how come in zbrush 4 r2 when i edit topology the vertices and edges are invisible ? unless i go to solo mode , its not configuration because i initialized zbrush , and it works in 4 but in 4r2 no lines or vertices are seen .
@Seiferzed I've a similar problem. Started editing topology on a model, had to take a few days off, when i came back, the topology was still there but every vertex or edge i'd make after was simply invisible. It's not the first time it happens either. It's quite maddening.
@kblargh i actually fixed it , but i don't know if its the real solution for it .. maybe i was the one who ruined it in the first place by playing with preferences options :P , you have to go to preferences -> draw and play with back or front opacity sliders , lowering them will start making those lines and vertices visible , i realize more and more every day that learning all options will solve more problems even if those options seem to be not as important as you need them to be .
@Seiferzed (just adding, all the previous topology is visually stuck where it was - editable, but you can't see it).
Just now, i somehow fixed it, and the only remotely meaningful thing i remember doing was to turn the Topology -> Edit Topology button on, off, and on again. Tried editing again just say i'd tried, and boom - it worked. I've also read something about turning the edit topo button off before saving, but i haven't tried it yet.
Hi Ryan thanks for thse great tips and the the zbrushworkops. I wondering is there a option to mask a entire object when making another object like the insert brushes?
hey i have a question. When you have separate dynamesh. Lets say you have teeth and head. You only want to sculpt the head, but even when its separate mesh. You can still sculpt over the teeth. How do you overcome this problem? the only what i know is masking, but thats a big pain. especially when you have a lot accessories in a model
No, that wasn't shortening the technical process. That was adding on way too much to it. You made something that could have been handled in 20 seconds with the standard, inflate, or clay brush to a 5 minute clustersuck of an overly elaborate boolean system. This seems like an applicable method for modeling maggots or leaches, but that cape feature was not productive in any sense. I would use this for like he said, quick conceptual work and thats it.
One thing about Dynamesh is that it divides the mesh equally all over. This means that if you have a lot of detail needs on one area and not on other areas of the mesh, efficiency is lost.
@GnaReffotsirk Efficiency is in the eye of the beholder, no? For me this is incredibly efficient for the sculpting stage where the design is still in flux. Once its no longer in flux, I absolutely agree its time to consider the redistribution of polygons.
@rkingslien Yeah, I guess it depends on the needs of the artist. But yeah, it's good given the current limits the system has. So much better than remesh. Absolutely.
Hey Ryan, thanks for the tips, I haven't exactly found out how to use the dynamesh exactly like in the video preview shown by pixologic, soooo thanks !
@rkingslien So i've been wondering, where in the stage of the sculpture should you start using Dynamesh ? As you have to work on a model with no sudbivision history, i figured out the resolution controls the amount of details you want to keep, but then if you want to start dividing again, is changing the resolution increasing the amout of polygons or you have to go back to subdiving, put more poly and go back again to dynamesh ?
you do a good job man! the explain is clean. we also wanna know about the subtraction in zbrush 4r2.i saw some video, they can very easily subtract or union any thing.....hope you can show us later...THX
Been waiting for someone to do something explaining this. Had it figured out what it was, just not how the tools worked. Nice to know before hand since I haven't gotten my email for the update yet.
