I love how we were so fluffly an loved up in those days - first met Steve on a hillside at Stonehenge around '71 or '72 - everyone jammed and Hawkwind used to play all night long - and Steve, totally un-bread-head - undersold and under-rated except by the lucky ones who've listened, dreamed, believed... Love ya man, how rich the world because you are!... <3 xx
All the Steve Hillage solo albums from 1975 to 1979 = great, unique....I wonder why he turned his back to that music and played "techno" and "trance" instead ? Around 2009 he returned with a "real" rockband, but he just recycled his 30years old pieces (what disappointed me)
@akj8 The fact that jews are draining the money from our communities through businesses like MaDonalds, and countless others has absolutly nothing to do with hippies and the seventies. You are an advocate for things you do not, or refuse to understand. We are all intitled to our opinions, and you should not call someone crazy just because their opinions differ from yours.

@hothaggis1 Fools and their money are easily parted? . Are you calling the people of our society fools? Is someone who makes a typing mistake a fool as well? Gee, what`s it like to be so perfect ?. Everyone at your school must really envy you. Now, Right from the get-go, you are closed to other peoples opinions. You are obviously so sure that you are totally right about the world, that you won`t listen to anyone else. Given that fact, he who does not listen, knows nothing
@apocalypsepirate what has this got to do with Hillage exactlY? You're obviously a derranged paranoid fool (necessary qualities for racists worldwide) I mean that Hitler, he had a theory about an international zionist conspiracy. Whatever happened to him?
@hothaggis1 It has nothing to do with Hillage, it has to do with the fact that apparently someone whose opinions differ from yours, is a fool [along with people who eat at Macdonalds, and make typing mistakes]. Like Hitler, you condemn anyone who does not think the way you do. Just because I do not praise the jewish community , doesn`t mean that I hate them or wish them gone.
@1957Aubrey You`re condemning a whole generation of people just because your sister hung with numb company. Dedico alle mie amiche e ai miei amici, fino a quando ci risentiamo, questo splendido pezzo che sicuramente a qualcuno ricorderà o evocherà bei momenti.
Oh man, totally cool Hillage clip at his best! I had the best time meeting him and charming galpal Miquette at a Utopia concert in 1977. We got up in the VIP section and they were very cordial, 2 great and LOVELY people. Steve always played out his heart for the fans and was sort of overshadowed by other hot players, unfortunately. His message was of peace, it's sad that more people here could not relate to him and his music. It would be a better world for sure!

I got a real kick out of your comment. Steve really went for the Jesus look back in those days, didn't he? And to think this was the time when Johnny Rotten and his flock were stomping about and spitting.
Well, decades later the joke is on the punks- hippie frozen in time Hillage still sounds great while punk songs just grate.
@Biggins363 Jesus alias Steve Hillage was a very underrated guitar player and is still making music today. Was tipped to be the stones guitarist after Jones but was not too good at busting up hotels with Richards.
Love him with Gong. Love him with the Orb and Sphynx. Love the S. Hillage solo work I've heard. But this seems really bland and empty. Even if he does rip it up at 5:48...
I mean, this was over 30 years ago, so I'm not faulting Steve. It's more like: why post a mediocre tune? Lack of better footage?
The same could be said about poeple who call themselves Mitch Tenderness, I mean You dont seem that tender or loving from what I see Mitch Tenderness Hmm,, where's the tenderness for what in all intents and purposes seems as peacefull and altruistic as the Hippy Movement,Hmm answer that Mitch Tenderness lets see how Tender you really are.
To each his own, live and let live, don't label me, these are the types of attitudes "hippies" claim to profess but the minute I write a response to somebody saying that hippies are inherently better than other people citing my own personal experience I get somebody aggressively calling me out because I don't fall in line with their feelings on the issue. It's all love and understanding until someone disagrees with you.
And by the way Tenderness is my last name and an Americanized version of the Irish O'Tindeness which was changed when my great great grandpa came to the US. And unless your screen name is your actual name "Limiting" is quite the appropriate moniker
lol are u kidding me chek out 2:57 intense drums break down then he shreds a fyuckin sick solo you wrong toxic u should except this cover as a good thing.
hippies, at least from my experience, are people who talk about love, peace, and unity outwardly but deep down are only worried about they're own personal gratification...regarless of how it affects others around them, the core of the hippy movement is sex and drugs.
well to be honest I only knew hippies exist because I heard bout em an my parents kind of told me bout the time they grew up but their werent hippies emselfs but anyway I like the long hair that the hippies had because I saw pictures an the band called the Beatles were considered as hippie music too an the lonely peppers album with lucy in sky with diamonds, etc. were the album on some talk show said was really based on hippies stuff.
an were you a hippie back then? How old arte you anyway, I'm 30 whcih I wasn't around when the hippies were their but anyway I discover Steve Hillage, Gong and Hawkwink because other OZRIC TENTACLES fans told me bout em an I heard of em too so thats how I knew bout em, their some of hillage, gong an hawkwind music does sound a little like ozric's.
Wasn't Hillage booed off the stage at the Cow Palace?
I wasn't there but I heard the above and felt it cruel and lame he wasn't given a chance.
In 1977 or so Hillage gave an interview for a British magazine in which he pretty much describes to a 'T' his current musical career when asked about his plans for the future. He didn't refer to it as Trance or anything but he spoke of craziness like computer generated electro-music presented in a communal setting.luv&light&lulz.
25 dislikes? Are those people on drugs? Drugs R bad. mmm kay

Lack of better footage?
sex6cult9revolution 1 year ago
I agree, this is a little twee, but Steve Hillage was a true 'New Age' pioneer.
He made some good psychedelic albums.
He was laughed at by the punks in '77 though.
I liked him AND The Sex Pistols.

LimitingFactor00 1 year ago
To each his own, live and let live, don't label me, these are the types of attitudes "hippies" claim to profess but the minute I write a response to somebody saying that hippies are inherently better than other people citing my own personal experience I get somebody aggressively calling me out because I don't fall in line with their feelings on the issue. It's all love and understanding until someone disagrees with you.
MitchTenderness 1 year ago
And by the way Tenderness is my last name and an Americanized version of the Irish O'Tindeness which was changed when my great great grandpa came to the US. And unless your screen name is your actual name "Limiting" is quite the appropriate moniker

rap sucks same with hip hop an rnb.
Steve Hillage, Hawkwind, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Ozric Tentacles, etc. are way better than lame hip hop

hippies rule an are way better than dorky pretty boys, jokes or preps, etc.
MrPsa19 2 years ago
hippies, at least from my experience, are people who talk about love, peace, and unity outwardly but deep down are only worried about they're own personal gratification...regarless of how it affects others around them, the core of the hippy movement is sex and drugs.
MitchTenderness 1 year ago
well to be honest I only knew hippies exist because I heard bout em an my parents kind of told me bout the time they grew up but their werent hippies emselfs but anyway I like the long hair that the hippies had because I saw pictures an the band called the Beatles were considered as hippie music too an the lonely peppers album with lucy in sky with diamonds, etc. were the album on some talk show said was really based on hippies stuff.
MrPsa19 1 year ago
an were you a hippie back then? How old arte you anyway, I'm 30 whcih I wasn't around when the hippies were their but anyway I discover Steve Hillage, Gong and Hawkwink because other OZRIC TENTACLES fans told me bout em an I heard of em too so thats how I knew bout em, their some of hillage, gong an hawkwind music does sound a little like ozric's.

Saw them at the CowPalace. They opened for ELOs dubbing scandal
tour.

telemacherT2,
Wasn't Hillage booed off the stage at the Cow Palace?
I wasn't there but I heard the above and felt it cruel and lame he wasn't given a chance.
In 1977 or so Hillage gave an interview for a British magazine in which he pretty much describes to a 'T' his current musical career when asked about his plans for the future. He didn't refer to it as Trance or anything but he spoke of craziness like computer generated electro-music presented in a communal setting.luv&light&lulz.

Don't remember. I was up in the nose- bleed seats feeling no pain. ELO fans were rather pathetic. Left early
