@marra001 the tire and wheel are not new. they've been maintained on a regular basis since this vehicle was new. that said, i can and have cleaned/restored rims with 4 or more months of road grime, brake dust, grease, asphalt, etc on them and/or years of neglect and you're right, they're not as easy to clean. what's your point?
Here is an excellent tip for everyone - Put any Tire Shine on a little heavy "Right before you go to bed". After sitting for 8 hours it will "look" "WET" and "Last" a lot longer. If you drive an hour after you apply the shine the wind will literally blow the shine off. TRY IT! I have a tip for perfectly clear windows too. So clear I hit my head thinking the window was open.
@agenthelios1 i used to work in the gas and oil industry... soap, degreaser and tire shine on my hands are probably the least of my worries. thanks for your concern though :o)
Little known to the consumer are the detrimental effects of silicone on tires and trim. Nearly all products currently available as "tire dressings" and
"protectants" contain silicone. While these products do briefly enhance appearance, they also degenerate and damage the surfaces to which they are applied. They then quickly wash off into your local water systems. Moreover, many tire manufacturers' warranty plans will not cover dry rot damage if evidence of silicone usage is found.
@renewprotectvideo thanks for the info. i'd be more concerned with the water supply. most consumers dont keep tires on their vehicles long enough to see any noticeable degradation of a tire from the use of silicone based dressing. any suggestions on an environmentally friendly/safe tire dressing?
@renewprotectvideo There is no evidence that silicone and solvent based tire shines negatively impact rubber over time. I prefer water-based tire dressing, but I don't hesitate to use a silicone tire dressing as long as it's a quality product. Silicone tire shines don't wash off into local water systems, either. I don't know where you came up with these ridiculous statements.
I like the Meguiars Hot Shine Trigger Spray also. Not too shiny and is very durable. Do you use any dressing in the wheel wells? Meguiars Hyper-Dressing a 2:1 (can dilute up to 4:1) does a great job on clean wheel wells. I also use the same Eagle One Tire Swipes.
@lockerzkrazy im southern and i dont drive a BMW... one of my clients drives this BMW X5. i drive a 97' Ford Mustang with a 2000 motor, bolt ons, cams and exhaust when im not working ;o)
@crombie92 lol, sad thing is, a lot of so-called detailers spray it in the wheel wells in an attempt to hide the dirt they didnt remove. just did two LARGE vehicles the other day that supposedly had been cared for by another detailer and owned by people who claimed they were "picky"... should have seen their faces when we got finished ;o)
@ALITL8 haha hey man you rock. any recommendation for the longest lasting wet shine? i alway thought gel was the way to go for that, what do ya think?
@crombie92 thanks man! i've never really tried the gels. i've been using Meguiar's Hot Shine Tire Spray for several years... our pickiest clients seem to like it and i'm more than happy with it's performance and durability.
i wasnt too impressed with megs hot shine spray, im about to try auto glym tyre dressing and have heard it does a more professional job and looks more sheen like than the greasy overly shiny look of hot shine . will be posting a video of my next project soon !
he's using the sponge incorrectly. It's curved in one direction only so as to nicely fit the curve of the side wall yet he is holding it in exactly the wrong orientation. Turn it 90 degrees, brains.
It's an Eagle One Tire Shine Applicator. Your local auto parts store should have plenty of them. They are sold for around $2.50 for a pair of two (only available for purchase in pairs of two).
This Meguiar is a shit product... you should try the best in the world: DryShine
last forever, you should take a look at their website...
good luck! (dryshinetreatments. k o m)

Pad doesnt have to be used but it makes it alot easier. I picked some up at advance auto parts.
