Britain designed and built the VTOL Harrier decades ago. I am way past 50 and I was building models of it as a kid! It has seen years of service in countless combat roles so the tech is pretty well and understood here in the East.

F35 is crap for the price, the only good thing about it is VTOL. U.S. military should have supported the F22 as the last Turbojet era fighter. But even then these planes are getting too bulky, too heavy, and without vectored thrust like the F22, they are hard to fly.

The military needs to invest in Turboprop strike fighters, that are lightweight and super maneuverable. Stealth Technology will become a priority over engine power in the future.

part of stealth technology is for aircraft such as the raptor to deliver a payload and be in and out of enemy territory leaving the smallest radar signature for the shortest period of time. the radar signature of the f22 is classified. to do this the raptor is capable of maintaining a super-cruise of something over mach 1 for about 30 minutes, as opposed to its predecessor's 10-15 minutes. i saw a documentary on the history chanel, it MUST be true haha

so yeah, a turbo-prop fighter is the dumbest shit in the world, i work on military-c130 variants and i see these aircraft take off all day long outside my hangar, and when you hear these f-15s screaming by, you dont hardly see them. and if you do by asny chance happen to glace up and one is coming your way, its past you and gone before you can even hear it. and that is a dated f-15, generations behind the f-35 and f-22

I wouldn't count on that. The JSF has a many more moving parts than any other contemporary combat jets. Tolerances between those parts are very critical in this aircraft so that frame better be ultra stiff. Also the latest figures on the per unit "fly away" costs now exceed $300 million dollars. This project too is in danger of being canceled due to cost over runs, and doubts about whether it can fulfill it's target parameters.

The flight control software is written in ADA, which, if you were anything but a 12 year old fanboy, you would understand why this is a bad thing, and the first time the F-22 crossed the international dateline the entire flight almost crashed because of a bug in the navigation software. Lockheed is a terrible company that produces nothing but garbage these days. Case in point: F-35.

Yes this was a competition between lockhead martin and Boeing. Lockhead won. The Front, impeller has a transmission drive off of the front turbine. Pretty amazing. Its all run by computers. The compartments are driven off of linear actuators.
