Holy sweet sausage! I remember that day! I was on the 11th floor at the Murray Building and the sky was black and boiling at first. Then it turned green and it was raining and so windy, you couldn't see anything; not a foot in front of you! I rode my scooter back home to Queens that night and that's where I saw the damage! Knickerbocker Park (in Brooklyn) got destroyed! So badly it looked like King Kong came and ripped out most the the trees. $3 billion in damage!!!

i live in Texas (go Rangers) and i had a Tornado go right over my house. its not that big of a deal here. just stay inside and y'all be fine

oh my goodness....i had a day at school and it rained so hard alot of people went home but i couldnt call my parents so i had to sit in my wet clothes for the rest of the day,,,,,and this happend in the morning..thank god it wasnt as bad as this storm here, Much Love <3

yeah it was crazy! i was on the 3 train and it was moving hella slow. i was gettin pissed off! i got out on kingston and picked my 4 yr old up from school and she said "mommy, i thought it was night time cause it got really dark". i was like oh ok momma. i didnt pay her any mind. my 10 yr old came home at 6:30 as usual and didnt say anything about the storm. but when i watched the new....i was shocked! i missed the whole thing cause i was on the train & my kids are ok. god is good!

I remember having survived a straight-line wind storm (it's not exactly a hurricane) but the big thing about it was radar couldn't pick it up and it took the whole city by surprise. I was without power for 3 days during the summer years ago. Some people in Memphis referred to it as "Hurricane Elvis" even though it wasn't really a hurricane but I can definitely relate to what you went through. Wow. I think it was the week before last we had a Tonado in DT Dallas. Pretty odd to have them happen in the middle of town. Never heard of one in NY though. Must have been scary to be out there and about when it comes down. Did they have a safe area for you all to go to?
