I love the S&W M&P better than the Glock because of the grip, ergonomics, and comfort. But unfortunately I'd have to go with a Glock 19 as a long term urban survival gun because it is easy to find spare magazines and parts for those really hasty apocalyptic situations.
1st it has to reliable, 2nd how it nature it points it my hand. Personally I choose the M&P , I point low with a glock, but I can't knock em. And I damn sure wouldn't let my wife have hers if I didn't think it was a reliable firearm. I don't believe in having a unreliable gun, all of ours have been vested.
for me there are 2 pistols to own. the first is a 1911 and the second is a BHP. i have owned glocks, shot xd's and xdm, s&w m&p pistols. all great handguns but the 1911 & the bhp that's for me.
I purchase my first handgun last year. I took about 2 months to choose the rite handgun for me. I used how it felt in my hand and the price. I tried about everything but the SPRINGFIELD XD's did it for me. It was also alot of others guns out there that won me over. But the PRICE change my mind.
My next choose on a handgun will be the M&P .45 acp FULL SIZE. I shoot my dads GLOCK20 Gen3 it was nice I have to say. But at this moment its the SPRINGFIELD xd for me.
being a primarily 1911 shooter, the M&P's ergonomics fit better in my hand. however, i do like the glock DA trigger better than the somewhat mushy stock M&P trigger sans APEX kit. the M&P is the most 1911-like polymer gun i've held, which is rare.
i like both but if i had to choose i would pick the glock simply because i can do most of the work myself and the other reason is because glock inc is in ga im about 45 min away
I've shot & owned A LOT of firearms in my day. Out of all the handguns I've been able to test-run, I really like the Glock. I know it's not for everyone, but for me it fits my had great, the trigger is excellent, lightweight, easy for me to conceal and above all - it operates in any environment I'm in. My EDC gun of choice has always been my Glock 23.
Well I will have to add another vote for the M&P. M&P's Ergos are big improvement over the Glock design. I have shot several Glocks and owned a 26 for a short period of time. Just never seemed right for me! Glock has been around since the 80's and has worked well especially on the premiss that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". That is fine but I think my eyes are ready for a complete redesign. Just saying....lol.
I have a Glock 23 and an M&P 40 fs its toss up. Neither is better than the other, they both have their own reason. I like the grip of the M&P more but I shoot the Glock more comfortably.
My buddy switched to the m&p 9 last year and he loves it. I fired about 3 mags thru it and i was very impressed. I like the trigger on the m&p better than the glock and xd 9mm. My favorite shooting pistol is the FNP-45... i dont know why i but i can shoot it better than any other pistol.
if we are going to talk about polymer weapons it would have to be the Springfield XD sub compact chambered in 9mm. and with the high cap 16 round mag its real comfortable.
but really its the 1911. if you cant spend a lot of money and cant reload .45 acp, they have them in 9mm. if you want it o be cheap all the way around, you can get one chambered in .22 lr .
I chose the M&P9 based on the trigger, it was cleanest and most consistent to me. Sure, the take-up was grainy, but the break was clean.
Sadly, that degraded the more I shot it. I have a mag safety model and it has an extra lever next to the trigger bar, meaning only a small sliver of the trigger bar actually engages the sear, unlike the non-mag release version which contacts the sear fully. It developed divots/ripples that give horrendous feedback through the trigger right before it breaks.
@theheineken I only got the mag safety version because that was what was in stock and I didn't want to wait. I got a new trigger bar assembly from S&W, just need to get a slightly longer spring so I can eliminate the mag safety once and for all, hopefully restoring my clean trigger break.
knowing that the glock will go bang each and every time i squeeze the trigger just makes me feel more at ease to where if that critical moment arises i can feel confident in my side arm. It doesn't hurt that i can shoot the lights out with a glock... lol .
Shoot them both, thats why you got two hands lmao. Kidding... I gotta say its a serious toss up with these two guns for me. Both have their pro's and cons. I think the only way the M&P beats out the glock, all around. is the price. You get a reliable m&p with great ergo's thats accurate and with a little modification you can get rid of all the bad the m&p's have. M&P for me bro! Nice video
Don't own a voicing but have shot many and shot them very well. Actually love the trigger. Hate the trigger on the m&p. And I am buying an m&p 9 because through out my testing for me the slack in a dynamic shooting environment is better to have. With the glock I tend to break the shot a little to early. Plus the ergo
I have both, but .45ACP in the M&P and I've got to say that the M&P does feel better in my hands. I'm use to the glock grip angle and shoot very well with it, but I'm sure my skills will improve with the M&P over time. Can't beat both for reliability, but I've got to say that the M&P has a little more styling. I've got to go with the M&P.
I am loving the Beretta 92A1(smooth working, and huge capacity, light recoil) but the Walther p99 is also a great gun(a bit high on the recoil though) I actually don't like the S&W that much. As for the Glock, it's great that it made so many advancements in the handgun fields, but just hasn't been so innovative lately.
I have really been wanting to get a FN Five-seveN handgun though, those thing are great guns, nice and compact yet boasts huge capacity and fire rate not to mention accuracy.
Me personally, both work good for me. The M&P feels really good in the hand, the Glock just a little less, and the gen 4 feels to me not far off from the M&P at all. Also I'm one of those weird freaks where the grip angel works and feels pretty good! I'll be honest, the trigger on the M&P, yeah it sucks stock, and mine also has the "fake reset" problem. I know that there is the Apex stuff, but it just doesn't feel right to spending more money to "fix" a gun, not bashing S&W, just saying.
My friend bought an M&P 40 compact, and I handled it, pulled the trigger and compared it to a Glock 27. To me, the Glock felt better and I like the trigger better. So I bought an OD Green Glock 27 and I love it. It's fun to shoot and feels great. I do have really big hands and I had to work on my grip to not get bit, but now I have a great grip and never get slide bite. I am planning on getting an M&P at some point though, possibly a full size 9mm.
@datzitteezyThanks for the videos. What do you think of the conversation kit that takes the 40 to a 9 mm with just the change of the barrel and mags? 9mm is way cheaper to shoot is it like getting 2 guns for the price of a gun and a half? Just wanted to hear your thoughts, the 40 will also has a 357 change out. Does that make this a 3 in one gun, or is something like that just a bad idea. Your thoughts.
main difference for me is grip angle. M&P is more like brownings design. (like 1911) glock is to angled for MY "natural point of aim"
that being said, i dont own a glock or a M&P currently, but i have shot them both. the next pistol i will probably get is the G19. i know i can shoot the M&P good. so for that reason, im gonna be getting a glock so i can practice with it and wont have the handy-cap of a preferred "natural point of aim". i want to be able to run everything proficiently.
If Glock ever left the country I would get a M&P9. I have seen them hold up in class right along side of the Glocks. I do not like the M&P trigger and do not believe in buying a weapon and sending it to a gunsmith.
Owned glock pistols before any other polymer pistol, so kind of biased on this one. Did buy a S&W Sigma 40, but didn't care for the trigger. The trigger looks similar on the M&P. Does the M&P have the same flex on the trigger as the sigma? Hearing so many good things about the M&P though I'm gonna have to try one out. Thanks for sharing
i was a sig guy,(still am ) i started looking around for a polymer gun and kept going back to glock..the sig was great..p220 german made, but it was big, bulky and not ideal for anything but open carry...i looked at all the polymer wonder guns and for a variety of reason i kept leaning towards glock...then i shot an M&P...researched the flavor out of it and a couple weeks later bought 2 M&P9C and M&P9 , i now own 2 M&P9 full size and the compact .
@brotherscoobs it wasn't a tough choice for me after having shot both the glock and M&P...both are great guns...have a huge aftermarket and great track records , it came down to how it felt while shooting...i have apex tactical duty/carry trigger sets in the compact and one full size and just the ultimate striker block and hard sear in the other full size , no more grit, clean crisp break and an easy to detect reset , my 1st full size is approaching 5k rds with 0 malfunctions

Very tough call, but tonight I'd go with the M&P. I really enjoy them all though, M&P, CZ, Glock and XDM's. All the best.
