  • Sorry as it is called that kind of guitar?

  • dude, you just told a tooooooooottttaallllll lie. open d and open g. the increments between strings arent even similar man. you cant transpose ANY licks from one to the other AT ALL.

  • @IBG67 dude, open d and open E, stop crankin ur amp and you wont damage ur ears anymore..... and actually there's tons and TONS of stuff that can be played in both D and G tunings...just take the time to figure it out, it's very possible and quite fun

  • @lostintheblues my bad i thought you said open d and open G were the same! and i dont have an amp, ive never owned an electric guitar. cant stand the things. and i have played for many many years, so that comment totally made me sound like an amateur. my apologies!

  • well bukka can be played in any tuning if someone wants to, i think this guy and many others, including myself prove it all the time, but it's nice that you share some info on how bukkha tuned for his songs

  • gawd bless ya mate, thanks a lot for your time.

  • Hey! Nice work! Are you playing with a Vintage AMG1 ?

  • very good lesson, sir.

  • Nice job. Others have noted that Bukka usually used the open Em instead of the major, which is odd. The only other bluesman who comes to mind for using the Em was Skip James, who used it for its evil mournfulness, but Bukka used it quite differently, generally playing in the major by simply fretting the G string. You'd think that defeats the whole purpose of an open tuning, but somehow it works.

  • Excellent lesson! You are a nice teacher. Do you have other stuff? I'll ask first then look around. Thanks so much.

  • Never mind my suggestion :I see it's just at the beginning here but not any of your other vids..good work

Anyone else watching this..check out his other vids..this guys good..

Check out his Robert Johnson...Well Done

  • This is really good stuff, bud

One suggestion if I may..When you refer to strings, just name them 1 - 6..we'll understand and you won't have to go through the notes references in the different tunings

I play in open G and it all works fine...all the fingerings match up of course because it's open tuning..that's all one needs to worry about.

So just give the string numbers and everyone will understand.

  • @RedmanicSeven hi mate, i know you wrote that comment ages ago but I'm learning this piece and I don't know what you mean about the tuning- if it was in a different tuning wouldn't it be in a different fingering?

  • You are a good man for doing this with so much love for the blues. Love your Axe too, man.

  • yeah minor is right,

can you post the bukka perscussive roll!!

    like in aberdeen blues!!

  • post more lessons

  • great lesson man ,ive been wanting to know how to play his stuff 4 a while now

  • i like it awesome!! but bukka was all about the minor baby!!! :)

  • Bukka is not played in open E. Bukka used Em EBEGBE for most songs. Also open G and D. Best wishes, Cary

  • Got a Question I might as well throw at you. I noticed you wear the slide-piece on your 2nd finger !

I've never really learned to use such one, but I have one I'd like to try on, and just wonder what finger to put it on ? Sorry if this comes out like I'm making a joke or something, but I'm not !

Could we please have some more from you ?

  • Well, I taught myself, so no one ever told me what finger to use. When I bought one, it turned out to be pretty big, so it turned out that it fit easiest on my middle finger. I can play allright with it on my ring and pinky as well, but it just feels most comfortable on my middle. So I'd say, start practicing with it on those 3 and after a while you'll probaly find what works best for you. There's different advantages for each finger, just need to develop your style.

    Cheers

  • Very Cool man.....But try making it minor. That's the way booker played it. He got that tuning from Patton and Skip James. Thanks for keeping the blues alive,

  • no worries, keep the blues alive

  • thanks so much man.
