@odak77 plese tell me whats it like and what are the benefits and how often do they pop back alive on you nad whta kind of education does it take for this job ect
Would it be in poor taste to play the world series in the luxurious Cadillac hurse or play Queens version of Another One Bites the Dust? Should Morticians have a sense of humor?
@jtognazzi The trocar is used to aspirate and inject the contents of the visceral, thoracic and abdominal regions. It's too big to fit into a vein!! You were correct on the viscerock and sawdust for autopsied cases.
when the lady in the video pulled the cloth back to reveal the dummy, i thought that was a real deceased body, and i was like "OMG! LOOK AT HIS FACE! IT"S SO SCARY, WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY SHOW THAT ON TV?!?!"
I have been working in funeral services over ten years. I started in high school. I attended a 4 yr college, then went to Mortuary College and recently earned my Masters Degree. Some folks only see us driving the new shinning cars and wearing the nice suits on the day of the services. We get very little sleep and are always away from our family. The hours Morticians and full time pastors put in when someone calls and we run to the aid 24/7. You do the math, if you work on your job over time
You don't say that when a doctor stitches your 4 inch laceration with a used 5 year old suturing needle and $ 1.83 piece of ligature, and a $ 2800.00 a-day hospital bill? In 1968, it cost almost $ 100.00 to deliver a baby....guess today's cost? An embalmer learn 1/2 as much as a general practitioner, in 1/4 of the time.......so he deserves to get paid....oh yeah, did I mention, that he's on call, 24/7.........SHIZZLE!
Sealer caskets. Ain't they great? We don't allow them in our mausoleums because of the gas build-up over time and leakage of fluids. Only unsealed caskets are allowed, as the dry air is allowed to circulate, keeping the deceased as dessicated(dry)as possible. I'm not saying that "Aunt Ethel" will look good after 10-years in the crypt, but at least she won't be floating in gallons of pink and brown colored goop, stinking from 50-feet away. I'll take a crypt any day over an in-ground burrial.
When my father died in 2002. We had him cremated. Which were his wishes. We had a him placed in a inexpensive coffin for cremation. Then purchased a rather attractive urn for his ashes. I think in total... we paid under $2,000.00. I was impressed with how sensitive the funeral Director & his assists were. Made a very trying time easier for me & my family. Thank You. It's not an easy job I know.
$ 41,600.00....HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.....That is complete Bullshit!!! If an embalmer made that much, "cats" wouldn't be opening up new funeral homes every other year. Let me break this shit down fo yo ass! "Nigga" funeral homes in the south, out number "White-boy" funeral homes, but guess who runs the state boards---"Whitey"; guess who pay most of the licensure fees; "Niggas". Black funeral homes under pay their staff, because there are too many of them.

Funeral directors jobs should focus on the immediate familes needs as well as the deceased.
I feel particularly devastated when a child dies! That is the WORST part of my job!

i agree, they are well underpaid. very sad that they pull off this skill and talent to beautify bodies of loved ones yet they're paid that low.
