  • .. and yet he died so young </3

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS EPIC MAN!!!

  • What's the name of the actual song he's playing. It sort of sounds like a solo from Bach but I don't know. Please help.

  • the violin has a really short fingure bored

  • This boy is now in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. To all of those who discuss his potential talent in this movie...it doesn't matter anymore. He is now making it big. And I am proud to say I am acquainted with him.

  • @ninjacat9523 WTF ever anyone can google the kid, Christoph Koncz's name and get that info on wiki.

  • The guy on violin is Christoph Koncz. We join the elementary school together. He was in my class ;-) He plays the violin very well

  • @Snagrock2009 He should play very well, he is part of the Wiener Philarmonikern, haha.

  • Indeed there're many kids can do this below 8 nowdays. But in the past, violin techniques and teaching were not that developed. It's resonable to consider Kaspar Weiss as extremely talented.

  • I purchased the DVD of 'The Red Violin' and Joshua Bell was the soloist for most of these pieces. Yes, it would have been awesome for a small boy to play that music, but he is just going through the motions of playing. A Hollywood gimmick. (See comment below.)

  • Did you see the metronome part in this movie with Kaspar?

Holy shit it was fast. ._.

  • @deanxleong -- I think it was too fast to be appreciated.

  • @bonnies1234567 hahah xD well, true..

  • I never saw adult hands playing the violin... wtf with the one that said that - . -

  • what's the name of the symphony he's playing ?

  • you just got owned!

  • I really appreciated how all the violin-playing scenes were very-well rehearsed to look real. All the kids playing looked like they could really play, unlike other movies that assume viewers are idiots who can't tell the way a bow should move on a violin ("if only" with jennifer love hewitt comes to mind).

  • That is not normal for a child.

  • waatt i saw the movie but don't remmeber this scene! :(

  • if a little kid today could actually play that good, it would make me feel horrible lol.

  • @wadoryu2u he plays even better, is leader of the second violins in the Wiener Philharmoniker....

  • anybody got the score for this? i really want to play this beautiful piece

  • we watched this in orchestra, all I can say was: damnnn he is GOOD. (:

  • Verb65 I dont know if you know this but there is a way to cut to another camera without stopping a scene. They simple record with several cameras and cut it on the computer. 2 People do perform live. For example, in Across the Universe, the director made the actors sing almost everything live so as to get more emotion..................dumbass

  • best piece in the movie, hands down. kind of unsettling to see so much complex feelings come from a little boy. and that violin just sounded so good. powerful and dynamic but not one single harsh note from top to bottom. i don't know if the real red violin was used here but this sounds perfect to me.

  • the only difference with the dubbed music and what the kid is playing like is the bow... it's like all baroque-ish.. wouldn't it create different sounds than a modern bow and the recording/bell's playing?

  • musica para mis oidos!!!

  • haha wow he almost fooled me for a sec...and ive been playin violin for a while! (for shame... -.- ) lol

  • anyone knows what's the name of the piece "kaspar weiss" is playing?

  • @salroja I think its part of the original film score...

  • no manches, que buena escena!

  • he just came beneath his clothes XD

  • @thenewcharlescastle

this song is played by christoph in the movie he is a real violinist and pianist and hes only 24

  • "mm-mhm" (says more than a thousand words in the end...)

    :D

  • como se llama esta pieza..what is the piece ??

  • ninja child

  • I have to watch this movie !!!

  • Dude gallieman is telling the truth... you should pay attention to him/her.

  • wow, that's such a weird version of bachs violin sonata no. 1 0.o

    I like it ^^

  • yea he plays it but if you look at the direction the bow faces the violin it misses. He does play magnificant but he doesn't play the correct piece with the song playing. I expect some scratching. though he still must be good. Just look at the emotion he has. Truely no one can fake that. :D

  • @udanei No the bow doesn't miss. It's actually perfectly synced.

  • @udanei if you werent a string player you would have no idea though

  • you don't have to be experienced to see this is fake.

    but still love the music.

    thanx for posting.

  • idk. ive played the violin for just over 14 years now and i can tell you right now the kid can play the violin. whether or not he played this particular piece i cannot say

  • yeah i was talking about this peticular piece of music. not about the fact if he can play the violin or not.

  • yeah it is Joshua Bell who plays over this.

Look up his vids he's incredible especially the one for pope's concert from Red Violin. its insanee...

  • of Joshua Bell's vids, you'll know what kind of body movement i'm talking about. Granted, Joshua Bell definitely moves more than your average solo violinist, but you get the jist

  • yea it's actually Joshua Bell playing, if you're an experienced violin player, you can tell this lil kid's body movements doesn't match the sound that is coming out.. The fingers/vibrato/bowing all match the music, but in order to produce such dramatic and passionate tone, you'll need to be playing harder with bigger body movements, and you'll probably be sweating, either from playing or from the emotion and focus that is running through your entire body. If you take a sec and look up some

  • it's not fake

  • Absolute love.

  • Isnt it Joshua Bell whos playing over the piece?

  • Yes, Joshua Bell is who play ^^

  • Yes, he plays and he composed in this movie.

  • I watched this movie and my jaw hit the floor when I heard the music the kid played. It was beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!

  • i watched the film, so sad that he died before he was well known....and the violin landed in the wrong hands, but eventually rested...hopefully....nice movie and story.

  • Who of this people is Jason Flemyng??

  • He's not at this moment of the film.

He appairs some times after ;) . He's called Frederick Pope in the movie . If you're interested ;) !

  • what is a good popular store for violines?plz i must know.any body answer

  • I own a beautiful violin by Valentino DeZorzi, 1892 and I will let her go for Euro 35.000

  • @peterviool Serious?

  • @hotamali yes

  • @hotamali and the violin is still available

  • 2:06-2:20 is the bee's knees

  • the finger sync is awesome for a little kid

  • that is not actually a little kid....that is someone elses hands lol

  • actually are his hands... but he is not really playing the notes that can be heared. he is faking :/

  • @VERB65 Maybe it's NOT a sync!

    Why are you so sure?

  • @DavidDukeSupporter1 No music is play live in a movie dumbass. For optimal sound quality, plus sometimes there are 20 takes on a single scene. With different angles. If it where play live , they could never get it the same everytime thusly lose conformity making editing impossible. Ok dumbass. This was play by the great Joshua Bell. This kid is a actor playing the part of a awesome violinist. What a dumbass!!! Do you think Christipher Reeve is superman and can fly too? dumbass!!!

  • There sure is a lot of vibrato considering it's immitating Bach. :P

  • me fascina esta pelicula es de lo mejor..

  • Most reputable music stores can order the music used in this movie in it's entirety for you, if they don't have it in stock. Caprices are sold separately. I believe it's about $30.00 for all.

  • What is this from, it's amazing...is this boy actually playing this??

  • It is from the film The Red Violin. Though the boy, Christoph Koncz, was/is a trained classical violinist, he is not actually playing in this scene. If you look closely, you will see that the hands are those of an adult. They belong to Joshua Bell.

  • hey where can i get this piece??...

  • That is not what Joshua Bell said recently at a showing of this movie in his home town. Koncz was actually bowing and fingering, but Bell's performance was dubbed in.

They did use Bell's hands for Pope's performances because that actor couldn't play at all.

  • ya, that's why his hands seem like that, but they seem so small.

by any chance would you know the name of the piece?

  • @thenewcharlescastle

The hands look very distinctly to be those of the little boy. The audio is no doubt Joshua Bell but those SEEM to be, without a doubt, the child's hands.

  • @thenewcharlescastle I did look closely, and the hands appear to be those of the child. It's not hard to believe that Koncz actually played this piece and in the editing process it was overdubbed with Bell's playing.

  • @thenewcharlescastle I just saw the movie for the first time last week and cried at several key scenes. Great underrated movie!

  • @thenewcharlescastle

You are incorrect. Joshua Bell played for the adult characters, especially the Pope character, but Chrstoph Koncz played all his own music in the movie. He was a world-renowned prodigy at that time, and tours the world today. People on here trying to sound authoritative by criticizing the editing and dubbing as if it were his fault are morons.

  • @thenewcharlescastle LOL! What???? Those aren't adult hands. It is the kids' hands, and yes, it is Joshua Bell on the recording and the kid is mimicking. Adult hands! I laughed so hard when I read that.

  • @ddviolinist Actually, in a lot of scenes they actually are adult hands

  • @thenewcharlescastle Then I guess Joshua Bell has baby hands

  • @MusicGuru32

RED VIOLIN; Also it's not the boy it's the violin, in terms of the film anyway. It's the instrument itself that produces the great sound, not the person playing it, which is why in people in the film all think the boy is tallented; when really the instrament makes anyone that plays it seem good.
