A lot of people are dead, all the people sitting on the oil in darfur mostly. The reason the khartoum government let the UN in now is because that is the case. All they r going to do no is to bide as much time as possible. These rebels will be divided and if the government has their way, will get them to kill each other over the wealth of the land. The international community reacted too slowly, it will take years for relative stability, by then most people will not care anymore.
