I loved the first 3, and liked 4 and 5 (4 more than 5), but this movie sucked ass! I'm all for dark humor (like the masterpiece tour de force of Nightmare on Elm Street 3-5, and parts of 6), but the humor in this movie fails just about every fucking time, and whenever it does succeed, the movie does something else stupid to kill the joke.

People get mad at the fact that part 2,3,4 are within a few days but what people don't understand is that if they had skipped like 5 years in between both Jason would of gotten to old to do what did does Here let's do the math

Jason drowned in 1957 when he was 11

He witnessed his mom get killed in 1980 which would make him 33

Skip ten years after that for part 2 Jason was 38 and if they kept that cycle

He would be 53 by the 4th movie

He's an embodiment of the vengeful spirit of the drowned boy, Jason--who remained in the bottom of the lake and never grew up (hence, part 8 where the two are clearly separate).

Jason was born a mentally retarded child...and his mother never played close attention too him like a child in his condition needed. She blamed the camp counslers for his death in which he did drown but his mother put a curse on jason in which he will never die.and from 2 to 4 he was still in a way human.but in 6 he is brought back by tommy and from then on is a walking corpse and undead.Tommy did offically kill him in the fourth movie..which would of ended it perfectly...but i love 1-7....

He was just a bad swimmer, and it wasn't the mother's fault he drowned, as she was working at the camp as cook. What makes part 1 so powerful is the fact that the mother's a sympathetic character, as well as Jason.

@veight84 part 8 was a b-movie, yes--but the only one in the series to be in the spirit of the first two movies--a folkloric wraith of a drowned boy in search of revenge. part 3 and 4 already departed from that but were still decent. part 6 just shit all over everything (and made NO fucking sense after part 5). I mean, come on--it rips off Frankenstein and turns Jason into this mindless killing thing. intro's one of the biggest cliches i've ever seen.

I personally feel that the friday the 13th movies were @ their best from the first to the fifth. once the 6th one came out as well as the others they seemed to just make Jason some type of zombie that cant really be killed. In the 8th one ur right, the killing senses were on point, but besides that it just feel into making jason more of some type of cartoon charater and it was kind of campy also.

Part 3 didn't make sense and by part 4 Jason was already a zombie. that said, the side stories in both movies were great, as well as the kill scenes, though I think Cory Feldman's solution was just lame. Part 5 would have been good if Jarvis were the killer. Instead it decided to have a scooby-doo ending. I'm serious, 5 ended just like any scooby-doo episode.

Instead, "A New beginning" became "a new ending" (and a scooby-doo ending at that!), and Jarvis became the usual, cliched monster-movie hero that somehow knows everything about the monster, but isn't believed by anyone to the detriment of the monster's prey. it was so predictable it made me want to hurl.

Seeing Jason become immortal added to the series and was fun to watch. This was also the first Friday film where someone dares to try to convince people that Jason is alive throughout the entire film, in which I thought they did it in a convincing way. Plus like others said, the teenagers weren't that bad. I guess you can say this film was refreshing and brought something new to the table.

This is the pluperfect Friday the 13th teaser, it's so incredibly well put together that it's actually awe-inspiring. Tom Mcloughlin did a terrific job on Jason Lives and I honestly believe he should have been asked to come back for another installment. One of the reasons I think it's so good is because of it's precise simplicity - it does what it's supposed to do, and that is to tell you Jason is alive and you need to haul ass.

The first couple of movies, when he was human and had the bag over his head, the campers said that he use to eat small animals like rats ect ect. Ever since he turned zombie nutrition, obviously, wasn't a necessity.
