The 750 was just casually getting up to a cruising speed. I have this car and even with half throttle it is quik, all you hear is the whitsle of air being sucked into the massive v12 but you feel the speed. 530d is awsome but 750 is like a land jet.

That was no race! LOL! That e38 (750?) was doing no more than 180 when switched to right lane. I certainly don't call that racing... :) A 750 does about 280 on the speedometer (when limited TRUE speed is 250). I've checked. Perhaps YOU was racing but the e38 was only just cruising. And besides, the 750's got more torque than the 530d...
In Holland it is really cheap: gasoline is around 1,56 euro's now (euro 95 - eur 98 is 1,62) ... we have always been the most expensive country with gasoline... Diesel is around 1,30 now...

The 750 is big and heavy, they're actually pretty slow considering the size of the engine up to 100Kmh but its after that where the big V12 really makes the car move, it just keeps acellerating at the same rate!!!!!!

Well, a 530d was the strongest diesel back in the days. And don't forget, a 520 / 525 might be low end, and a 3 liter engine is a nice "middleclass" engine.

I have to say though, the car had a 5.2 litre V8 under the 'hood', and how slow? My 1800 Mondeo back here in the UK is quicker than it in every way, i was shocked. The plymouth struggled to do 100, the mondeo will happily do 110 all day long, and tops out at 135.. Is that backwards logic or is it just me?

Die gast lult. Een pittige diesel heeft erg veel koppel in het middenbereik. heb zelf een ABT Leon TDI 180pk/375Nm, niet zo snel als een (je) dikke BMW, maar tussen de 60-130 is het daaaag. Dat geldt zéker voor een BMW 530d.
Ik denk dat de Leon ondanks de wat mindere PK's (180 vs. 193) vooral zijn gewicht mee heeft. En dan ziet de PK per Kilo verhouding er voor de Leon waarschijnlijk heel wat gunstiger uit. En dan heb ik het met de 530d er een hele kluif aan om achter je te blijven.

There is a 760Li but not in the e38 model. The 760Li is v12 and so is the 750iL. The newer 750Li can be v8 or v12 depends on what the buyer wants.

hehe, what a racing. I think that 750i is just cruising the country.I have E39 530d 193hp and no doubt, that is quite good car in NL - where they normaly use very small cars, but 750iL is very different category and cannot compete with 3.0d. I've been living in NL for two years and do not wanna offend dutch folks, but to be honest, they are the worst & the slowest drivers I have ever seen in the world. That was no race! LOL! That e38 (750?) was doing no more than 180 when switched to right lane. I certainly don't call that racing... :) A 750 does about 280 on the speedometer (when limited TRUE speed is 250). I've checked. Perhaps YOU was racing but the e38 was only just cruising. And besides, the 750's got more torque than the 530d...

In Holland it is really cheap: gasoline is around 1,56 euro's now (euro 95 - eur 98 is 1,62) ... we have always been the most expensive country with gasoline... Diesel is around 1,30 now...

just to make a brief correction: dutch people have neither an autobahn nor unlimited speed allowance. maybe that´s why the guy filmed his boring 120 kmph tacho... in fact, holland is only three hours wide - i mean, 3 hrs for a tank. ;) usually, they are tormenting the rest of europe by riding 80 in their mobile homes all througout the continent - on the left lane *lol*

i love my 750 :D think it insane :D big fucking moster luxury car with a throttel respons quick as hell :D i raced this against my old fixed up supra mk3 and i beat him easy... but the supra had a big turbo and big lagg.. so thats why i guess :D its insane this v12 i will really miss it when i sell it :D

The 750 is big and heavy, they're actually pretty slow considering the size of the engine up to 100Kmh but its after that where the big V12 really makes the car move, it just keeps acellerating at the same rate!!!!!!

haha the 7 series wasn't even trying! Can't you see he signaled right? Diesel drivers are very frustrated, and think they have 'sporty' cars... I own a 540i and a Jaguar Super V8 (400hp) both NON-diesel and I must tell you, diesel drivers here at least think they're so cool... I don't even bother with them, but once in a while I show them what a REAL (it means GASOLINE) engine means. It's simple: diesel = you're kinda strapped for cash...

It's a bit harsh to compare a 6-cylinder engine to a V8. Maybe you should try to find an equal opponent. If I would take my Audi A8 4.2 TDI, I bet that you will have a hard time outrunning me (I'm not saying that you will not though!).

i never downed the car. you have a nice car. even nicer then mine. i have a low end lol 325e yes "e" i was lettin everbody know. that 530d isn't a high end if they want to talk high end then say somethign like 540i or m5. and it may be a strong deisal "back in the days" but "back in the days" that car wasn't high end either... but the point is... he didn't beat a 750 maybe if it was a 740... maybe...

Well, a 530d was the strongest diesel back in the days. And don't forget, a 520 / 525 might be low end, and a 3 liter engine is a nice "middleclass" engine.

This was taken in Holland. Driving is a frantic thing there, i.e. admission to having a slower car is like saying 'i have a small penis' so everyone races.
In the US we value human life, and most forums frown upon street racing. In NL street racing is normal, even encouraged. Dutch people often beat the shit out of their cars, and the tire and brake trades are flourishing!
Also, know that the low-end 5 series are considered to be rather high end in Europe. They even had a 518i once!

I thought that street racing was invented in the US? And that the streets in the US are far more dangerous then those in Northwestern Europe.
The problem with Americans is that they panick when driving over 70 Miles an Hour, and the are incapable of driving at those kinds of speeds.
Here in Europe, no problem to drive 140 Miles an Hour or more.

That seemed pretty true to me in the states, a few americans in the car with me and me knocking 90 in an old '84 V8 plymouth they thought they were going to die!
I have to say though, the car had a 5.2 litre V8 under the 'hood', and how slow? My 1800 Mondeo back here in the UK is quicker than it in every way, i was shocked. The plymouth struggled to do 100, the mondeo will happily do 110 all day long, and tops out at 135.. Is that backwards logic or is it just me?

Die gast lult. Een pittige diesel heeft erg veel koppel in het middenbereik. heb zelf een ABT Leon TDI 180pk/375Nm, niet zo snel als een (je) dikke BMW, maar tussen de 60-130 is het daaaag. Dat geldt zéker voor een BMW 530d.

Ik denk dat de Leon ondanks de wat mindere PK's (180 vs. 193) vooral zijn gewicht mee heeft. En dan ziet de PK per Kilo verhouding er voor de Leon waarschijnlijk heel wat gunstiger uit. En dan heb ik het met de 530d er een hele kluif aan om achter je te blijven.
Mja, je verlies moet je ook zo nu en dan durven toegeven. ;)
