  • hey whats going on my name is tivon jeffers i am breaking into the film scoring world and i am trying to build up my templates. i just wanted to know what actual sounds do you have in each instance of kontakt. or what should i start off with . i have mostly every sound library except for vsl

  • hey whats Big and 70rr in the string multi?

  • @yanizle

I'm not sure about the "BIG", but 70RR (I think) is the 70 piece string marc RR patch in EWQLSO.

  • what sample libraries comprise the short brass? Thanks!

  • Great Tune, Just wondering if your Altiverb sends ex Long Strings have both Early reflection and Tail On? And do you use a overall reverb for all the tracks?

  • What are those not mentioned libraries starting with "BIG" & "SI" ?

SI I could only think for Sonic Implats (I've got their libs) but BIG?

  • Hi! I love your videos!! I was wondering how you handle notation; namely your method for getting your MIDI into orchestrations for real musicians. Just a thought for a future video :)

  • Ok, Lookn at your Bidule setup, I see you have 32 inputs for your "Bidule ReWire" at the bottom. I only have 16. How can i change this. Ive try'd the manual, looked at preferences. Don't know what to do for this matter. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes im very curious about this and its driving me mad. I love your vids

  • I had a very similar setup with Plogue and DP, but was getting latency issues when I used virtual MIDI inputs (Bidule 1, Bidule 2, etc.). You can up the number of ReWire inputs in the standalone preferences and use those instead. It will lower latency a lot.

  • Mike -

Awesome follow-up to your Bidule videos.

These are wonderful tutorials for all of us

on the other side. Keep up the awesome

    work...it is really appreciated.

    Mike

  • hi mike,

what are the patches/libraries used in your "short brass" multi at 5:54? i would love to get those in my template.

thanks for these awesome videos! you rock!

  • man You're Awesome !!!

  • Great! But how do you manage all this with just one core? ReWire does not support multiple cores. When I try to recreate your template, pops appear after just a few instruments (same mac pro as you, 10 GB Ram, Logic 9). Please make a tutorial about setting all this up if you find the time, please!

  • Yeah, I'm curious myself!

    Mike?

  • Set your audio buffer to 512

  • Really cool song you had there! Do you mind showing all of it in a vid?

BTW, those Fanfare Trumpets sound great!

    Keep those screencasts coming ;)

  • With Kontakt's Memory Server, you don't even really need a program like Bidule to host virtual instruments "outside" of a 32 bit application like DP or Logic.....or do you? Of course, using Play or some other sample engine is a different story...

  • That's correct, I just prefer to have it all outside DP in Bidule because I can just close and open new projects in DP using that same template. Not having to reload samples....

  • Gotcha...

Unfortunately, I'm not nearly creative enough to have multiple projects to work on. :D

...btw, how long does it take to load up all those sounds?

  • I'd also like to know - how long does it take to load up all those samples?

Do you ever turn your computer off? :D

Would you like to have your libraries on SSDs, for faster loading and streaming?

Are you using RAM more than DFD for sample playback? You have 16 GB now, I guess you raised DFD buffer in Kontakt a bit, to ease it up on your hard drive, right?

Thanks for any answers, you're a cool guy!

  • I'll see you this Monday at Larry's!

  • great again , maybe if you ever have some time, you can make a tutorial on how to set up dp and bidule from scratch !

thank you for this video !

  • I would be most interested in that. Although, I'd use Reaper ;)

  • Very insightful, sure helps a music student. I do have a question, how do you make the legato (slide) sound? I've been trying to find out, but noticed you played it at 5:16. Would really appreciate some input. Thank you.

  • I'd say that it's programmed into the patch. VSL and LASS have this hands down done the best.

  • This comes a long way from Instant music in the late 80s.

  • This sounds absolutely amazing. The mixes of the different libraries sounds incredibly realistic together.
