ableton can make whatever u like . full songs - loops - videos etc etc

so does cubade, reason, logic. fruityloops or acid!

it depends if you use session or arrangement view.

session view is where you drop tons of (usually) short loops and then mix them togheter in real time.

the arrangement view is like in any classic sequencer. you drop stuff not in real time and make automations (not in real time).

then you can mix between both and make crazier things, mixing live performance with previously made things :O

@hepotardrinafooo ableton makes songs, so you can make loops also (just think of a loop as a short "song" for example) :)

With ableton can you create your own little jam sections to launch or do you have to import them.. I'm brand new just heard about this stuff today. Can you make your own loops in ableton like fruity loops or what?

Hey... Yes, with ableton you create your own loops. In my opinion, it is a lot more flexible for doing this kind of things than other linear timeline software like FL, Cubase etc... It takes a little to get used to, but man, you'll wonder how come you didn't discover it earlier...

I guess I'm a big Ableton Live fan :)

hey, i just bought an MPD, does the velocity work with ableton? Because im using drum rack with the velocity plugin and it always plays the samples at the same volumes

You have to set the velocity on the individual samples in drum rack, it isn't turned on by default

mainly i think its the mpd. The transport sec doesnt work and i cant select pads to eg. impulse. also, if i set up a pad to que a loop and another to stop it ableton tells me messages are conflicting. Also cant get the different pages of pads to appear.

I've read thru the manual and i'm not getting many answers.

Could u run me thru how u set urs up?

Just update the firmware of your MPD to get the transport to work as midi commands. Else, on Windows, you can use Bome's midi translator to convert the MMC code to midi

Ive just got the mpd24 and i cant "get" the manual. i'm workin with a v similr setup as you:Mac OS X, Live 7,MPD24 and M-Audio firewire 410. did u have any trouble?
