Amazing! He goes down in history as one of the greats! Read Harold Lamb's book Hannibal: One Man Against Rome. Great read! Explains so much, goes very deep, just like all of Lamb's books.
Lol, ok so I'm not happy with my explanation. Basically the reason Scippio won here was because he understood Hannibal so well, he anticipated everything Hannibal was going to do. Also, he had the Numidean Cavalry which had formerly been under Hannibal's command.
Hannibal was a very good comander, personally I do think he did you to much , treachery (Trebia) and ambush (Trasimene) to be the best. He was able to win battles not wars. Crossing the Alps plus Cannae LEGENDARY STUFF
My advice on Elephants, use them as transports or as food , no battle duty only if you really really have to. I guess in games the Elephants aren't the scarred animals they are.
He beat him once, and with far superior soldiers. I'm looking at their track record overall. Scipio's record is solid but has no legendary strokes of genius like Hannibal's Cannae.
Ilipa is a good example of his military brilliance. But I agree, Hannibal is the better general, considering he was fighting Rome basically by himself, at least in Italy. Just imagine what would have happened if Hasdrubal joined up with Hannibal.
There's always the debate over who was the better general, Hannibal or Scipio. I still think Hannibal. It's seems like Scipio had better quality troops during the battle of Zama. Did both sides have ample time to prepare for the battle or were the Carthaginians taken by surprise. It seems like they weren't very prepared for it, too many militia grade troops.
Well, it's not as if it's that hard to do something like that considering Scipio had been watching Hannibal for quite some time. He'd come to understand Hannibal eventually, and most of what he learned was from Hannibal himself. Hannibal on the other hand did not watch the Romans to make specific strategies against them, he was just good. I suppose I'm being bias, but eh.. >_>
Oh nice great job mate...i watch document about hannibal and this is i heard his last battle ..great stuff mate..didnt know how he lost in this now i get to watch it

Scipio might be considered better since he managed to understand hanibal's tactics and come up with a counter tactic to them
