Excellent. I used to live near Woodford, but I never got to see one of these beauties close up. Saw one flying out of RAF St. Mawgan for an air display in the mid 80s and the noise was an absolute joy.
Nice! But...at what cost? Is it worth TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY to fly it? Vulcan Operating Co told Lottery that airshow fees would pay all costs for sustained operations. Now, we're finding out that's not true. Sorry, guys, but TWO MILLION POUNDS ANNUALLY was never gonna come from airshow fees. A blind man couldda seen that before you started. I seem to recall the RAF retired it because, aside from being old, it was also EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE. VulcantotheHANGAR!
Brings back happy memories of standing in the kitchen watching these magnificent planes taking off and coming home.........Long may she fly thanks to the dedicated men who love her as much as i do.
My Dad was cheif technician at RAF Waddington and I remember him taking me and my brother onto base oneday to take a look in the cockpit of a Vulcan in its hanger
How lucky were you getting so close to that magnificent plane? Terrific video and still footage. I have lived near Waddington all my life ( so remember them flying over my house as a kid!) and I have never got the chance to be so near! It was great to see her back in Lincolnshires skys again.
Thank's for posting this,it really does justice to this wonderfull old aircraft, reminds me of a very happy week spent at RAF waddington as an air cadet in 1977.a truly awesome 'plane.
This is the second post of this video, due to my mistyping the aircraft registration. Thanks to those who posted the favourable comments on the last showing.- Paul.

love it. was at the other end of the runway, so the 'howl' wasn't so audible. an awesome day nonetheless.
