Funny how everyone forgets the fact that that 3-pointer Farokhmanesh took was probably the DUMBEST thing he could have done in that situation. If he had missed, he would in all probability now be considered the dumbest player in tournament history, because Kansas would have rebounded down by 1, and if you look at the clock, it would have been under 35 seconds so they would have gotten last shot. (This is not a Kansas fan here, so please don't flame me, UNI fans).

@jaca6614 It's not dumb if you make it plus UNI was getting offensive rebounds all day in that game and there were a couple of UNI players back so their is no guarantee that the Gayhawks would have gotten the rebound. The Gayhawks have a history of choking in the tournament and I very much look forward to seeing it happen again especially if they lose to Missouri State...

@martian2351 Well, no shot is dumb if you make it. All I'm saying is UNI would have been better off if Farokhmanesh had just driven to the basket or tried to run some time off and get fouled rather than take a chance three and quite possibly miss. And yeah, there were some UNI guys back for the rebound, but it was still three-on-two and Kansas had a lot more size so UNI basically would have had to get a lucky bounce. The whole thing obviously still worked out for them, but I'm just saying...

@EyeAmTheIlluminati That's what my KU friends told me last year during the Northern Iowa game. "KU would murder any Valley teams," "Keep talking, you're going to eat your words," I've heard it all. And don't act like that SIU game didn't have you on the edge of your seat. Luckily for the Hawks they got enough whistles to stay in that game.
KU is 1-2 against teams they should have "murdered" according to their fans, and that one win didn't come easily.

It was their 14th Final Four. How many Final Fours have Missouri Valley teams been to? Everyone gets upset from time to time. Duke lost to VCU a few years ago, North Carolina lost to 15 seed Weber State, etc, etc. Fact is, Kansas is the only team that is in the tournament every single year. Upsets are inevitable

My point is that KU struggles against MVC teams in the tournament. As a Wichita State fan, I really wish KU would schedule us. Do I think we would win? Probably not. I think we definitely could, but 7/10 times KU wins that game. Would it be fun to watch either way? Hell yeah!

@SeanWithSticks06 I actually agree that Kansas should play Wichita State every year. The attacks on Kansas for being "choke artists" are extremely annoying. We did not show up for the Northern Iowa game, and all the credit in the world goes to them for playing an unbelievable game. If Kansas came out with a sense of urgency to start, then they would have destroyed NIU. The game was a fluke; 96 times out of 100, Kansas wins that game.

@SeanWithSticks06 As for Bradley, they were an experienced, senior lead team going up against a bunch of Kansas freshman in 2006. Southern Illinois in 2007 was the best MVC in many decades and Kansas defeated them in the sweet 16. MVC is a terrific confidence for being midmajor, no question, but to say that they own Kansas because of two games is pretty ridiculous.

@TheFloppyDog1 Kansas is NOT a top three basketball program anymore and really hasn't been for quite some time now. Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA are all names of programs that have been and always will be more relevant than Kansas. I grew up in Chicago and have moved on to the Cedar Falls, Iowa area and am a HUGE UNI fan. My favorite program is Iowa - I won't lie. We don't have any real history and probably never will, but at least our fan base isn't extremely arrogant like yours.

Sure, UCLA was great in the 70's during the John Wooden era but when else have they been consistently good. As far as Arizona goes they really have not been that relevant at all this past decade and I'd honestly and unbiasedly put Kansas miles ahead of them. Though Kansas may not have the most titles, they have perhaps been the most consistent.

Kansas" video randomly, but I do believe Kansas is "a top three basketball program." I live in Tennessee and can tell you that the three most popular basketball programs to Tennesseans are Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky. With Kansas winning the NCAA Championship against Memphis in 2008 in one of the best finals in history, I'd say they're pretty relevant.
