Shaw wasn't so bad. I kind of liked him in the beginning. Chuck needed a mentor, a real mentor and someone who wasn't Sarah, and for the briefest of flashes, Shaw looked to be filling that role. I think they really accelerated the storyline because of the uncertainty over the show's future, so we saw the douchey parts of Shaw quickly after seeing his good side, since they had to turn him into a bad guy. I think with more time, his story would've been more even-keeled.
