@4MATICbenz you'll also notice that the check engine light is on. My 1994 E420 has 191,260 miles and not once has the check engine light ever come on. This guy, should drive a Toyota instead....
@apeson89 we had an E 320 -94 manual getrag sport gearbox best ever, my cousin have a -92 300CE 24v manual getrag aswell, and ive got an w123 240D -83 manual, the best way! auto is nice for cruising not everyday driving..
i am 25 yrs old dude with hi tech gadgets strap forever and wherever i go...but w124 is a beauty and soul of mercedes...current models are to ricey and don't have that german look on it... w124 is a true identity of merc...

yes the Benzs do have like a vtec though it has been around longer and is better plus mercedes invented it its called overdrive most benzs have this coupled with kickdown vtec is overated and screws the engines insides up Mercedes Benz are farr ahead of any other automotive industry !!
Does the E320 have variable valve timing that kicks in around 4500 RPM? My dad has a 95 E320 and it seems like a VTEC sort of thing is kicking in around 4500.
The M104 is not equipped with variable valve timing. Just by the sound of the clip, I recognize that it's an E320 which means it has the M104 straight six, and the torque peak is achieved is achieved at 3,750 RPm and HP peak is at 5,500 and the band isn't all that linear/flat so that's maybe what you're feeling.
Congratulations! It´s an excellent car, and that engine is extremely powerful, yes indeed. I own the S-Class W126, but it´s slower and much heavier than yours. The W124 is more dynamic than the W126, and has the perfect size for a sedan..you´ll enjoy this car for many years!
