@ncmountaingal1960 Which would be Dick Tuefeld (who recently passed away, January 2012).
He also did the opening narrations for "Lost In Space" ("Last Week, as you recall, we left our space family hurtling towards parts unknown, unaware that a deadly hyper-atomic missile launched from an automated planet they had just barely escaped from was even now bearing down on them...") and other voice-over narration for Irwin Allen's 1960's sci-fi shows.
Hardly anybody watched ABC Daytime in the '60s (all the housewives' TVs were tuned to CBS and/or NBC)...though that would change when All My Children and One Life To Live debuted, as well as siphoning Let's Make A Deal from NBC.
@johnnyafairbanks Maybe you can help me with a question. This clip brings up the all but forgotten character of Audrey"s older sister Lucy. When did Lucy leave and how was she written out of the show. I haven't watched soaps in like 30-35 years, but I did watch GH and OLTL. And I remember the old characters like Steve, Audrey,Lucy and Jesse. There are a few that I can't recall their names right off the top of my head. But I miss them all. What happened to Lucy though.
only General hospital remains...but that should be cancelled too! By the way that was Steve and Audrey Hardy who would be the mainstays of GH until late actor john beradino's death in 1996 and Rachel Ames would be on from 1964-2002 and has appeared maybe once a year sine then.
@imachildofthe80s8089 One Life to Live would be cancel before General Hospital, and ABC daytime feels the General Hospital is the stronger brand compare to All my Children and One Life to Live...
I've heard of Flame in the Wind because the soap opera starred Leslie Charleson and Jane Elliot(who would become sister-in-laws Monica and Tracy years later) What years did that soap air. When did it end as "A Time for Us?" Elliot and Charleson had to be no older than teenagers when they appeared on this soap as this was set in the 60's(both actresses were born in the 40's)
That announcer is same voice of B-9, the Robot on Lost in Space!!!

Back in the day when "general hospital" was actually about doctors and a hospital.

During the 1964-'65 season, this was ABC's mid-afternoon schedule {all times Eastern):
2:00 FLAME IN THE WIND
2:30 DAY IN COURT
2:55 NEWS WITH THE WOMEN'S TOUCH [Marlene Sanders]
3:00 GENERAL HOSPITAL
3:30 THE YOUNG MARRIEDS
4:00 TRAILMASTER {"WAGON TRAIN" repeats}

@fromthesidelines--Around this time, Marlene Sanders became the first woman to (substitute) anchor a network news program.

@gotch09 Can't help you with that, but I think prior to the late '70s, most episodes of the ABC soaps were erased though a few of them were spared.

Dick Tufeld is the announcer; this covered the 2-4pm(et) time period these series appeared on every weekday....

I guess long before Judge Judy, The Peoples' Court, Judge Joe Brown, and all these other court shows, there was Day in Court.
Flame in the Wind was changed to A Time for Us.
But anyway, I had just started second grade when these shows first came on.

A Time for Us was on the air on ABC the minute I was born, up against House Party on CBS & The Doctors on NBC.
