Pointe shoes are the shoes worn by ballet dancers so that they will appear very ethereal and light on stage. They allow the dancers to rise on their toes for extended periods of time as you can see Polina do in this video.

It takes 13 years of footwork at least to be able to use the shoes and not sustain a very critical injury. Pointe shoes are still painful, of course, but with proper training, anyone can endure it if they truly love the art. :)

i first saw the instrumental of this video and LOVED it. how do can you NOT fall in love with polina's dancing and the music was wonderful.
