  • timeless... pure!!!!

  • Pure class. I am one of the lucky ones to have grown up listening to XTC :)

  • Saw them in Athens GA around 1980 and REM was the opening act. Great show.

  • @nixongill That was April 24th, 1981. (They only played in Athens once) There's audio for that show too and I have it, It's not in the best quality but I've heard much worse. I should upload it to Youtube under my second account some time.

  • @101Volts That would be great if you could. That show was so amazing . That and the REM shows at Tyrones were really special nights.

  • Still the best XTC song!

  • just gold. genius if you ask me.

  • Listening to this gives me XTC!!!

  • anyone else reminded of gotye?

  • @emilyschannel97 Defo.

  • @emilyschannel97 Too true - first time I heard the start of Gotye's song on the radio, I thought it was this.

  • @emilyschannel97 Affirmative.

  • Takes me back. Doesn't feel like 30 years.

  • The visual senses is not pleasant to the sight senses . Absolutely made my visual sense work overtime and it gave me a friggin headache. Would've enjoyed this more if it wasn't so choppy. Love the song. Disliked the video.

  • the COMPLETE song.........so freaking good it should be bottled !

  • four dislikes? weed them out, round them up and off with their heads!

  • xtc are probably the most influencial band of the 80's, 90's and naughties..................all u "young yins" get a good ear xxxxx

  • I grew up with this stuff. I'd love my youth back again but it would have to back in those days, definitely not today.

When I hear this song it's instant regression for me... I'm back there.

  • your problem, nit the worlds x

  • Moulding and Partridge, rock pop bases for all.

  • Hahahaha. Andy is like, "Okay, this is a music video, I just won't play and eff around instead."

  • it's about the divide between people who fight in the various conflicts around the globe, and the englands glory/striking beauty matches, not sure, but good track, played it once to a mate, who couldn't get the start, but then knew the rest of the track.

  • press 5 for delayed 1-2-3-4-5

  • Heard this in Tesco last night, one of my Dad's fave's. Thanks!

  • 1,2,3,4,5 Senses Working Overtime ...

  • @kojakbangbang7 Good idea

  • He has a good voice when he decides to use it tunefully

  • gotye totally ripped the beginning

  • "And buses might skid on black ice" they cut that line out, I wonder why?

  • Colin had stage fright

  • I grew up listening to XTC in the 80's. What a great underrated band they are.

Too bad they didn't tour as much though? I think Andy Partridge had stage fright?

    Great songs, one after another.

  • @Glen3467 you are blessed, today's music is mostly crap

  • @vorkutaman you're absolutely right by saying you have to look for good music now days. there are some bands that keep a classic rock feel, if you will, like -okta logue-. there are also underground bands like -larry and his flask- who seem to have joined different genres together and through that created a unique sound

  • songs that take us back to better days, god i love em.

  • One of the better live recordings of them I've heard. Black Sea was the first album of theirs I got back in 82'. This one was the second and it only reinforced how I felt they were one of the greatest bands I'd ever heard. For years I searched for videos of them and when I did find one it was no where near the quality of this recording. Andy must have been on the verge of his retiring from live performances and I could see and hear why. He sounds much more confident and assured here.

  • 1 2 3 4 TUNE

  • The church bells quack quack quack.

    Death is here for me

  • drum structure on this tune is fuckin soooooooooo good, guy playin them looks like he is taking it easy as well,he must be awesome flat out!

  • SWINDON IS WHERE ITS AT!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I can't believe I'm hearing this song.its been sooooo long. Brings back amazing teen memories

  • I love the drum fills in this.

  • Smoke some good east end hash ava laugh ava a pint and wonder who fuckin let Thatcher send boys to the Falklands.....

  • another underrated band. nice one!

  • Terry Chambers is such an amazing drummer. From a quiet, deft touch to a heart pounding time bomb.

Too bad Andy Partridge drove him away the year after this song was made. Eventually, Partridge's out of control ego would result in the same for the rest of his talented bandmates.

  • @geneymachiney WTF are you talking about?

  • @32INCHSTRIPER Dave Gregory left in '99 saying he was fed up with Andy. And Colin Moulding has stopped speaking to Andy altogether now. I'm sure they stuck around for as long as they did in large part because Andy's such a genius. But that genius came at a price.

  • @geneymachiney What cost was that madame? ;)

  • 2 people's senses aren't working at all.

  • XTC were way ahead of their time. One of the best bands of this generation.

  • Really not my favourite song, but certainly one of my favourite bands of all time ! :-D

  • I always thought it was "Sissies working overtime"...

  • and bullets might give you black eyes!

  • One of my favourites. Thank you!

  • This would be in my top 3 songs of all time, Good music...good days :) Thank you my friend.

  • I always wondered, why XTC wasn't bigger. I still have no answer to that. Between them, The Cure and The Beat (I always got late to the parties!), I had a fab time in the mid to late 80s.

  • @hlhr XTC should have been one of the biggest bands out there. Still one of my all time favories groups.

  • @hlhr I think the main reason is they didn't like touring. Yeah. One of my fav bands from the 80's as well. I find The New Pornographers being very influenced by them.

  • Underrrated band!

  • Right from the start, this song just pulls me in...

  • I envy the generation that can say they grew up with this music, my generation has nothing but garbage

  • @LeighTheGenius I then, am one of the envied and you...have a great ear.. and taste for one of the greatest era's in music history. Today? Garbage indeed. Techno copy cat repetitive crap. Ours was an era of instrumentals, lyrics and meaning. Talent, not posing, marketing gimmicks to make quick bucks at a compromise to the gift of music.Thank you.

  • @LeighTheGenius That garbage only goes as far as you see. Or does it? The New Pornographers are one of my favorite current bands, I also like Flipron's music but they're a very small band. The Shout Out Louds don't seem bad either. But music is all subjective.

  • @LeighTheGenius The best!

  • @LeighTheGenius I'm not from that generation either, but I still grew up with XTC, QUEEN, Joni Mitchel, The Police, Nirvana and many other greats :)

  • @LeighTheGenius well that's just plain wrong

  • @LeighTheGenius i swear i remember hearing this song when i was still in the womb. it just gives me that feeling of security when i hear it

  • @LeighTheGenius or just people that can't be fucked to actually find decent music past all the Billboard top 40 bullshit,

  • @LeighTheGenius amen!

  • @LeighTheGenius I disagree. There are some really good bands out there right now and I'm 57 years old. I love this band, but every decade has its own great bands, then its own Justin Biebers. You have to look for the treasure. These guys never made it that big. Lots of great bands never make it as big as they should because the people who decide the tastes are often bean counters interested only in the bottom line, their god: money. The 80's did have a bunch of exceptional bands, though!

  • @christoJihad2 So true, I'm 20 and recently I've been finding bands I like left and right. I've been looking and most of the bands I just got into are from the same time period XTC were active live, One of the bands was formed in 1988 though.

  • @101Volts From '65 to about '85 Poo/rock was still frest and young. Now it is just repetition of the past. Shapes one=ce thrown by the Who and Zep when they were new and revolutionary, the same cod rebellion now, the same BS. Rock died about 25 years ago

  • @tigerarmyrule Yeah, I keep thinking there's only so much that a mainstream audience will want and that there's only so much in the world to give, Too. And the deeper you dig, The more complicated it can get...

  • @christoJihad2

Yeah I would echo this comment too. Me I'm 53 and in the 90s turned my sons on to "Great Big Sea" ; "Yes" , 'The beatles', 'The Stones', 'The WHo', 'U-2' and Emminen ; 'Fine young Canibals' etc.

Now they have gotten me into "Fort Minor" , "Swollen Members" etc....

    Gotta love XTC!

  • @LeighTheGenius Would you feel better if I told you the #1 single to kick off 1982 was "Physical" by Olivia Newton John.

  • @RDArtist81 Lol still a step up from Lad GAGa

  • Singer makes me think of Chris Lowe from PSB

  • I cleared all the dead vids from me faves today, must've lost 75% of them when you closed down Tone, so glad to have this, one of my fave bands, cheers!

  • One of my fave bands also, I have uploaded these songs a few times eh haha Cheers Steve.

  • @Tackertoons I've had it in me faves several times but it keeps disappearing haha. Hopefully I'll hang on to it a bit longer this time...lol
