I like the part since 0:01 - 1:09, this motive returns a couple of times and is nicely bittersweet, just as the whole piece - with parts that are joyful and parts that are sad. This interpretation is very beautiful, thanks for sharing!
A musical piece only Chopin can master and put together.. What only took one person takes 2 to be replicated.. That just shows the pure genius in his work.. Nonetheless great work guys..
The bit from 5:OO onwards is used in the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice; I recognised it instantly from when Lady Catherine de Bourgh arrives at the Bennetts' house! It's amazing what you associate music with subconsciously. This is an absolutely beautiful piece--I wish I could play even half this piece! Alas, after five years of weekly lessons the most difficult piece I can play is My Heart Will Go On--and a lot of Christmas carols!
hey I would like to ask for some advice on this piece. what would be the recommended speed for this? 'cause I played this for my end year examination and I was told that I played too slow even when my friend and I were playing like mad.
britten played it 1.5 times faster than this and to me that was the matching speed. but all the other records on youtube has the same speed so who knows...
I play Secondo (always) and have played this with several different friends who play primo. We have worked toward performing it in informal group setting. Am going back to it again now after about 1 year hiatus (doing solo). Still enjoy your interpretation very much and it is beautiful!
Played in a gentle way! I like that!

I came here because of Pink Martini and now I see why they decided to base two of their songs off of it.

My teacher and I played the first few pages if this for our recital today. I've watched this video many times, in preparation. Thank you!

Actually, it's by Franz Schubert.
But I agree, that Chopin is a genius. xD
Either way, this piece of music is absolutely gorgeous!

I wish I could play it as you but am lightyears away. However I prefer Pires and Castro's interpretation, it's just so much soft and subtle

Beautifully done! I love your interpretation. I am working on this myself and I think your performance is very sensitive and the right tempo.

Currently learning this too. If either of you would care to replace my old cassette recorder, I'd be very delighted.
