@93JOV I don't think there was an aria similar to the complete final part of the song. There are some notes there that remind me somewhat of the Queen of the Night aria in the Magic Flute, but only a few notes. There may be others mixed in.
WOW! I love it when classical and drum and bass get combined. It almost always = epicness.
also if you like this then I suggest Paul Oakenfold's Zoo York, Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Rob D's Clubbed to Death. All are epic. You won't be disappointed!
Now that I understood the words she was singing, I imagined Plavalaguna had been captured and separated from her true love long, long ago, and her way of reaching out to Edgardo and coping with the sorrow of separation was to sing songs of him. Hoping that one day they would be reunited. Yet this day was greater than that of the love they once shared. Farewells at the fountain, for she knows love belongs to everyone.
@OdinsLoaf The words have nothing to do with Plavalaguna. The first part comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti. In the opera, Lucia is in love with Edgardo. Their letters are intercepted, another letter is substituted and she convinced that Edgardo betrayed her. She agrees to marry another guy to save her brother. After she marries, Edgardo appears, but it's too late. She loses her mind, kills her husband and appears to guests searching for Edgardo. Here /watch?v=Q3kzqzXHp2A
@jewelmarkess I think you missed the part where I said imagined :3 but thanks, now I can be a know it all too! Woooo, I shall crush all with my boundless knowledge of STUFF!
@OdinsLoaf Yes, I missed the part. But I wasn't trying to be a know-it-all or impress anybody. I like opera and feel sad that most people today don't get any exposure to it. I just thought someone who likes this music might be interested that there is more to it then what is here. There is a lot more beautiful music in Lucia di Lammermoor than just this part, so shoot me for trying to share it.
@jewelmarkess Well then excuse me for wrongly calling you out for being a well-it-is-actually :P but to my ears, music always comes from the place where it resonates loudest. So when I hear tunes that may mean something, the notes chime in a thought of my own. I am always so bad at following the greats of the past no matter how much I am influenced by their work. I watched it and thank you for sharing, but imagine for a moment what I had pictured?
@OdinsLoaf I see. The story you imagined is very romantic indeed and beautiful in its own way. I just thought you might be interested in the other one as well in the original story as the music just because there is so much more beautiful music there. I dare you to listen to the sextet from this same opera here and tell me if you don't think it's beautiful music: /watch?v=NXXznEindPg (no titles, so you are free to imagine stuff)
Nice to see people appreciating opera. Never liked it myself, though I can appreciate the skill it takes to make the human voice do these things. Maybe it's just that I can't understand italian and what the HELL is going on at any point.
the high notes are actually hers, when the experts heard it they thought it was a bird:) it is said that when Inva Mula performs at the Palais Garnier all the homeless people and beggars fall asleep in the palace steps ,When some where asked theey said that her voice makes them forget of all their problems gives them peace :) true story
This has always been my favorite scene in this movie. I nearly cry when I hear it. That voice is so beautiful. Something about the high note at 3:44 and from 3:57 to 4:18.... and the rest of the song. But the high notes are just amazing. GAH.
the whole movie has 2 points 1: how assholes we are and build ro destroy and harm 2: that love is the key to make peace and the only reason to live for
@darkgod18 Hahaha, i can imagine that, if you've seen lmfao and that party rock antehm, (i listen to alot of music) but there's a scene there that looks like dancing Jesus, so i can imagine him shuffling and bobbing his head while healing. Lol. first he goes slwoly with the opera, and then as it gets pumpy, he starts dancing, doin his thing, people follow and dance and jump shit and crap, hahaha, the scene would be like a dance club, lol.
@Michaeldtimmins Interesting, considering that in opera - the first part of this comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti - it's not just about love, but madness and murder.
@darkgod18 Interesting choice for healing people: an aria sung by a mad girl who's just killed her husband... In opera from where the first (and IMHO the most beautiful) part comes from, the heroine usually comes out in a blood-stained dress holding a knife.
@HotaruZoku It's very easy to know other "songs" like this - just listen to more opera. The first part of this comes from an opera that has many beautiful melodies not just this one. This one continues for 20 minutes in opera, but there are other scenes as well. There are many other beautiful operas too.

@bellaITALIA312 I am so glad to hear that! I help build sets for the U.S.C. Opera and each year, it seems there are more and more empty seats. Which is awful because these students study very hard to be that wonderful.
@militaryqueen1 Different people are playing the role and singing. Inva Mula Chaco who is an opera singer sings it, while an actress is playing the role.

Me: It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, digitalized or not. All I know is not many things can make a chill go up my spine in a good way, and I'm thankful this is one of them :)
@belvaqua Interesting point, but consider this: if the composer didn't care about the words,he'd not have used the words at all, but he wanted to express certain emotions. Additionally, the part with the words isn't a stand-alone song. It comes from an opera, an extended dramatic work set to music (which has a lot more of this beautiful music). It is sung by a character in certain circumstances, the music expresses the drama. If you like the 1st part, you may like this: /watch?v=NYm7oJXVeks
I like how when people try to make a cover of this song. They dont even include the beginning. Thats the best dam part. Who cares if you can OooOo Oo.
@Dosagia The beginning is called an aria and from what I've heard it takes several years to learn, practice and perfect. That last bit is pretty rad and doesn't take so much practice so people go for it when covering the song. Or so I think haha
@Puppenspielsmeister True... When I try to sing this I only take the last part as well... but that's also because of the language. I am terrible with the language and I don't want to pronounce anything wrong. Besides, I only sing this song to test how high I can go and the second part of the song is much better to test your high singing
@Puppenspielsmeister True, but one small correction. It's not exactly "called an aria". A solo from an opera is called "aria". The first part here comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti. Hence it's an aria. Singing opera well takes both amazing talent and years of training. This aria is sung by a singer with the voice type called "coloratura soprano".

why don't you use the subtitle option instead of annotations? annotations are so annoying imo

This is what happens when Michael Jackson hijacks the opera.

This aria instantaneously calms me, and the techno at the end makes me smile. Genius across the centuries.

I like how when people try to make a cover of this song. They dont even include the beginning. Thats the best dam part. Who cares if you can OooOo Oo.
Dosagia 5 months ago 59
@Dosagia The beginning is called an aria and from what I've heard it takes several years to learn, practice and perfect. That last bit is pretty rad and doesn't take so much practice so people go for it when covering the song. Or so I think haha

@Puppenspielsmeister True... When I try to sing this I only take the last part as well... but that's also because of the language. I am terrible with the language and I don't want to pronounce anything wrong. Besides, I only sing this song to test how high I can go and the second part of the song is much better to test your high singing
LauraValerieKawaii 5 months ago
@Puppenspielsmeister True, but one small correction. It's not exactly "called an aria". A solo from an opera is called "aria". The first part here comes from opera Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti. Hence it's an aria. Singing opera well takes both amazing talent and years of training. This aria is sung by a singer with the voice type called "coloratura soprano".
