I think art is about unraveling fear and insecurity, or should be. Not everyone succeeds at that, unfortunately. Meryl seems to have remarkably few demons, since she gets them out in her art.
IconWatcher-I was referring to her confidence unraveling due to her dialect coach. It's nice to know that the greatest actress of the past century is not immune to her own fears. In actuality, performance of any kind confirms fear and insecurity because you can't AT ALL be self-concious in the process. That is why she said it is all so precarious. It is the fear and insecurity that we all have that can make it fall apart. But what the hell do I know...I'm just a musician.
Maybe the coach was the cause of the insecurity; rather than trusting her instincts she's forced to second guess herself, which is a particular kind of Hell. Like having a critic right on set.
dancing at lughnasa was sad, i loved it and thougt meryl was amazing in it, but the ending was so sad! i thought things would get...happy at the end but it didnt
Apparently menopause can do that to you, my mom complains about it all the time, lol. How she used to have this insanely good memory and now she forgets things left and right. Nice thing to look forward to.
