Did you know that the factory that makes the Nickle batteries for the Toyota Prius is surrounded by a four-mile dead-zone that NASA uses to test lunar rovers? The problem is the Prius is made in a factory with parts sourced from component suppliers around the world, and then shipped to the customers home country. A 35 mph Civic is probably always going to be cheaper to drive than a Prius when you consider the up front cost and the resale value. I think the $7,000 battery replacement cost of the Prius hurts its resale value, since used car buyers don't want to get stuck with it.
Its a personal decision as to which vehicle you buy. I don't have anything against Hummers although I do think some people by the huge Hummers because they are lacking somewhere else in their lives.

You do have a point concerning nickel and its mining, transportation, etc. There are many concerns there. However, we are all on a steep learning curve when it comes to finding ways to conserve oil. The Prius is a great first step. Blame should not be placed on them but instead the Canadian government for not enforcing their environmental regulations on mininig nickel.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm a little biased. I mean, I learned everything I know about the Prius from Top Gear. You know, that British show where everybody on it are car experts. Don't believe me? Just search Top Gear Prius on YouTube or Google Videos. I figured taking the opinion of a professional neutral-party show is probably the most truthful opinion you can get.

Who cares if its top speed is 99mph? I have never gone that fast ever.

Oh I get it, I'm the bad guy for bashing the Prius, a single inanimate object, but you can bash a popular tv series and a whole nationality without a problem. Unlike you, I'm still not going to go on the attack though. Have you ever actually cared to watch an episode of Top Gear? They're professional drivers and just call it as they see it. And why are you so defending the Prius so much. I can see Toyota still has you brainwashed when a professional neutral party told you the Prius sucks.

A 35 mph Civic is probably always going to be cheaper to drive than a Prius when you consider the up front cost and the resale value. I think the $7,000 battery replacement cost of the Prius hurts its resale value, since used car buyers don't want to get stuck with it.

Its a personal decision as to which vehicle you buy. I don't have anything against Hummers although I do think some people by the huge Hummers because they are lacking somewhere else in their lives.

I'm 6'2" and fit in it just fine. That was pretty surprising to me. It actually has more leg room than a the Chevy Blazer I once had.

You do have a point concerning nickel and its mining, transportation, etc. There are many concerns there. However, we are all on a steep learning curve when it comes to finding ways to conserve oil. The Prius is a great first step. Blame should not be placed on them but instead the Canadian government for not enforcing their environmental regulations on mininig nickel.

its bad because of the nickel batteries. the nickel is mined in sudbury Ontario AND it is making a huge mess. if you dont believe me... look it up on Google maps (satellite) also the prius looks like a ramp for hummers to drive over. lol
