Very good rendition! trés fidéle au langage=impecable français, trés fidéle a Jules Massenet, trés fermée au texte , autentiquement épique-l´histoire biblique de Jean Baptiste dans une mélange de fantastique de paroles et la vibratios de l ´orchestre et la voix puissante et passionée de Costea! Brava!
Cellia Costea is hitting her stride and gives a magnificent performance of this challenging aria. Her voice is big enough, flexible enough, and dramatic enough to do justice to the difficult shifts in force and tone of Massenet's orchestration. Caballe and Moffo here have thrilling high notes but are left to fumble deep in their pockets for low notes that Costea skillfully projects, even the deep and elusive "sans toi" before the finale. Fleming owns Massenet, but Costea compares well.
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
