It has been years....Odd how I was thinking of Greg's music and you today. Then I found this post regarding my step father. perhaps we can chat on a less public forum. Friend my facebook page Hayden Felipez and I will hope to talk with you soon.
FYI....I don't who the "West Coast Sound" think tank is but they didn't write "Gotta Have More Love" ...I did solely in 1979 and while living in Elgin Illinois on a Yamaha C7 Grand Piano in Dr. Peter Haydens home where I lived at the time. You are correct..it was cut by Climax Blues Band and was my first cut as a songwriter. Producer John Ryan should be credited for finding the song. It led to my brother Greg's record deal and subsequently to mine. Randy Guidry
@earlyraylove I stand corrected and humbly apologize. I made a hasty reference to the CBS/Epic "West Coast" sound (made famous by Toto) prevalent with the Columbia-affiliated studio work around that time. Greg is still an inspiration, and I will make sure history is accurate.
This is such a great album. I was watching American Bandstand in 82 and Greg Guidry and Huey Lewis were both on and when i heard their songs i went out straight away and bought both albums. to this day they still two of my favorites

@earlyraylove (continued) I am ("Your Uncle Dodge") currently ranked in the Top 4 on Yahoo! Answers; many of the questions I answer are based on artists like your brother that only got a few hours in the biggest spotlights, but that I felt deserved more. Thank you for a forthright response, Randy. RIP Greg
@ldolphin34 Thank you for your gracious reply. I am amused by misstatements, inaccurate information, exaggerated claims by would-be friends who somehow REALLY knew him and had the inside track to Greg's life and personality...most not true. Greg was truly an enigma wrapped in a conundrum! (continued next post)
@ldolphin34 He was first a songwriter forever seeking the pop hit...he never sought the limelight which is why his moment in the spotlight was so brief. After Bandstand, he turned down many offers for national TV and solicitations from high profile booking agencies. I will set the record straight when need be. Thanks again. RG

Actually, the CBS "West Coast Sound" think tank wrote it. Climax Blues Band got it from them too.
