  • Can't help but think of poor Bob Urich going so soon; right in his prime. Those that knew him said he was a great guy.

  • Man! This takes me back to the 70's my teen years, I wanna go back in time!

  • there was a few shows on here and the bastards closed the account ,drove a yellow vette in the pilot.,

  • This is one of the best intros ever. I used to like the show a lot, but I looked forward to watching the intro even more than the show. I remember walking home from school really quickly when I was in high school in 93-94 so I could watch reruns on FX. I would get so upset if I missed the intro. Most shows that were broadcasted in the 70's and 80's had really good intros. I don't know what happened starting in the 90's, but it seems like they stopped trying.

  • @oldschooldogy

Man! This takes me back to the 70's my teen years, I wanna go back in time!

  • Such memories. they showed this here in the UK on BBC1.

  • Still a classic :)))

  • Anyone remember the board game for this show? My parents had it! I think we sold it at a yard sale many moons ago.

  • where season 3 on dvd???

why there is no fan site on the show???

why there is no torrent on the series???

    why,just tell me why???

  • Can we get the end credits to see if stuntman Mike was actually in this? "None of you have ever heard of any of these shows I'm talking about, have you?" Quentin Tarantino is god.

  • I Vaguely remember that show, thanks!

  • I love old Vegas !

  • I LOVE IT!!!! Played this 4 times in a row & still can't get enough! This is straight out of the days when TV themes created the identity of a show. Network suits are all greed and no guts nowadays...which of them would have the guts to sacrifice ad time and allow an opening montage to go 90 seconds long? "Vegas" was among the very best & coolest! This is why You Tube is now the only "television" that I have any use for.

  • Ah, from the days before greed reduced intros to 5 seconds

  • RIP Robert Urich,Greg Morris and Tony Curtis

  • and while we're on the subject, where would you go in the u.s. today that would be comparable to vegas in the 70s?

  • when did vegas become "family friendly"? around the same time as times square? in the 70s it was more of an adult playground, but by sometime in the 90s that was no longer the case. can anyone pinpoint it?

  • @wallofvideo Vegas went to hell (or became family friendly) when the Mirage Hotel opened up. If my mind serves me correctly, the Mirage opened sometime in 1988 or 1989. After that, all sorts of "mega" hotels started popping up with theme parks and other ridiculous things designed to attract families.

  • @longlivethe80s thanks for that detailed answer. yes, late 80s sounds about right. where in the us could someone go these days to find an atmosphere comparable to that of 70s vegas?

  • @wallofvideo Unfortunately, I can't think of one. I think the sad reality is that times have changed. Unless you're hanging out at a place where the majority of the patrons are older, you can't find a place with a similar atmosphere.

  • Is it me or was the tv shows of the 70s so much better than today, Robert Urich was my first crush, great show with a super theme tune - R I P Robert

  • Comment removed

  • The music is similar to Love in C Minor by Cerrone.

  • The music is similar to Love in C Minor by Cerrone.

  • good show. dan...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm dan.

  • I know that there is a shot of the Vegas Vic neon cowboy in the closing sequence to this show, but was there another 70s TV series which also had it in the opening titles?

  • IIRC Bart Braverman was to Dan what Burt Viola was to David Addison in moonlighting.

  • @matelot95

Mostly. But Bart never became the star of the show.

When Moonlighting was dying, as the stars were feuding, the parts and storylines for Viola and Agnes got bigger and bigger to hide smaller parts for Cyb and Bruce.

  • I Loved this show growing up!! When in Vagas I of this show...R I P RE...lol

  • Robert Urich ruled!!! He passed away way too soon. Great show!!! Awesome theme song!!!

  • I'm not sure about this, but Vegas Second Season Volume 1 was released back in December; and Volume 2 is schedule to be released in March 2011 if the date doesn't changed, and this is the thing i don't understand why do they keep releasing shows in Volumes instead of putting the entire season on dvd?

  • RIP Robert Urich

  • 70's-80's TV rules...where's my TV network?

  • This song made me want to toss my fruit of the loom underwear across the living room.

  • this is the vegas i like to remember....not the way it is now....

  • '' MAGNUM FORCE ''

  • I wonder what Robert Urich is up to these days. I haven't heard of him in a few years.

  • @somewhatlongdong He's dead you muppet! Died in 2002

  • @somewhatlongdong He died a few years ago from cancer. He was young, 55. RIP Robert, you hunky handsome man. I knew I was gay the moment I saw you on Vega$ at the age of 13. :)

  • The poor quality of the audio actually makes it sound better than if it was digitised.

  • This beats those reality-crap shows anyday.

  • super sad but I lurved this show...what happened to Michael...I have to go look now!...

  • The past two decades is when they took down a number of casinos.

    The Dunes 1993

    The Sands 1996

    The Aladdin 1998

    The Stardust 2007

    The Frontier 2007

Two more were taken down, one one the Holiday Inn Boardwalk, cannot remember what the other one was. It was the one the had a tower.

  • @ScorpioBornIn69 The Landmark?

  • Truly a great classic. I got several episodes recorded on tape when FX aired it back in the late '90s. Vegas has changed significantly since the show came out. Back in '78 hotel casinos were stilled runned by the mobs. Then it all changed in the early 80s when the mobsters were either killed or arrested. Then later in the '80s began a new era of corporations when the Mirage opened in 1989.

  • Gloriously over-produced opening. JUST AS TV SHOULD BE!!

  • wish it would get repeated., havnt seen it for years. still remember watching it as a kid though.

  • I watched "Vegas" all the time when it was on and also in reruns. It was a fun entertaining show.

  • This should have been released on DVD long ago but, as far as I'm aware, never has been!

  • @tonyrome67 Season one came out a while back in two volumes, I'm eagerly awaiting season two. I love Dan Tanna!

  • This show was during an era when people actually looked forward to new TV shows coming out in the fall after watching re-runs all summer long.

  • @philaman1972 I agree with you 110 percent. As a kid during the 70's and 80's, it was something I looked forward to

  • Dan Tanna has the hippest pad in T.V. land (Except maybe the Green Hornet) He lives just north of Circus Circus and is the only cat who can pull off patio furniture indoors. Remember the Cinzano umbrella. I Love You Dan Tanna

  • is this the guy with the red T-Bird in his lounge ?

  • How about a remake of Vegas with Dan Tanna's daughter (a series with a strong female lead would be refreshing) investigating her father's death and driving and/or restoring the classic Thunderbird. One hook for the series would be....who is the mlother?

  • I remember my dad used to INSIST that Phyllis Davis was black and i so disagreed, we debated about this for almost an hour one night, didn't argue but he had me wondering myself if she was, i think she played on The Colbys in later years, does anyone still know if she's still alive? Pretty lady. :)

  • The house that they used for the show was a warehouse off the strip .

they used alot of t-birds for the show

  • Jeez, most of these hotels are gone gone gone...Dunes, Stardust, Desert Inn, Circus Circus......great show filmed before the Disneyization of Vegas.

  • @doobie4416 Circus Circus is still around.

  • 70s escapist TV with memorable theme songs ruled. These types of shows need to be brought back, instead of the mindless reality tv shows.

  • That was a great show !

M y brother lived in vegas when this show was on . H e met Robert Urich with his t-bird he said he was a great guy. Died to soon

  • @ALBIE58 Oh DAMN! Your brother is/was so lucky. I always liked Robert Urich who was a helluva an actor. He was one actor I always wanted to meet. You're right about his passing too soon. Seems the best always do. His best work was defenetly Spenser For Hire though. Besides I'm more of a Mustang man than a T-bird one. ;)

  • @ALBIE58 sorry to hear that. lucky brother

  • Vega$: The First Season is now available through Amazon. I wish Hulu would show it.

  • @1jtv

  • @1jtv I'd watch it, what memories of old Vegas and Freemont St!

  • @4gnrations07 , well one thing I notice when watching these older shows on hulu and other channels is the quality of acting and writing that each show offered. A few years back there was an oldies channel on cable that was cool but folks got tired of the concept and stopped watching. Maybe after 15 years of boring reality TV the older stuff will make a comeback.

We are starting to see it now of show being redone for the new upcoming season. We can send hulu a request for VEGA$, jtv

  • I am so glad I grew up to see these shows, they were wonderful times I really miss.

  • Seeing this is bringing back great memories of growing up in the AAron spelling and stephen j cannell era's of great tv. stuff now is garbage compared to those times. just the theme songs alone ruled. God bless dvd's and a good memory.

  • Where are the entertaining TV shows that were actually FUN to watch? Where are the gorgeous fabulous actors like Robert Urich & funny ones like Bart Braverman?

Where are the cool themes? Just about every TV show of the 70's & 80's had great themes & great music...Mission Impossible, Charlie's Angels, Hawaii 5-0, Hart to Hart, Vegas, Space 1999, Police Woman, S.W.A.T., Knight Rider...I could go on!

You can catch Phyllis Davis on the pilot episode of Knight Rider!

  • @ladydi5319 Yes, Phyllis Davis was a baddie in the pilot episode for Knight Rider, working for a baddie corporation called Comtron Electronics.

  • TV shows of that era had much more glamorous opening credits and music, that alone made you want to watch them.

  • Robert Urich died too young.

  • IT'S ON DVD IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW.!!!

  • I was only 5 when this aired, but I remember watching it with my dad every week.

  • where was this programme set?

  • Phyllis Davis was a hottie.

  • @generatorx She had OK face but too much muscles on stomach for a woman.

  • fantastic upload, used to love this show when i was growing up. the u.s.a imported some great tv shows to england . brilliant theme music too.

  • what a great time we had growing up to shows like this.

  • I don't think they'll ever make great shows like they did in the 70's again.

  • anybody able to find some pictures with dean martin in las vegas series

    thanks for posting it

  • This is from either the 2nd or 3rd season since it did not include TONY CURTIS in the cast as Mr. Roth, the cool owner of one of the hotels on the strip and was a kinda pal to Urich's Dan Tanna.

  • OMG!

i used to watch this with dallas

i had a huge crush on robert urich

also on that heart to heart guy whats he called jonathon heart

  • Yes, Robert Wagner (Hart to Hart)!! Another great show!!

  • I always enjoy cutting on the airconditioner, fixing a Martini and putting this tune on after a long hard day at work.

  • I remember this so well

  • bring this show back on tv land!

  • Sin City!!!

  • What happened to great shows like this? CSI, NCIS, etc. Gimmie a break!!! And when we FINALLY get a halfway decent show like "Las Vegas" with James Caan NBC (or "No Brain Content") cancels it.

  • I like ncis check out the episode broken bird

  • @warmtube ncis isn't that bad. it's really about the only show on now that i watch. i watched law and order for years, but not the last season or so, i miss jerry orbach. but you're right, most of tv now is crap.

  • @warmtube i agree, i don't care for those blood and guts tv shows, i hope no kids watch it at night, it would give them nightmares, and i'm with you on "Las Vegas", wasn't an avid watcher but it was a good show, but regardless there is just NO replacement for these classic 70's cop shows, THE BEST!!

  • Ryan Seacrest is a brainless no-talent idiot--He can never COMPARE to robert urich--Seacrest has no class-and is a fucking CLOWN--and anyway; Robert Urich was so good-looking--tell me--WHAT THE FUCK IS A RYAN SEACREST?!

  • i don't even watch network tv anymore--what is WRONG with the people who run network tv--don't they know there are audiences of many different age groups--THAT DON'T WANT TO WATCH FUCKING REALITY SHOWS--COME ON! hell, i will settle for shows like VEGAS with robert urich on late night tv--Not that diluted crap with Josh Dumal--or whatever his name is--would it help if i get a petition signed to get to ABC;NBC;or CBS; and I am not talking about cable!

  • ihad a huge crush on robert urich when i was a little past my teen girl years

  • Was there an episode where he had a lion in his car?

  • RIP Robert Urich!

  • ...and then he went on to become 'Spenser'.

  • they are both good

  • I remember in 1981 when the hollywood squares was a at the riveria hotel in las vegas for one of the weeks robert urich

    bart braverman,phyillis davis,greg morris

and heather menzies were five of the nine

    squares

  • C.S.I. of the 70's

  • R.I.P.: Robert Urich

  • On October 20,2009 Season One Volume One of Vegas will be released;unless the date of released has been changed.

  • I have it right now I waited a hell of a long time for it to be released on dvd since the first time I watched !

  • tv back in the 70`s THAT WAS REAL TV THEN!!

  • @TheMashwatcher585 Yotube is amazing...i'am going down memory lane this evening..

  • @TheMashwatcher585 Whatever it was, we loved it.

  • Robert Ulrich would chase bad guys,in cowboy boots that would turn into running shoes during the chase, great show though.

  • This is the REAL VEGAS!! Not that NBC crap!!!

  • Awesome Show. Loved Urich. RIP

  • I used to watch this with my family when I was growing up in London. The intro, though I remembered some bits but not all, now all comes back to memory, after 27 years! Sometimes you want leave this kind of memory in the wonderful past.

  • Iam glad to learn it will be out in oct 2009

  • Loved this show !

  • Is that R1 or 2 ?? ;)

  • I didn't know Robert Urich had died! Very sad as I too enjoyed this series & always remember him driving his car into his garage which was also part of his front room!

  • Yeah one of the coolest around. Robert Urich was made for that role. Brings back a flood of memories, I loved that show. I just wanna know why fx quit playin all them tv shows from back then. I loved that channel back then, and watched it all the time. Now I don't!! RIP...Robert Urich, you are missed!

  • One of the coolest, slickest, stylist shows to come out of the mid 70's. The theme, still rocks. Robert Urich was the man, and no one else could play Dan Tana as good as he did. Today, Vegas is much more bigger, and more glamorous, but is missing a new, tough, cool PI. To have a remake, you got to have an iconic actor in the making. There is no one like that right now, or is there...?

  • "Iconic actor in the making?" Where did you get that? Have you been watching any of the Emmy-Winning cop shows the past 15 years? You realize how many top-caliber actor's are in those shows? Oh, sorry...I didn't realize you were living in the 70's or in a vacuum.

  • A little piece of my childhood.

    Dan Tanna was THE man.

  • This is one DVD I will wanna have.. what a cool pad he lived in.. this does not look at all like Vegas now not even the strp or downtown

  • the dvd is coming out October 20, 2009

  • Keep in mind...it's only the first half of the first season, which means you're getting only the pilot and the first 11 episodes. Better than nothing, I suppose.

  • I know Paramount has gotten complaints in the past about splitting seasons into two volumes but they have gone back (with other series) and made a complete season edition available to consumers so I'm sure they'll do the same thing with Vegas.

  • All of the series that they've done with the two volume seasons are shows they acquired from Spelling Entertainment...I wonder if that has some bearing?

  • I'm not sure about that thought since the first season of Hotel was not split into two volumes. Jake and the Fatman (a Viacom production) was split into two volumes so it depends on the series itself. One reason could be residuals and what gets paid out to participants. Issuing two volumes can spread out those payments over time.

  • And The Invaders' sets are the full seasons as well...well, the first season had only 17 episodes, so it really wouldn't work that well now, would it? LOL!

  • Robert Urich - such a hunk of man who died way too young.

  • Ahh... Back when shows had real title sequences to gear you up for the action to come.

Nowadays, they have as short an intro as possible, or even none at all, because they're so terrified of the audience losing interest within 60 seconds and switching over.

  • So true.

  • As well as the fact they can generate more revenue with additional commercials in that 30-60 second time frame.

  • This was an awesome show! Action. Investigation. Gambling. Romance. Cool cars. Hot women. And it's litered with historical footage of Las Vegas. I wish someone would put this up on the net so that it could be shared all over the world.

    R.I.P. Robert Urich

    aka Dan Tanna

  • Wouldn't it be nice if we could get this show in reruns. It's the reason I started going to Vegas back in 1979.

  • I love his house with the drive through in it!

I miss him! We love you robert

    reb

  • I can't stop watching this video. Every night, after I've had a beer or two and I am ready to journey down nostalgia lane, this is one of my stops. God I love it. I just wish that the really clear version that just to be posted was still here.

  • oh my dayz

  • oldschooldogy ' Michael Conrad was a prime time double emmy award winner 1981,1982 who lead the role of Sgt Phil Esterhaus in Hill Street Blues he started the roll call on every episode with the tag" Lets Be Careful Out There"He was of a stocky frame, going bald and stood over 6.3" tall he was in most american tv shows from 1955 to 1983 inc Hawaii Five O, Vega$ and The Incredible Hulk he died November 22 1983 age 55 from urethal cancer

  • Thanks for the response. I miss this golden-age of television. Even though I was born in 1977 and was a young child when most of these shows were made, I'm stuck in this time period. Most of today's shows are so violent, sexual, and full of garbage, that I can't force myself to watch them. I miss the shows of the 70's and 80's.

  • you can call the intro "lost vegas" as almost none of the joints are left.

  • Robert Urich and Greg Morris both gone too young too soon along with Bill Bixby John Ritter Michael Conrad Telly Savales heroes of 70s tv all sadly missed

  • What did Michael Conrad star in? I am 32 years old and I know everyone that you named from the great shows that they starred in such as Vegas, The Incredible Hulk, Three's Company, and Kojak, but I have never heard of Michael Conrad.

  • Michael Conrad the guy from HIll Street Blues

  • Man I love this intro. I watched this show to see the dude drive his car into his house and park in the kitchen.

  • And oh yes...there were episodes were Judy Landers would appear as well..

  • The video or episode left out Tony Curtis as "Roth" and Antonio Fargas as "Huggy Bear"...I never missed that show..that was the true Vegas..todays Vegas is like disneyland in the desert.

  • Antonio Fargas played "Huggy Bear" on "Starksy and Hutch." ... A few years before "Vega$" debuted.

  • DAN TANNA RULES!!!!

  • no tis show isnt gay, youll gay!!!!

  • Its amazing how you dont forget music :)

  • Did Dan Tanna have a pet Lion and what was its name?

  • DVD!!!!! please!!!!!!!

  • please, whats is the name this musical theme, who fearturing, thanks for the information..

  • This is the theme from Vegas, written by Dominic Frontiere.

  • Yeah it is awesome, but before my time :(

  • I loved this show and theme, takes me back to 78 6 years old.

  • Vintage - Dan Tanna - Robert Urich - legend - as well as the drive in garage/living room, didn't Dan walk after his adversaries as they sprinted off in panic - and didn't he somehow always catch them? Brilliant.

  • Yes, I remember him walking after the bad guys all the time. It used to spook them out somehow and get them to break down in a panic.

  • my dad loved this show.

  • T-H-H-H-H-H-HANK YOU!!!! My God I love that intro theme! The drum beats, the strings, AWESOME!!!

  • phyllis davis has voluptuous tits

  • this use to be on itv in the late 70s/early 80s on friday nights.

  • They showed this on Wed. Nights on ABC.

  • The old Tanna home near Circus on the strip was knocked down about 10 years ago..The Strip is almost unrecognizable from this program, just 30 years ago...Great and fun show, with plenty of plot leaks..Urich was one of my tv heroes..

  • I LOVE THIS SHOW. there is a dvd box set at dvdavenue.

  • This show rocked, Robert Urich rocked, the theme song.. .rocked, and his warehouse house where he could drive his car right into his living room rocked. Watched this with my dad as a kid.

  • I remember watching this while sick with chicken pox when I was in 2nd grade.

Had a huge crush on Dan Tanna...

  • Vega$ should be released on DVD. It's better than many current tv shows.
