I thought I knew beer untill I moved to Germany for 6 years, now. My favorites here include (ALL brewed under the German Brewery laws): -Heidelberg 1603 -Stuttgarter Hofbräu -Paulaner -Bitburber -Ratskrone -Öttinger -Schwabenbräu -Sanwald -Rothaus (Black forest beer) -Erdinger -Tübinger (made right where I live, yay!) The list goes on...

The Germans have reinheidsgebod, it's the oldest food law in the world. And you can taste that in their beers, if you have an original beer that was brewed in Germany. It gives less headache when you had a bit too much. But I know from experience that even German beer can make you feel bad when you had a bit too much :-) Sweet memories...hahaha

Do you wash your glasses in the dishwasher?

Cause when you do you don't get any foam on top of your bear.

Try to use a more narrow glass too. That helps when poring to get more foam on top.

It normaly should be about one inch high.

@rikkiesix I agree with you about washing the beer glass in the dishwasher, that is bad for a beer glass. It brings a thin layer on the glass that ruins the head or the foam. Just very hot water without any soap is the best way to clean a beer glass and it makes a big difference. By watching the size of the bubbles from the foam or head you can see if the beer has the right temperature, if it's too warm or too cold the beer tastes different and it can even make you feel sick.

I've been to München during Oktoberfest and the Paulaner stands are always great! The Paulaner stands I've seen at Oktoberfest serves a light color beer... it doesn't look like the shade you show, but it's still really good stuff. Another tasty beer I liked from the show in Germany was Löwenbräu. Take care Pete.

I also agree that the Sam Adams sucks this year. I did try a Terrapin Harvest Pumpkin and think it's the best fall seasonal i've tried.
