Lutherans, would Martin Luther like you badmouthing the Catholic Church? He only criticized tyrannous practices backed by political power, and that reality does not exist today. @schmidtm1010 Who wasn't an anti-semite back then?? Why don't you actually read "On the jews and their lies", the whole thing is a letter AGAINST racism which is one of the main charges which he levels against the talmudic jews.
@biggirl1352 First of all, Luther never "invented" any religion, he simply preached the Biblical faith as found in Scripture. Also, Luther rejected the term "Lutheran". Luther himself would much prefer if you just called yourself a Christian.
@WorshipInTruth sorry if if i worded it wrong. :( i think u no wat i mean though.i mean he inspire it. is that better? and i usually just call myself a Christian.
@schmidtm1010 A modern Lutheran church body's response to Luther's writings: A. While The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod holds Martin Luther in high esteem for his bold proclamation and clear articulation of the teachings of Scripture, it deeply regrets and deplores statements made by Luther which express a negative and hostile attitude toward the Jewish people. @cali115 Honestly, I got my copy at Target, just a few months ago. Amazon also sells it. I've probably watched it 20 times since I bought it. It's really a good movie and historically correct. However, in reality, it's only a glimpse of Luther. He was so much more. Not too long ago, the Pope said that Catholics should reconsider the excommunication of Luther. Truth always prevails. Luther's truth" "Here I stand. I can do no other".
Martyrdom, which befell a number of Luther's predecessors, notably Huss in Czechoslovakia, would have been a price worth paying. However I truly believe God spared him for a reason. His personal sacrifice leaves all reformed Christians in his eternal debt. Those who still adhere to the 'foul doctrine' of Rome should be equally grateful, if they only ever realised it.
I can't say that this Man is incredible, because of HIM many churches claims that they are original but they don't have bases. We Catholics admits that our priests committed sins because they are humans like us. Our Priests, Nuns, Bishops, Cardinals and POPE, they need our prayers to keep them AWAY from TEMPTATION to make them STRONG to CATHOLIC CHURCH because Devils and Demons are working double time to crush true CHURCH of our Lord Jesus Christ who established through Saint Peter.
Three hundred years of warnings led to the circumstances of the Reformation. Today, it'd probably be three years. However, the 1530 Luther had become quite fat, which they don't show in this film. He even joked about it. It reminded me of the same fate of the monk Gregor Mendel, whose doctor advised him to smoke cigars to curb his appetite!
Utterly educational and enjoyable... the world owes Luther a great debt, after the risen Christ, this was mankind's most pivotal moment. Luther single handily placed a wedge between humanity and an iniquitous spiritual dead-end. The world once again was set free. To hear his speech when facing persecution alone is worth watching this film. The devil loses some hands, not many, but he just shrugs off his losses and continues on setting his traps for others who fall right into the same old ones.
I watched this for my Euro class, it was a great movie! I find it ironic that all he wanted was the Catholic Church to change itself, that is to rid itself of worldly ambitions. And he never wanted a seperate Lutheran sect to exist. Also, he never wanted or anticipated the religious conflicts that would plague Europe for the next century and a half.
To Protestants: I hope you realize, unless you find the true faith (Roman Catholicism) you are going to be damned to eternal hell fire. And no, just beliving in God is not going to get you into Heaven. Faith alone is not the only judgment of the Lord. Faith in God, the Roman Catholic Church, good deeds in this lifetime and confession of sins are the only to salvation. I urge you to stop following the heretical teachings of Satan aka Martin Luther. I will pray to mother Mary for you Protestants.
Mary cannot hear you and nowhere in Scripture or the Early Church is she prayed to. Furthermore, you said "Faith in God, the Roman Catholic church, good deeds in this lifetime and confession of sins are the only way to salvation." Only the first one is right. Here's what the Bible says: "For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not of works so that no one may boast." (Eph 2:8-9). You pervert the Gospel; how dare you?
@Notimeleftforyou2 I know you posted a year ago but, I think you just posted on the wrong video. Roman Catholicism is a lie and the roman catholics are thieves. I believe in the Bible. Not in a twisted False version set up by random men who call themselves 'holy'. The Pope is a lie. Cardinals are false. Mary is not holy and neither are the apostles. The Roman Catholics will be in my prayers, toward God.
Pro-Luther movie. I wonder if the movie included his fascination with human fecal matter? Or him advocating burning books from Jewish authors? Or the fact the Roman Catholic Church "arrested" Galileo to protect him from Luther and his mongloid German countrymen from murder since Galileos heliocentric theory contradicted Luthers geocentric theory?.....Anyone?
@FFFFbody You are totally right. But while I'm aware that Martin Luther is no saint, not at all, and I actually have a quite anti-religious attitude in general - I somehow still love this movie. It's not showing acurate history, but it's a really beautiful movie that still has a great message.
But I have to agree that the real-life Luther was quite an asshole. :/
@FFFFbody IMO it's stupid to believe in those things. To me, the bible like any other religious writing) is nothing more than an book some random dude wrote ages ago. God just doesn't make sense.
And I think religion teaches people just this sort of arrogant attitude. "I'm human, I stand above all those filthy animals. I'm allowed to kill them and use them as my tools". I just think religions's nonsense.
But while I don't like religion, that doesn't mean I dislike religious people. :)
@SammyFujitsu I was just wondering. Because some people get mad at God or are hostile towards religion (which is about God) when they lose someone close. That's all.
@SammyFujitsu If it makes any difference the Bible was written by about 40 different authors over 1500 years, and not just a random dude... just sayin
@thebenman2 Still, who are those people to "know" there is a god and how he created the world and everything?
I mean, I have no problem with people who like the bible because it's giving them strengh in their lives or anything, but I don't like people acting as if that book was telling the ultimate truth. It's a book.
@KevinRexrod It is not about identification with a name, but restoring the truth once delivered by Jesus Christ and the Apostles. This si essentially what Wycliffe, Luther and others set out to do. I refuse to be identified with any denomination. I am a child of God, plain and simple.
@KevinRexrod The religion of Roman Catholic is the purest, yes we have done wrong in our past, and we admit it. But it's the only religion that was formed by Jesus Christ, not by man.
@KevinRexrod You (in general) try to convert people to your religion, yet you get wildly offended when others make their point about why god does not exist.
I'm a Roman Catholic and i know about the Protestant Reformation that Martin Luther did back then. I'm not saying that he's a heretic or a threat i'm just saying that he had a right mind to change Christianity.
@MrHorrorguy False religion is the second root of all evil and the love of money plays it's part in it. Truth whether you believe it or not is not religion at all. God says, "I am what I am" He just exist, simple and plain. You do not have to be religious to acknowledge my existence or the existence of God.
You poor devils you still believe your priests. Luther returned the Christian church to the purity of the Apostle's church. I was shocked one time when a Lutheran pastor said that St Patrick was a Lutheran. What he meant was that at the time of the saint the Roman Catholic had not been corrupted so much, they still retained the Apostle's doctrine. St Pat believed in the Real Presence of Holy communion until it was corrupted by St Thomas Aquians in 1200's with transubstantiation.
@dontheranger Christ is my Lord Savior and Last Priest (Hebrews 7) and my mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). Martin Luther is my brother in Christ; he finished his race strong. He hated the deeds of the Nicolaitans (Pope ruler over the laity) like Ephesus (Rev 2). He knew not to make graven images of Mary, Dead Saints, and anything in Heaven or in the sea (Exodus 20:4 or ). He knew not to forbid marriage (1 Tim 4:1-5). If everyone had a Bible at that time, they would know also.
But you don't ask why he did this. I know in the past your priests told you it was becasue he wanted to marry. But that was soon proved wrong when it took Luther 8 years find a wife. Lauther left the monestery and married becasue he was a monk in order to gain God's grace. That is wrong. One need only believe and one is saved. That is why Luther said , "Sin and sin boldly becasue Christ did it all on the cross. He was just proving a point, but you RC's don't understand it .
I must ask the RC's you call Luther a devil and wrong in his teachings. What do you think of the scenes in the lmovie where there are specail whores and whorehouses in Rome for the clergy, having to pay to climb the Santa Scalara (The holy steps), the masses that were said so quickly that noone benefited, the indulgences that were sold (selling God's free grace) to send money to build St Peters Cathedral in Rome. You talk akbout luther breaking his vows and marrying a runaway nun.
I was reading my History book and I got interested with this topic of Luther. Tried searching something about him in the internet and I landed on this. Is the movie nice coz i wanna watch it...
does anyone know where i can watch this whole film? i've looked everywhere and even blockbuster doesn't have it! pls i have to write a movie review on it
I'm a Roman Catholic and i'm not saying Martin Luther is a bad guy i'm just saying he just wanted to change his views of Christianity. Today in America there are Protestant Christians and we Catholics must not argue with Protestant Christians we must live in peace.
My german isnt very good, i have no idea what ein Luegner is, and i dont know enough about fascism to defend Luther but really.
1. Everyone in those times was anti-semetic.
2. You do realise how much capitalism exploits impoverished people and pushes them further into the ground. Unfortunately people are too corrupt for communism to work.
3. Antichrist?! Come on! I really have no idea where you pulled that one from.
Just a note (not looking for an argument). Even if people were perfect and uncorruptable, I still wouldn't support communism. And you're making very superficial statements about capitalism.
The Protestant Church of today has almost nothing to do with the goals of that reformers who were persecuted and burned. Or has been a time in worship is one that has greatly interested in Luther on Biblical prophecies? "I do not.
Good film, but not telling the whole truth about the events at that time. I recommend to read all the old Protestant books, eg "The Histori of Protestantism," JA Will and "Romanism and the Reformation, from Standunkt of prophecy." As will be some head scratching and asking "What happened to the Protestants?" At that time people have been willing to die for the truth and the descendants of those do not even know what "Protestant" heist.
If one understand the Bible correctly and the way it was taught, it is the Church, not sola scriptura that's the authority. Separated brethren need to prove it. Otherwise, your claims and refutes are meaningless. Agreed that there were the bad times in the history and that the whole crap later sparked off with Tetzel. So, if the President/ Prime Minister of a Country is bad, we remove the position/ walk away forming a communist reformation?
this movie is incredible. The story of an incredible man, portrayed in an incredible way. Not to mention Joseph Fiennes is one of the best actors of his time. Oh and to everyone else: put your petty differences aside. Your bickering is exactly why I choose to disassociate myself from the organized church, despite the fact that I am a Christian myself. The church is now nothing but a bunch of arguing, pious hypocrites. I'll serve God on my own, thank you. I never found him in your church anyway
I agree with you about the movie and about stopping bickering between believers. We need to stop arguing with each other so much and start to work together to change the world.
However it does say in the Bible do not forsake the assembly of the saints. Do not disconnect from the church because of some bad apples. Find a place where you can grow and learn from God and through other believers.
very true, it does say that. Hence why I have christian friends. I keep christian company, but my opinion of church is that it does as much bad as good for the Kingdom, and that if you choose to go, that's fine, and if you choose not to go that's fine too. Personally, I choose not to go. I have a, well, let's just say traumatic past with the church. God got me through it though, even when his Christians failed.
God does not teach for us to be lone ranger Christians. That's why His Spirit says in Hebrews 10 "Do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together." I am not saying to fellowship in a hypocritical church. I am saying be a part of a Biblical, Christian church. That is His commandment, not my suggestion.
@Archangel366 Some argue over stupid things, some merely stand for the truth and face opposition. The key is to find one that serves God and preaches the Bible.
So what's yr point? Those are pathetic claims running lose and of coz they are just normal of ppl who choose to argue and oppose. Without the authentic teachings of the True Church, everyone, anyone can make up what they want. to believe in. Understanding the Bible must come from a holistic approach not just literal. What you say sounds like Jesus came to write a book, that's all. Here's a face value given to those who oppose and however never seem to understand.. May all be one. I rest my case.
Pastor and preacher are the same thing both are other words for a clergyman. A Vicar is a student-clergman. All men going to seminary to beome a pastor/preacher have to serve a year as a vicar to see how will they will do in the public ministry
To understand Scripture, the Catholic Church has used Scripture to understand Scripture which has its roots traced back till the times of Jesus and his teachings to the Apostles. Not someone, a Theologian or scholar interpreting the Bible to the best of his knowledge. It puzzles me why Protestants don't understand this part and how much they really understand the Bible and its teachings.
Luther is a good man but he chose to go against the Church. He created his "Faith alone" and changed doctrines to suit his Theology. There were problems in the Church no doubt but there were nothing wrong with its doctrines. Instead of having to rectify the problems then, he went on to split the True Church.
you are right overoall but like too many you are also sloppy. "there were problems in the church no doubt" give me a break, in that time the church could hold its own against any entity in morality.
went against the church because of faith alone, all of this corruption bull shit was a later saying, i guess he was on a roll. let us wash our hands in the blood of bishops, the pope is the antichrist. every man is shit covered with snow (snow is juesus).
It's the weird disconnect, as I call it. To talk about love and harbor SO much hate. It starts by dividing one people or tribe off and calling them God's and other people not-God's.........
I wonder if those harping on Martin Luther have paused to consider the fact that most Christians during that time harbored ill will toward the Jews. His contempt for the Jews was wrong, but he was not perfect. No man can claim that, except Christ. Fighting about theology is the last thing God wants His children to do, so if you call yourself a good Protestant, or a good Catholic, you can show it by acting like it.
Thanks Anaksbane, and I wish you the best.....OK PEOPLE RED FLAG HERE........here is the disconnect. If
God created the world, he created the possibility for hell, and the situation for those who don't love him to go there. Anaksbane, here has made 2 HUGE ERRORS: 1) Argument from "misunderstanding". Rather than reason with me, he pretends that I somehow "misunderstand" how God creates the condition for people to go to hell.
2) Ad Hominem attack "pasted" on a tautology. He argues because we disagree, that I somehow have "pride". But his ONLY source of proof for Hell is the very "scripture" that he ASSUMES to be true.
This ability to separate "God's people" from the rest is the root cause of Inquisitions, Ethnic Cleansings we see in the Old Testament, People flying planes into buildings, Burning of "witches" in Salem, USA, justification of slavery and segregation..........this is the ugly truth and it's sad.
Anaksbane, please make truth your god, rather than your idea of god your truth..........go ahead and have the last word, I have an appointment back on earth (smile)
Like I said, you'll have to answer to God for accusing Him of creating hell and allowing people to go there because they didn't love Him. If you had children who didn't love you, you'd want them to burn in hell, is that right?
In my heart, I want people to have a nice life. It's sad to see all the fighting here in the comment section, the same religious arguments that cause division, war, and the death of innocents. The movie idealizes Luther, I could make one to idealize Catholicism. But any doctrine that assumes God would even allow people to go to hell says something so ugly about God, that I'm wondering what will happen when THOSE people stand before God.........
This is a very good movie, i love it. The word of GOD is inside my heart like fire, violently hitting me , waiting to come out and act. When God revealed Himself to me i felt that FIRE on my mouth and inside me. I bet thats how Martin Luther felt , that he had a mission , a purpose in this world. And it was to speak the truth , not some traditional practices and dead sacrifices that the Catholic church professes. I was impress how LUTHER had the courage to face th POPE.
If you LOVE the truth more than your cherished impressions of Luther, please read "On the Jews and their Lies". I warn you as a human being, this will be painful for many, but have faith that it is more important to have an uncomfortable truth, than a feel-good lie.
They should be shown no mercy or kindness,[4] afforded no legal protection,[5] and these "poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time.[6] He also seems to advocate their murder, writing "[w]e are at fault in not slaying them."[7]
I´m an evangelic christ from Wuppertal/Germany. In the third Reich my town was the place were the evangelic church stand up against the Nazis and wrote the "Barmer Erklärung" which still is part of the ordination of the ev. priests. This is the kind of church that was started from Luther. The ones who dare to speak their mind and kneel before God alone. Luthers opinion of the Jews is shameful, but it´s not important anymore. "Recognize them by the fruits they yield"
Good points. Certainly, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and others stood against the Nazi's, and they were Lutherans. I do think it is important to get a full view of history. These comments more often become battles than honest truth-seeking dialogue.
thats why i answered here. It´s important to know what you stand for, and if you want to be taken seriously it´s better to know the bad sides of position too.I don´t think it´s bad if anyone knows why he´s not Jewish or Muslim or what he dislikes about it. It´s a good thing either to know why youre a christ. But
Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
(It hurts me to mutilate the quotations of the bible but i have no english version available. I hope you know what i mean)
I was quoting Luther. Those are Luther's words, not MY judgements. I think we should know Luther's hatred of the Jews and his place in the history of anti-semitism.
Luther writes that the Jews are a "base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth."[1] Luther wrote that they are "full of the devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine,"[2] and the synagogue is an "incorrigible whore and an evil slut".[3] He argues that their synagogues and schools be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated.
Does it cover "On the Jews and their Lies"? The book Luther wrote in which he advocated the confiscation of Jewish property, the destruction of synagogues, and turning all Jews into field workers? Oh, it didn't?
Did it cover how he turned his back on the peasants who were fighting for democracy during the Peasants War and allowed thousands to be slaughtered?....oh, I guess not..........
Beau you are being far too harsh on him. You must understand that the jews are a very stubborn people. At that time in Europe, the popes and kings and Holy Roman Emperors were using court jews (hofjuden) to take care of their finances, collect taxes and practice usury (as the Bible forbids usury but the jewish Talmud condones it). These jewish bankers were more then happy to rob the masses of the fruit of their labor. Luther saw this and as a defender of the people, it angered him.
Good day, and I wish you the best. Confiscating the property of any or all Jews, the destruction of their synagogues and turning them into agricultural workers are all things easily found in "On the Jews and their Lies". You say my stating what he said is being "far too harsh", which shows you have a decent conscience when it comes to these atrocities. The fact that you stereotype jews and try to justify Luther's awful proscriptions shows a serious anti-semitism on your part.
Well then Beau, lets go through just a few of the doctrines of the Talmud which Luther was speaking against.
"When the Messiah comes, all will be slaves of the Jews. (Erubin 43b).
The Jew is allowed to exploit the mistake of a Non-Jew and to deceive him. (Talmud IV / 2 / 2 / 70b). Every Jew is allowed to use lies and perjury to bring a Non-Jew to ruin. (Babha Kama 113ª).
Jews always have to try to deceive Non-Jews. (Zohar I, 168ª)
Just the Jews are humans, the Non-Jews are not humans, but goy. (Kerithuth 6b page 78, Jebammoth 61ª)
The Non-Jews have been created to serve the Jews as slaves. (Midrasch Talpioth 225)
Sexual intercourse with Non-Jews is like sexual intercourse with animals. (Kethuboth 3b)
The birth-rate of the Non-Jews has to be suppressed massively. (Zohar II, 4b) As you replace lost cows and donkeys, so you shall replace dead Non-Jews. (Iore Dea 337, 1)
"You, Milords and men of authority, should not tolerate but expel them. They are our public enemies and incessantly blaspheme our Lord Jesus Christ; they call our blessed Virgin Mary a harlot and Her Son a bastard if they could kill us all, they would gladly do so; in fact many of them murder Christians, especially those professing to be surgeons and doctors." - Martin Luther
They know how to deal with medicaments in the manner of the Italians — the Borgias and Medicis — who gave people poison which brought about their death in one hour or a month As a good patriot I wanted to give you this warning for the very last time to deter you from participating in alien sins. You must know I only desire the best for you all, rulers and subjects. - Martin Luther
True words......
he was simply warning his nation of kabbalistic Roman chicanery.
Furthermore, Luther when speaking on the jews (and their lies) was mainly referring to the disgusting works in the Talmud which blasphem Christ and the Holy Faith. You really should read some of the awful stuff it says in the Talmud about Yeshua and Mary and how jews should treat "goy" and Christians. Luther had tried to preach the Gospel to several jews but he soon came to realize that as a nation they were blinded to the Gospel pursuant to Romans 11:25.
Of course this does not justify his advocating the presecution of "jews", in this he was far too harsh, especially as the Bible teaches us to have mercy on them (although they be our enemy). But you need to understand where Luther was coming from upon his writing on the jews. Keep in mind that Luther was also quick to denounce the pope, islam and all other enemies of the faith.
As for the peasants war, Luther simply condemned the violence brought on by that conflict.
Sorry pal, Luther is calling for the indiscriminate seizing of Jewish property, burning of their Synagogues and turning them into peasants and was not "mainly referring to the disgusting works in the Talmud"........he doesn't refer to the Talmud in passage after passage he goes through. Making things up like that is an insult to me, and destroys any credibility you MAY have had.
Anyway, I have an appointment back on Earth. Take care.
The talmud is one of the main reasons for his dislike of jewish people, this is a fact. Actually, Luther started out as a friend of the jewish people and he expressed sympathy for their long unbelief which he had attributed to the attitude the popes and catholic hierarchy. Jews began to flock to the new Protestant banner, Luther in turn wrote a laudatory publication on the jewish people called "Jesus Christ Was Born a Jew".
Luther's problems with the "jews" began only when he realized that some of the jews who had encouraged him to break from the papacy were merely doing it for their own benefit while attempting to Judaize his followers. Eventually he read the talmud as introduced to him by a truely converted jew. It was after this that he wrote "The Jews and Their Lies" which MOST CERTAINLY is about the blasphemy of the jewish teachings on Jesus as found within the talmud.
Do the research before you foolishly try to slander the much loved reformer as a mindless hater. The "jews" have benefitted much by the protestant reformation. Jews benefitted from the freedom of worship which was ensured in various protestant countries and territories.
"Thus they call Him [Jesus] the child of a whore and His mother, Mary, a whore, whom she had in adultery Reluctantly I must speak so coarsely in opposing the Devil We do not call our wives whores as they call Maria, the Mother of Jesus; we do not call them bastards, as they call our Lord Christ. We do not curse them, but wish them all manner of bodily and spiritual good; permit them to lodge with us" - Luther
HUGE RED FLAG FOLKS. I'm done with you personally Worshipin. NOW......PEOPLE, read this guys stuff. THIS is the kind of disconnect from seeing people as human that allows things like Kristallnacht, the Inquisition, burning unusual people as "witches", "honor" killings, Sarah Palin's witch doctor buddy having a thriving "ministry", and people flying planes into buildings. Once you begin dividing humanity into us, the true religionists, and them, the infidels, the basis for the slaughter is set.
Hmmm, seems to me like it is the talmud which is dehumanizing non-jews, not the other way around. Luther had nothing against the jews as a race (as did the nazi's for example who taught that they were sub-humans) but was opposed to their beliefs and practices. I personally see nothing wrong with that, their beliefs and practices are to be abhorred. Should the righteous in Christ not speak against evil?
"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light." - Ephesians 5:11-13
It is the Bible that teachings mercy and love towards your enemy, it is the babylonian talmud which teaches that non-jews are something less then human. Wake up.
Not so, says the Word of God. We are ordered to contend for the ONE doctrine delivered to the Saints, NOT to man's words added to it. Extrabiblical works are rejected.
Thank you Lord, for men and women like our brother Martin Luther who love You more than the rules, laws and doctrines of men and their works. We are saved by GRACE ALONE, FAITH ALONE, BY THE WORD OF GOD ALONE. Amen.
How ironic that a Roman Catholic should should preach about the "doctrines of men" to Scripture loving Lutherans. LOL! That's the pot calling the kettle black. Isn't it? If you love low intelligence... Don't read the scriptures for yourself... Listen to the pope.
St. John chapter 1 states... "the Word became flesh"... That is to say Christ Jesus is Lord and Savior of mankind... NOT the pope, NOT the virgin Mary, NOT saints and their relics, NOT unbiblical traditions, NOT your own works!
Congratulations on changing the topic/subject & carrying on with crap, you are the walking definition of a low IQ. You're saying I don't know scripture yet your miss-interpreting scripture and yet you don't know me from a bar of soap and accuse me of being a 'Sola' pope listener '? Oh and unbiblical traditions? Oh you overlook the bible and say "I believe this is more important then that" when 2 Thess 2 and James 2 are 2 examples that are to the contrary of your false interpretation
yes i perfectly know. I'm Catolic and i know perfectly what is sin and what not. I believe in God and Jesus, I Love them but i'm talking about the actor like whatever human do it. so respect my opinion if you want erase it.. do it , because in whatever thing i say ( also if you think is lust) doesn't mean that God or Jesus are the reason of my life, jesus bless my lyfe everyday.
God bless you! and thanks for posting the real Lutero life
This movie is so far from reality that it is basically a comedy.

God Bless

Martyrdom, which befell a number of Luther's predecessors, notably Huss in Czechoslovakia, would have been a price worth paying. However I truly believe God spared him for a reason. His personal sacrifice leaves all reformed Christians in his eternal debt. Those who still adhere to the 'foul doctrine' of Rome should be equally grateful, if they only ever realised it.
ulsterman1980 11 months ago
I can't say that this Man is incredible, because of HIM many churches claims that they are original but they don't have bases. We Catholics admits that our priests committed sins because they are humans like us. Our Priests, Nuns, Bishops, Cardinals and POPE, they need our prayers to keep them AWAY from TEMPTATION to make them STRONG to CATHOLIC CHURCH because Devils and Demons are working double time to crush true CHURCH of our Lord Jesus Christ who established through Saint Peter.

This is one of the reasons why people shouldn't rely on films for historical accuracy.

Pro-Luther movie. I wonder if the movie included his fascination with human fecal matter? Or him advocating burning books from Jewish authors? Or the fact the Roman Catholic Church "arrested" Galileo to protect him from Luther and his mongloid German countrymen from murder since Galileos heliocentric theory contradicted Luthers geocentric theory?.....Anyone?
FFFFbody 1 year ago
@FFFFbody You are totally right. But while I'm aware that Martin Luther is no saint, not at all, and I actually have a quite anti-religious attitude in general - I somehow still love this movie. It's not showing acurate history, but it's a really beautiful movie that still has a great message.
But I have to agree that the real-life Luther was quite an asshole. :/
SammyFujitsu 1 year ago
@SammyFujitsu I admit I have not seen the movie. Just going off the clip. How come the anti-religious attitude?
FFFFbody 1 year ago
@FFFFbody IMO it's stupid to believe in those things. To me, the bible like any other religious writing) is nothing more than an book some random dude wrote ages ago. God just doesn't make sense.
And I think religion teaches people just this sort of arrogant attitude. "I'm human, I stand above all those filthy animals. I'm allowed to kill them and use them as my tools". I just think religions's nonsense.
But while I don't like religion, that doesn't mean I dislike religious people. :)

St Pat believed in the Real Presence of Holy communion until it was corrupted by St Thomas Aquians in 1200's with transubstantiation.
dontheranger 2 years ago
@dontheranger Christ is my Lord Savior and Last Priest (Hebrews 7) and my mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). Martin Luther is my brother in Christ; he finished his race strong. He hated the deeds of the Nicolaitans (Pope ruler over the laity) like Ephesus (Rev 2). He knew not to make graven images of Mary, Dead Saints, and anything in Heaven or in the sea (Exodus 20:4 or ). He knew not to forbid marriage (1 Tim 4:1-5). If everyone had a Bible at that time, they would know also.
iceylittle 1 year ago 2
But you don't ask why he did this. I know in the past your priests told you it was becasue he wanted to marry. But that was soon proved wrong when it took Luther 8 years find a wife. Lauther left the monestery and married becasue he was a monk in order to gain God's grace. That is wrong. One need only believe and one is saved. That is why Luther said , "Sin and sin boldly becasue Christ did it all on the cross. He was just proving a point, but you RC's don't understand it .
dontheranger 2 years ago
I must ask the RC's you call Luther a devil and wrong in his teachings. What do you think of the scenes in the lmovie where there are specail whores and whorehouses in Rome for the clergy, having to pay to climb the Santa Scalara (The holy steps), the masses that were said so quickly that noone benefited, the indulgences that were sold (selling God's free grace) to send money to build St Peters Cathedral in Rome. You talk akbout luther breaking his vows and marrying a runaway nun.

Archangel366 2 years ago 31
I agree with you about the movie and about stopping bickering between believers. We need to stop arguing with each other so much and start to work together to change the world.
However it does say in the Bible do not forsake the assembly of the saints. Do not disconnect from the church because of some bad apples. Find a place where you can grow and learn from God and through other believers.
02375000360671 2 years ago 2
very true, it does say that.

That's why His Spirit says in Hebrews 10 "Do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together." So what's yr point? Those are pathetic claims running lose and of coz they are just normal of ppl who choose to argue and oppose. Without the authentic teachings of the True Church, everyone, anyone can make up what they want. to believe in. Understanding the Bible must come from a holistic approach not just literal. What you say sounds like Jesus came to write a book, that's all. Here's a face value given to those who oppose and however never seem to understand.. May all be one. I rest my case.

Instead of having to rectify the problems then, he went on to split the True Church.
qnnyw 2 years ago

It's the weird disconnect, as I call it. To talk about love and harbor SO much hate. It starts by dividing one people or tribe off and calling them God's and other people not-God's.........
BeauJames59 2 years ago

BeauJames59 2 years ago
2) Ad Hominem attack "pasted" on a tautology. He argues because we disagree, that I somehow have "pride". But his ONLY source of proof for Hell is the very "scripture" that he ASSUMES to be true.
This ability to separate "God's people" from the rest is the root cause of Inquisitions, Ethnic Cleansings we see in the Old Testament, People flying planes into buildings, Burning of "witches" in Salem, USA, justification of slavery and segregation..........this is the ugly truth and it's sad.
BeauJames59 2 years ago
Anaksbane, please make truth your god, rather than your idea of god your truth..........go ahead and have the last word, I have an appointment back on earth (smile)
BeauJames59 2 years ago

Did it cover how he turned his back on the peasants who were fighting for democracy during the Peasants War and allowed thousands to be slaughtered?....oh, I guess not..........
BeauJames59 2 years ago
Beau you are being far too harsh on him. You must understand that the jews are a very stubborn people. At that time in Europe, the popes and kings and Holy Roman Emperors were using court jews (hofjuden) to take care of their finances, collect taxes and practice usury (as the Bible forbids usury but the jewish Talmud condones it). These jewish bankers were more then happy to rob the masses of the fruit of their labor. Luther saw this and as a defender of the people, it angered him.
WorshipInTruth 2 years ago
WorshipIn,
Good day, and I wish you the best.
BeauJames59 2 years ago
Well then Beau, lets go through just a few of the doctrines of the Talmud which Luther was speaking against.
"When the Messiah comes, all will be slaves of the Jews. (Erubin 43b).
The Jew is allowed to exploit the mistake of a Non-Jew and to deceive him. (Talmud IV / 2 / 2 / 70b). Every Jew is allowed to use lies and perjury to bring a Non-Jew to ruin. (Babha Kama 113ª).
Jews always have to try to deceive Non-Jews. (Zohar I, 168ª)
continued....
WorshipInTruth 2 years ago
WorshipInTruth 2 years ago
God (Jahveh) is never angry about the Jews, just about the Non-Jews. (Talmud V/ 2 / 43b - 44ª)

Worshipin,
Sorry pal, Luther is calling for the indiscriminate seizing of Jewish property, burning of their Synagogues and turning them into peasants and was not "mainly referring to the disgusting works in the Talmud"........he doesn't refer to the Talmud in passage after passage he goes through.

WorshipInTruth 2 years ago

Amen.

You contradicted yourself? Sola Fide and Sola Scriptura are the doctrines of men, created by a man of low intelligence: Martin Luther.
Roly702 2 years ago
How ironic that a Roman Catholic should should preach about the "doctrines of men" to Scripture loving Lutherans. LOL! That's the pot calling the kettle black. Isn't it? If you love low intelligence... Don't read the scriptures for yourself... Listen to the pope.
St. John chapter 1 states... "the Word became flesh"... That is to say Christ Jesus is Lord and Savior of mankind... NOT the pope, NOT the virgin Mary, NOT saints and their relics, NOT unbiblical traditions, NOT your own works!
greenleo71 2 years ago
Congratulations on changing the topic/subject & carrying on with crap, you are the walking definition of a low IQ. You're saying I don't know scripture yet your miss-interpreting scripture and yet you don't know me from a bar of soap and accuse me of being a 'Sola' pope listener '? Oh and unbiblical traditions? Oh you overlook the bible and say "I believe this is more important then that" when 2 Thess 2 and James 2 are 2 examples that are to the contrary of your false interpretation
