Thank you for posting this! I made this for dinner tonight, and it was a hit. I doubled the shrimp and used a little less garlic, but it was very easy and VERY delicious. One of the comments I got was, "Olive Garden, eat your heart out". I'll definitely be making this again.
@Kentri6 I can't say for sure, but if you use too much thickener or don't stir it in quickly and evenly it could cause clumps. Other possibilities: too much cheese, substituting a different cheese or having the heat too low to melt it properly. Stirring too slowly is usually the culprit if it happens during a thickening stage.
Thank you so much for your simple and light shrimp pasta dish. The Asp gave it a great balance. There were so many heavy versions. I didnt think I'd ever find a low calorie one. Dished them on my beautiful china and what an evening, thanks to you.
I used ultra fresh shrimp w heads on(which I decapitated) and fresh herbs. Such a simple but so extraordinarily flavorful recipe.
I'm ready for the enchilada, habanero sauce and guacamole recipe.
@ELVIS4221 Thanks for watching. Not sure if this can be considered low calorie, but I suppose in a comparison it is much lighter than some traditional recipes. The enchiladas are a bit more work than this recipe, (takes much longer to make them than the actual length of the video) but well worth it. Best thing to do is have some barbequed steak the night before you fix the enchiladas. Cook an extra steak and use it for the meat. Happy cooking!
@TiedyemansVideos Thanks for responding so quickly to my comment. I'm trying the ench tomorrow night. Tonight I have the difficult task of Bar'q and consuming part of a tri roast. Life is tough. Your ench recipe is the most quick / clean version I've ever seen and still looks like an ench. Some versions require the tor to be dipped in ench sauce and fried in a pan before starting the filling, rolling / baking. Imagine my stove top when done. I did once touch my eye or actually someplace else and
@fulanitosf Whatever I have in the pantry. I have made this sauce with shells, spaghetti, angel hair, and fettuccine. I think I prefer angel hair myself, but sometimes it's good with a thicker noodle. I like to change things around a little to avoid being bored with food. Sometimes I add other spices like a little dill or some chili peppers.
One suggestion... to thicken the sauce, you might like to try cornstarch mixed with COLD water (this will keep it from lumping up). It thickens sauce better and faster than flour :)
@pulpstressjns I do use corn starch in other sauces as a thickener. Sauces that require more clarity, like for example the sauce in cashew chicken. However, I avoid using it when the recipe involves cheese. I think it might make it a little too gluey...not sure though because I've always used flour for any sauce with cheese. Just the way I learned to cook. I'll let you try it and tell me how it turned out. Happy cooking!
made once and about to make again...my kid and I loved it Easy to make. I am not a cook at all and this was easy to follow...thank you for helping me look good in tha kitchen!!!
I remember watching this when it only had about 20 views xD its my birthday tomorow so I really wanted shrimp alfredo and I've been trying to find a good recipe for about a week now and the second I remembered this I was SO happy! :) wish me luck! :D
@LIZ213N510 I never measure it, as it depends on how much shrimp you use, or noodles you have or people that are eating. Just pour it in until it looks right. Also depends on if you use milk, cream or half and half. Or if you like the sauce thicker or thinner...just try it a few times and work out what works best for you. Make it YOUR dish! :)
Nice recipe, it looks like you skipped the step where you smoke two bowls of the green stickiness and THEN start cooking, other than that great vid! :)
@BlackHit When we made this video my Youtube account had a 10 minute time limit. All the footage of the huge party and the dancing girls had to be omitted for time considerations.
@gianniversacemedusa Thanks for noticing! I get a kick out of the questions and comments folks make. Just can't resist having a little fun with 'em. We had this for dinner tonight. I was out of Parmesan so I had to use mozzarella and I threw in a little cheddar, I used spaghetti noodles instead of angel hair and it was still good.
I just made this myself and it turned out great =) I've always loved me some pasta, but making it makes me appreciate it more. Thanks man, I havent cooked anything besides some eggs, I think I will try out another recipe next.
@iluvhim081 No, DO NOT use sauce from a jar. Are you going to cook or just REHEAT some factory made goo?
Once you've decided to actually cook, use half & half or cream, milk or soy milk or whatever you have handy. The important thing here is you cooking it and not using ready made chemical laced junk food. Read the ingredients on your jar sauce and ask yourself if you want to eat modified food starch, high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, etc. Or do you want to eat real food?
@TiedyemansVideos Oh ok then thank you! :D I'm going to tell my mom bout it later but thanks I understand why it didn't have a well taste before... People do learn from mistakes lol(:
I tried making this once w/o the shrimp though but I think my mom put a lot of Parmesan cheese but the powder kind and man we didn't like it so we had to throw it away/: I really wanna try this asap :D
@1119Sweetcheeks They put weird non-cheese ingredients in that powdered stuff. We don't use it. Real Parmesan has a strong flavor so you have to be careful not to use too much. The delicate balance of flavors is what makes this dish.
@ELVIS4221 My bad! I wasn't supposed to let the sauce boil. I was not only cooking but making a video as well, which is difficult. The sauce cooks for only a minute or two so usually the shrimp are not overcooked. Even if they were slightly overcooked, it was still delicious. If you're worried about overcooking the shrimp you can take them out of the pan and set them aside while making the sauce. I don't worry about stuff being perfect, as long as it tastes good, I'm happy.
@TiedyemansVideos YOU DID A GREAT JOB OF MAKING THE VIDEO AS WELL AS COOKING.
I NOTICED, AFTER VIEWING THE VIDEO SEVERAL MORE TIMES, YOU DID SAY, "LOWER THE HEAT" AFTER POURING IN THE MILK. I GOT AN HERB GARDEN WITH BASIL AND OREGANO. WOULD THE FRESHNESS OF THE HERBS BE TOO POWERFUL FOR THE DELICATE SHRIMP MIXTURE?
WHEN YOU WERE SAUTING THE GARLIC, I THOUGHT IF I HAD ANOTHER PAN WITH THE FRYING GARLIC AND BUTTER AND I DIPPED SOME FRENCH SOURDOUGH BREAD IN IT, I WONDER HOW IT WOULD COME OUT.
@ELVIS4221 Fresh herbs would be fantastic. They are stronger so you won't need a lot, but I would definitely use fresh herbs if I had them. On your garlic bread idea, only way to find out is to try it. I make garlic bread with butter and finely minced fresh (or powdered) garlic and parsley. Butter the bread with the garlic butter mix and then broil it until it browns.
Thanks for the vid! You did a great job& it looked so good that it makes me want to make it! By the way, love the Tye dye shirt! Wish they were more ppl like you tye dye man! Thanks!
@cacique311 That's an interesting idea, although I'm no Jack Lalane, I have lost 25 lbs. since January, just by eating less processed foods. Here's how i did it. When shopping read the labels, if there's anything you can't pronounce or are not sure what it is, put it back on the shelf.
@TiedyemansVideos congrats then, you should talk a bit about that in your videos, ppl like to hear that... you know its good to be healthy. keep it up.
@stefnicole Yes. It will still be good with cream, it will have more calories and fat, but you probably won't be eating this every night. Also you won't need to thicken it with the flour/water mix like I did in the video. Sure you can add more Parmesan, taste the sauce and if you think it needs more, then add more. Adding fresh basil when serving would be good too. I have even made this with soy milk and it still tasted great.
@TiedyemansVideos Thanks. It was fabulous when I made it. =) And I don't know... I MAY have to switch to half & half because I MAY be eating it every night :-)
@bitchiteen Sure you can add more cheese. One of the best part's of cooking is experimenting! Parmesan cheese has a very strong flavor though, if you want to add more cheese I'd recommend adding another kind like mozzarella or jack. I added too much Parmesan once and it ruined the subtle blending of flavors.
i just made this this morning before watching your video. im going to try your recipe. but with mine u usually like to use heavy cream instead of half and half. but damn you are better than rachael ray.
@dimebaghudson I used the half and half to save a few calories and a few pennies. Heavy cream is actually the standard for this dish, but I rarely do things "normally". I never said I was better than Rachel Ray, but I do cook some delicious food. Mostly by some weird instinct I seem to have for what should go into it. That and years of trial and error and of course tasting the results.
@TiedyemansVideos haha yeah you are better than rachael, you dont put on that fake ass smile the entire video . but yeah man keep on cookin. im goin to culenary school so ima learn a few things when i do that this fall. peace out bud
@LovingBundleOfHate If I were cooking in a 5 star restaurant, I would definitely not use dried noodles, I'd have my prep chef make me fresh noodles. This is a "how to" video for home cooks that want to make a quick meal.
@LovingBundleOfHate I'm sure it does and I'd love to try making my own pasta. It does take extra time and special equipment, both of which I am currently short of. Someday though...and then I'll have to make a video!
@buckbucktheworld I need a bigger audience. Although my art has already been seen by millions of people, they probably didn't know it at the time. The Moody Blues have been illegally using 3 of my fractal art images in their stage show for the past 4 years.
WOW! A man that can cook! Now that's what I'm talkin' bout! I'm gonna make this tonight, but I'm gonna do half Mozzarella & half Parmesan!! I gotta have the Mozzarella! LOL! Great Video! Can't wait till dinner time! :-)
wow that looks so delectable! Now i think this will be the next dish i make for my boyfriends family! I havent actually heard of this one. I have had ship and pasta but not Alfredo. I would also like to ask you what kind of shrimp you would say is the best. THey have tiny shrimp that are a bit bigger than a quarter so it is like bit size? would that taste the same? Im asking only because i havetn had many different types of shrimp
@oliviaabyars You can use any size raw shrimp you like in this dish. I prefer to use larger shrimp (21-25 per pound) because it's less work to shell them. I think I had a smaller size in the video (41-50 per pound) most likely because they were on sale at the time. I've never made this with tiny shrimp, those are usually precooked. I only use those for salads.
@mak300000 What makes me laugh is comments like this. Never once have I claimed that Alfredo Sauce is Italian or that my recipe is Italian. I can say this however, if you Google "shrimp alfredo sauce" you'll get at least a half a million results. How can that many results come from a dish that isn't "typical"? Dude! This dish is not only typical but people automatically think of it as Italian. Furthermore, I don't look up recipes on wikipedia, I make them up. This is MY recipe!
@TiedyemansVideos My fault: I should have said "it's not an ITALIAN typical dish". What I can't bear is that there are so many americans who think this dish is Italian, since many ingredients are Italian (spaghetti and parmigiano)... without considering the name of the dish... " ALFREDO SAUCE" that is.... surprise...ITALIAN!!!
Therefore what you can assert is that this is an American typical dish, but not Italian.
By the way my Italian friends and me really appreciate your video :).
@mak300000 Most Americans are not too bright. Fortunately, I'm not one of them. Funny thing is most Americans think that noodles with tomato sauce is Italian. People with a knowledge of history know noodles were a Chinese food, brought back to Italy by Marco Polo. Tomatoes were originally from the Americas, not at all Italian. What I assert is that if you cook this the way I do, it will be delicious and easy to make. Also if you Google "shrimp alfredo sauce" my video is right near the top. :)
@KillyWildlands Because we don't do it that way, that's why. Who is this "we" you speak of? Are you in my kitchen? Are you in this video? I don't think so.
I like the salt container in the blender. That's my favorite part :-) A very yummy recipe there! Adding water and flour to the Alfredo to make it thicker, that I never heard of. Neat trick.
@anthonysitalianfood It's an old trick I learned from my mom for making sauces and gravies thicker. The food industry is quite familiar with it. Look at the ingredients on any commercial gravy or sauce in a jar and usually you'll find wheat flour, corn starch, modified food starch, guar gum, or similar thickeners. Sometimes multiple thickeners are added. I've seen Alfredo sauce with 4 thickeners and no cream or milk. Nasty! That's why I make my own sauces, real food, no junk!
@BbyBear1993 uhhh....well it all depends on how hungry you are, and how much stuff you use to make it. For this if you use a pound of shrimp, it will feed 4 or 5 people.
@orchestralbunny I used half squirrel milk and half rat milk. Just kidding, use whatever kind of milk you have around. I actually had half cream and half milk. (from cows) Moooooo yeah!
@TiedyemansVideos LOL. Funny. But when I was just starting to read it, I went like "ewww O_O" but then I saw the rat milk thing and I went "HAHAHAHA!" I actually tried making this last month. IT WAS AWESOME! It was my first time cooking and I figured I wanted to make pasta. This was just perfect. Though I didn't put the oregano and the basil 'cause I was lacking the ingredients. But it still tasted good. Thanks for the recipe. :)
i like this recipe i do one very simular but with egg noodles. also really like your programming i was able to watch it with out it stopping to stream. thanks for sharing.
@devilishtanvi If you want to add green pepper and want it to remain crisp, slice it thin and add it just before serving. Or, slice very thin and put the green pepper on top on the noodles while plating, followed by the sauce.
very easy to watch and listen to, thanks.

i just made this this morning before watching your video. im going to try your recipe. but with mine u usually like to use heavy cream instead of half and half. but damn you are better than rachael ray.
dimebaghudson 7 months ago
@dimebaghudson I used the half and half to save a few calories and a few pennies. Heavy cream is actually the standard for this dish, but I rarely do things "normally". I never said I was better than Rachel Ray, but I do cook some delicious food. Mostly by some weird instinct I seem to have for what should go into it. That and years of trial and error and of course tasting the results.
TiedyemansVideos 7 months ago
@TiedyemansVideos haha yeah you are better than rachael, you dont put on that fake ass smile the entire video . but yeah man keep on cookin. im goin to culenary school so ima learn a few things when i do that this fall. peace out bud

LovingBundleOfHate 8 months ago
@LovingBundleOfHate If I were cooking in a 5 star restaurant, I would definitely not use dried noodles, I'd have my prep chef make me fresh noodles. This is a "how to" video for home cooks that want to make a quick meal.

@TiedyemansVideos just saying.. makes a world of difference
LovingBundleOfHate 7 months ago
@LovingBundleOfHate I'm sure it does and I'd love to try making my own pasta. It does take extra time and special equipment, both of which I am currently short of. Someday though...and then I'll have to make a video!

@buckbucktheworld I need a bigger audience. Although my art has already been seen by millions of people, they probably didn't know it at the time. The Moody Blues have been illegally using 3 of my fractal art images in their stage show for the past 4 years.

wow that looks so delectable! Im asking only because i havetn had many different types of shrimp
oliviaabyars 11 months ago
@oliviaabyars You can use any size raw shrimp you like in this dish. I prefer to use larger shrimp (21-25 per pound) because it's less work to shell them. I think I had a smaller size in the video (41-50 per pound) most likely because they were on sale at the time. I've never made this with tiny shrimp, those are usually precooked. I only use those for salads.

What makes me laugh is that in Italy doesn't exist this damn "Alfredo sauce"!! It's not a typical dish!!
Guys, stop trusting wikipedia for any little thing!!
mak300000 11 months ago
@mak300000 What makes me laugh is comments like this. Never once have I claimed that Alfredo Sauce is Italian or that my recipe is Italian. I can say this however, if you Google "shrimp alfredo sauce" you'll get at least a half a million results. How can that many results come from a dish that isn't "typical"? Dude! This dish is not only typical but people automatically think of it as Italian. Furthermore, I don't look up recipes on wikipedia, I make them up. This is MY recipe!
TiedyemansVideos 11 months ago 4
@TiedyemansVideos My fault: I should have said "it's not an ITALIAN typical dish". What I can't bear is that there are so many americans who think this dish is Italian, since many ingredients are Italian (spaghetti and parmigiano)... without considering the name of the dish... " ALFREDO SAUCE" that is.... surprise...ITALIAN!!!
Therefore what you can assert is that this is an American typical dish, but not Italian.
By the way my Italian friends and me really appreciate your video :).
mak300000 11 months ago
@mak300000 Most Americans are not too bright. Fortunately, I'm not one of them. Funny thing is most Americans think that noodles with tomato sauce is Italian. People with a knowledge of history know noodles were a Chinese food, brought back to Italy by Marco Polo. Tomatoes were originally from the Americas, not at all Italian. What I assert is that if you cook this the way I do, it will be delicious and easy to make. Also if you Google "shrimp alfredo sauce" my video is right near the top. :)

I like the salt container in the blender. That's my favorite part :-) A very yummy recipe there! Adding water and flour to the Alfredo to make it thicker, that I never heard of. Neat trick.
anthonysitalianfood 11 months ago
@anthonysitalianfood It's an old trick I learned from my mom for making sauces and gravies thicker. The food industry is quite familiar with it. Look at the ingredients on any commercial gravy or sauce in a jar and usually you'll find wheat flour, corn starch, modified food starch, guar gum, or similar thickeners. Sometimes multiple thickeners are added. I've seen Alfredo sauce with 4 thickeners and no cream or milk. Nasty! That's why I make my own sauces, real food, no junk!

jensmenu 1 year ago
uhhh... how many servings will you get out of those recipes?
BbyBear1993 1 year ago
@BbyBear1993 uhhh....well it all depends on how hungry you are, and how much stuff you use to make it. For this if you use a pound of shrimp, it will feed 4 or 5 people.
TiedyemansVideos 11 months ago
Is that milk you used? If it is, then what kind?
orchestralbunny 1 year ago
@orchestralbunny I used half squirrel milk and half rat milk. Just kidding, use whatever kind of milk you have around. I actually had half cream and half milk. (from cows) Moooooo yeah!
TiedyemansVideos 11 months ago
@TiedyemansVideos LOL. Funny. But when I was just starting to read it, I went like "ewww O_O" but then I saw the rat milk thing and I went "HAHAHAHA!" I actually tried making this last month. IT WAS AWESOME! It was my first time cooking and I figured I wanted to make pasta. This was just perfect. Though I didn't put the oregano and the basil 'cause I was lacking the ingredients. But it still tasted good. Thanks for the recipe. :)

devilishtanvi 1 year ago
@devilishtanvi If you want to add green pepper and want it to remain crisp, slice it thin and add it just before serving. Or, slice very thin and put the green pepper on top on the noodles while plating, followed by the sauce.
