  • @kurrator1 I didn't say it was, I was simply expressing my views on abstraction. Since when does a Java missionary like C over C++ anyway?

  • @kurtator1 what do you think the jvm is made out of? Java? Every abstraction relies on the layer before it

  • @will34uk Java is written in C not that c++ crap.

  • long live c++

  • This could be good 10 yers ago. Show something with Java. C++ is dead.

  • @kurrator1 You, sir, are talking out of your ass. C++ is the leading in pc and console game development. Java is for mobile and web development. However, on the iphone, c++ is the best choice. C++ is, and always will be, faster and closer to the hardware than java. Java is a great language, but there are certain things it just can't handle.

  • @superkellerman8D And You sir are mentally living in prehistoric times. These days WEB rules and languages like C++ do not provide basic libraries for it. C++ is not cross-platform, its ugly and messy language. C and Python-like are the future, not C++.

  • @kurrator1 C++ is cross platform, it is just a programming language. There are compilers for almost every OS out there. And it isn't ugly or messy. It is very structured. And how can you say C++ is ugly and messy and suggest PYTHON of all things?! And C is no different than C++ with the exception of classes! You very obviously have NO idea what you're talking about. I can tell you're probably some teenager in your java class who tried C++ and got scared by the difficulty. Go back to class.

  • @superkellerman8D You're wrong, C++ is as cross platform as assembler. Libraries writen in C++ behave differently on different platforms (result is often unpredictable). Whole C++ world is one big pile of incompatible crap. C++ is not cross-platform in meaning of code nor binaries. If it was Microsoft woudnt have so much trouble porting windows to ARM or Wine emulator would work without trouble with every windows software - BUT IT IS NOT.

  • @kurrator1 First, I assume English isn't your first language as that didn't even make grammatical sense. Second, that's implying I ever use OS specific functions. I don't. I program on ubuntu for for both Windowsand Linux. So far I have yet to use any libs that behave differently across OS's. Care to name one? Lastly, I never said modern games were good, but they have good visuals. Gameplay and game logic come down to the programmer. But even then I want to crank out as much speed as I can.

  • @superkellerman8D Yes, english is not my "tribal" language so i dont care about it.

Those Visuals You talk about dont depend on programming lanuage. It doesnt matter if i use Python, C++ or ASM -rendering speed will be almost the same with some minor variations.

  • @kurrator1 Then explian to me why major game developers don't use python, java, or other languages for development? Wait. I'll tell you. These languages have a major slowdown due to interpretation. Whether or not you choose to realize that is your problem.

  • @superkellerman8D Because You've got minor knowledge of programming languages. ;) Java is not interpreted. LoL. Who am I arguing with?

  • @kurrator1 "Java is not interpreted" There are no words for how imbecilic that statement was. And you're arguing with me.

  • @superkellerman8D Java has got JIT compiller and it is not interpreter like in Python, but wait, there is CPython, so youre the one who is imbecillic.

  • @kurrator1 JIT is still has to go through an interpretation of the bytecode and translation of the code into machine code, which could have already been done with C++. And CPython IS the python interpreter. It was written in C.

  • @superkellerman8D Man, youve got basic programming knowledge. Who cares CPython is written in C? Should I use p. langage because someone wrote interpreter with it? It this is the case you should code in ASM. Java is generally as fast as C/C++ but is much more productive. You sloud stay in you dinosaur cave with your C++ punched cards. Really.

  • @kurrator1 Well alright. I'm perfectly fine and productive in my 'dinosaur cave'. You can do what you want, though.

  • @kurrator1 And maybe it's just me, but I find C easier than C++ which in turn I find easier than Java. Java is such a bitch at times... With C++ I can do most things, but still a bitch at times. C I can do whatever I want as long as it's syntactically correct.

  • @kurrator1 Furthermore, I program full 3d games in C++. 60 frames per second. You couldn't do the same in any other language other than C++, C or ASM.

  • @superkellerman8D Should I remind You about full 3D Java game : Minecraft? C++ is only A LITTLE better in some cases. Java barriers drop more and more with multicore CPUs and cheap RAM. Most of future games will be written in managed code: google for Microsoft XNA. Three words: time to market.

  • @kurrator1 Minecraft: Nothing but some cubes, no texture filtering at all,

not even lighting, yet still laggy as hell. HMMM, I WONDER WHY?! And how

will what language I decide to program in affect how the end user sees the

game? Nothing to do with marketing... And it really makes no difference to

me because I find C++ just as easy as java, though both can be a bitch at

times. And I don't really care about future games. If the developers want to

shoot themselves in the foot, go right on ahead.

  • @superkellerman8D You sound like some Assembler coder I've met long time ago, oh wait, it was me ;) C++ is history. Google for Jmonkeyengine.

BTW most if not all of todays games are total crap. Shiny blinking CRAP.

  • @kurrator1 That is sooo not true. C++ dead? Are you nuts? It is found in almost all major software programs!

  • @kurrator1 yea ur a assface

  • @kurrator1 It's "just" a GUI toolkit - the implementation language is mostly irrelevant. (Except that C++ tends to generate faster code than Java, C# and other "VM based" languages.) If you prefer to code the application in Java, there is Jambi.

  • @dolofson Coder "generates" code, not C++. Qt is dead also. Who cares about c++ and Qt if Im able to run my code faster/cheaper on Android using Java or Python? Now 2x core , in future 4x core devices. Who cares about c++ nowadays? c++ is unmaintanable mess , even standarization comitee have problems with it. I tried to setup Qt for android and it took longer than writing whole app in Java.
