I only use this pedal at home, in combination with a small 60 Watt transistor Crate amp (the same sound which you hear in this video, though). For home use, I think it is perfect, but for live gigs I think this pedal is way too blurry, noisy and it also has too much treble. I never succeeded in getting a good sound out of it on stage. So yeah, I think it is not a suitable pedal for live use. When playing live, I use the new Peavey 6505+ head in combination with a 4x12 inch speaker cabinet. \m/

Most common is 1/2 step down, like Slayer. Some bands will play standard, others will use dropped D, like Pantera or LOG. European bands like to play 2 steps down. I use 1 step down for thrash and black metal. It all depends on the songs, who you wanna sound like, etc. The only answer is try 'em all! Use appropriate string gauges, though, or you'll fuck up your guitars tension and it might damage the neck...

For home playing (like in the video) I use a shitty 50 Watt Crate amp and for the guitar shreds I use the Boss MT-2 Metalzone pedal.

I did not change any pick up. The guitar is still in it's original state since I bought it (except for the strings, of course), so it still has it's "Duncan Designed" pick ups.

I would recommend switching your Duncan Design pupd (which arent good.) To Duncan Invaders, especially if your guitar is made of basswood. (Which I think yours is, if im not mistaken.)
